One word- fantastic!! A group of 11 of us came in for a late lunch/early dinner. Our server (didn't catch her name but she was of Bulgarian nationality) was absolutely amazing. She remembered all of our orders by memory perfectly. Everyone raved about the food, fried fish, shrimp, burgers, gyros, stuffed mushroom- it was all great, came out quickly and was hot. They are also very accommodating to food allergies and dietary restrictions. We have vegetarians and gluten free in our party and found many things to order. We're visiting Saint Pete Beach this weekend and stopped in late after our drive over from Orlando. The food and service were excellent! We had the Greek combo platter which included Greek salad, gyro, souvlaki, and chicken souvlaki. We also had the seafood sampler which included grouper, salmon, scallops, and shrimp plus soup/salad, potato, and vegetable. All was delicious but the gyro and grouper were definitely the best thing on each of the plates! We would absolutely recommend it!! read more

I had ordered the cheese ravioli in meat sauce which was very good! There is indoor and outdoor seating and overall great atmosphere. The host and manager were very kind. You can tell they go above and beyond to make you feel as if your home in your own dinning room. My friend and I liked this place so much we ended up there again this time brining four more people. Came with a party of 9, including 2 young kids. Staff was good, server Kendall did her best to keep up with the business 'Classic Greek' Pork Souvlaki was dry at best. The rest of the dishes - average would be a stretch, and multiple dishes were served in parts, with minutes passing between deliveries. We were eating outside and I asked to have the ceiling fan above out table to be turned up. I was instructed by staff to STAND ON A CHAIR AND TURN IT UP MYSELF. WORST OF ALL- the 4 year old boy in the party ordered chicken fingers. He was the LAST to be served, and was given a plate of French Fries first. 10+ minutes later, he gets his chicken fingers (frozen, not fresh) and MORE fries. Food here is fantastic. Menu is huge. We are here twice on vacation. The apps were great. Go for the garlic bread, fried mozzarella, calamari, and potato skins. The Italian food is terrific. The red sauce is awesome. Salads are great including the Greek. House dressing is oil and red wine vinegar which I love. The linguini and clams in a white sauce, the seafood pasta, chicken and eggplant (ask for it over pasta), and chicken Florentine, and chicken Francois were all excellent. So we came to vacation here from Michigan. We decided to eat outside of the resort for breakfast more than once and came to skidders. The best way to compare his place is to a Coney Island in the Midwest if you have ever been to one. That means it's fantastic. Both mornings we have eaten here we have gotten different breakfast each time, and each have been amazing. The service is quick and friendly, and the kitchen turnaround time is faster than many restaurants I've been to in such a long time. This place serves seafood,Italian and Greek food and normally I avoid places that serve many different types of food because they are usually mediocre across the board but it appears that Skidders is firing on all cylinders. The place was busy but we were seated quickly.We ordered drinks and appetizers and tried the fresh bread that was brought out.The bread was warm and quite tasty.The raspberry tea has just a hint of raspberry taste but the tea itself is good.The appetizers we ordered were the calamari,stuffed mushrooms and jalapeno poppers.All three were excellent,with decent sized servings,especially the calamari,which came with a fresh marinara type sauce. The wife and I both went for the fried combo platter which has flounder,shrimp and scallops with the standard sides of coleslaw and french fries.Deep frying seafood can be tricky,but our stuff was done just right,tender and not over or underdone.The fish was good,the shrimp better and the scallops best,The scallops were so delicious that I could have eaten a plate full of just them.They were large,tender and flavorful.The fries were plentiful but could of been warmer. Our waiter was attentive and kept us supplied with refills on our drinks,bread and also extra napkins when we requested them. All in all it was a good experience and a great way to start off the New Year.Everything went smoothly and nothing major to report in the negative department so I'm giving them 5 stars,It was our first visit and we plan on returning to try some of their yummy looking Italian and Greek dishes. read more

I LOVE this place. Have been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Casual. Love the owner who will greet you at the door and make you feel welcome. They are Greek and he says this "basically" is a Greek restaurant, but the menu goes on and on for pages. They have everything. I had moussaka, veal piccata, eggplant parmigiana, filet mignon. Huge portions at breakfast, need to remember this when ordering biscuits and gravy. You can eat outside too and enjoy beautiful beach weather. Oh and the wine. Montepulciano d'abruzzo fabulous. My daughter and I were in St.Pete for a last minute getaway for a few days before school started. We had gone to several restaurants and decided on the last night to try Skidders. It was phenomenal! I'll also add that this is the only place that we left a review for during our time here. The food was so delicious and the service was exceptional! It was a cozy family atmosphere and the owner/restaurant manager literally treated us like we were family...and we also watched him treat the other guests at our surrounding tables like family as well. His meal was good, but he couldn't wait to give into our pizza and wings. Not what I was expecting at all from a diner!! We're from NY and we were very impressed with the pizza, the crust was a perfect balance between thin/thick, perfect amount of cheese. The wings were perfectly crunchy the medium sauce was delicious. The only reason for the 4 stars is that side salad we ordered was just ok and we sat for some time without silverware when it wasn't very busy. The owner eventually came over and brought some and some complimentary hot bread. Also there were French fries from the previous customer(s) sitting in our booth when we arrived. my wife and I stopped by for dinner the other night to find the place was fairly empty. we placed our orders and everything seemed to be fine. my food arrived and I had ordered the fresh Grouper sandwich. I do not believe the fish was fresh at all. The fish had an odor and I started to eat the sandwich. I had to put ketchup on the fish and remove it from the bun. I complained and was told that the fish was indeed fresh and I was wrong. I have worked in 4 and 5 diamond hotels for Hilton over 20 years and I know fresh fish when I see it and smell it. I was in the bathroom most of the night sick to my stomach My wife ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms and there was very little if any crabmeat in the stuffed mushrooms. We went there tonight to try something different on our two month stay on the island. The grouper dinner was okay and so was my wife's stuffed flounder. Nothing spectacular. So we ordered baclava for dessert. The worst baklava I have had in my life. I told the waitress and the manager. Told him to order it from the ladies at the Greek church. He said he gets it from Tarpon Springs (a big Greek community). I told him to find someone else. Would he adjust my bill $4.75? No! If you want grouper go to Ricks Reef. This place is absolutely amazing and treated me like family! I came to this restaurant only a couple days after moving from California. My little one had her first loose tooth and was having a really hard time with it. She requested something soft to eat so it wouldn't irritate her tooth. Bless her little heart all she wanted was oatmeal... at 7pm. Obviously most places are no longer serving breakfast at that time. I called over a dozen places and couldn't find any with oatmeal on the menu. I was running out of options quick when one of the hotels I called suggested I reach out to Skidders. Skidders did in fact have oatmeal on the menu but only during breakfast which was long over. I explained my situation to the manager and he told me it was as good as done. We arrived less than 10 minutes later where the manager was personally finishing up a fresh pot of oatmeal with all the works (strawberries, brown sugar, and maple syrup) just for our little girl. It was absolutely unbelievable how kind the staff was for such a last minute, high maintenance request. He refused to accept a tip or payment and even gave us a extra container of oatmeal to reheat for the following morning. My companion (grad-school buddy: we're here at a conference) and I ordered the exact same thing: the night's fish special, a whole snapper. Expertly cooked. Filleted at tableside by 2 teams of 2, which was sorta fun. Lovely herbed butter. Clean, straightforward flavors, but that's really hard to pull off. There's no place to hide, no complicated sauces to cover your tracks. Same story with my starter. They called it mussel soup, but it was mussels in a spicy tomato sauce. Again, clean flavors. Expertly cooked (the difference, with mussels, between raw and overcooked is a matter of seconds). Excellent prices anywhere, so especially for a beach town. The diner look and feel is great and the spot's high on my list for next year and beyond. read more

I knew I really wanted veal and tried to order but it needed some changes. The manager Pete came to our table, sat down and spent time trying to come up with something that would meet what I was looking for and my needs. Pete made an awesome veal dish that was not on the menu and ensured my happiness with the dish. Pete also ensure my mother and brother's needs were met when they ordered. I had veal with a salad. The salad we all agreed was amazing and soooo fresh!! My brother loved the chicken Marsala and my mother had the eggplant parmisigna. She loved the sauce. We were staying at Tradewinds Resort (see my review) and walked across the street to Skidders. When we walked in we asked the manager to see a menu and when he handed it to us he said that we will love it and he was right. Skidders isn't fancy inside but has a huge menu that includes pizza (people around us loved them), sandwiches, pasta, greek (greek owners) and so much more. I tried the Mousaka and was a great choice. They make everything at Skidders in house and this was sooo good. I loved it and highly recommend it. My boyfriend had the veal parm and he loved that as well. Even the house salad was good instead of the normal plain iceburg you get at most places. I also had to try the soup of the day which was Greek Lemon Chicken. It was a cream of chicken soup with a hint of lemon and orzo pasta in it. It was great! I couldn't fit in dessert but took a piece of Baklava back to the hotel and was glad I did. Yum. Our server was very good and light hearted and made our visit nice as well. The managers walked around the busy restaurant to make sure everyone was doing ok and you could tell they really cared. If you are around that area make sure to try Skidders! read more
