That said, I can appreciate that with a team of just two people, they're clearly focused on maintaining quality over quantity. The space itself is absolutely adorable and very thoughtfully curated. During our visit, I realized the owners seemed familiar, and after chatting with them, learned they were behind a few other local restaurants I've enjoyed over the years. Small world! The restaurant is very small with limited seating, but that appears to be intentional and fits the concept. The wine selection was enjoyable, and I really loved the overall idea and atmosphere they've created. When it gets busy, it's easy to see how challenging it can be for a two-person team to balance service and hospitality while keeping everything running smoothly. Even so, the effort, passion, and attention to detail are obvious. Open just 16 hours a week, this unique local spot takes unique to a whole new level of awesome! The menu changes every week based on what is available and fresh! It's clean, open, friendly, creative, small, fresh and delicious. The locals definitely know about it and were fun to chat with. The couple running it, Jen and Zach, are engaging, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and fun! Everything is prepared in house with a focus on quality, the quality bread is imported from Miami, the portions are plentiful and the tastes are well balanced and delicious! Please note, seating is quite limited, so we (Peter N and I) made sure we arrived first, before they opened at 11am. I can't say what your odds are of getting a seat but I'd suggest being flexible and enjoy! I won't describe my meal in detail since you won't be able to duplicate it! Remember, the menu changes! SOLID 5 STARS! Jennifer & Zack are the epitome of restaurateurs. waitress Jennifer doubles as a wine sommelier and Zack is a true Chef. Only open 16 hours a week (11:00am - 3:00pm Thursday-Sunday) so get there when they open if you want one of the 8 seats that are available inside or the two (2 seat) tables outside. I started things off with a glass of Chenin Blanc 2025 from France ($12) which paired well with my Summer Stonefruit Salad ($17). Everyone I talked to told me the sandwiches are fantastic, so I ordered the Black Forest Ham Sandwich ($21). Both the salad and the sandwich are large enough for TWO meals (I could only eat 1/2 the salad and 1/4 the sandwich before I was full). This is easily the BEST sandwich I've ever had. Yelpers have heard me mention before that I never eat anything larger than my head. Fortunately, I didn't have a problem here cause this sandwich was cut in half! This sandwich is huge. To get a picture of its true size you need to refer to the Hertzsprung-Russel Diagram Chart. Uncle Funz Provisions is a tiny hole-in-the-wall shop and like I mentioned earlier, only open for 16 hrs a week, but it is a must if you are in the area at the times they're open: Limited but exciting wine selections, more than one caviar option, and an eclectic menu that changes every week. All-Star Elite Dave W and I showed up 15 minutes before opening time to ensure we would get seats, but EVERY person who entered this shop while we were there was a local regular. I found this place on yelp when I knew I would be coming to Saint Pete. It's cute and close to the beach, really fun atmosphere, like really friendly locals that love new people and similarly have a lot of regulars. I loved it. It's not a cheap sandwich for sure but it's cute, definitely ment to split or for two meals. Do not let the exterior fool you, this is a 5 star Michelin worthy "sandwich"! We walked in, and Jen greeted us like family. We ordered the Baja crab and corn chowder, lemon dill shrimp dip, a roast beef and a smoked mahi sandwich. Sounds like a lot, especially since their sandwiches are HUGE, but everything was so light and delicious! The shop is super duper cute inside, with cloth napkins and real flatware, no detail left un thought of...to include the nice TP in the bathroom ;-) Go for the food, stay for the service and the ambiance. I discovered this place back in January when my husband and I were vacationing. We chose it purely based on Yelp reviews, and it happened to be walkable from where we were staying. I only ordered a sandwich to take out, but after the very first bite, I knew this wasn't just any sandwich shop. The flavor was outstanding -- truly the best sandwich I've had in my entire life. You can tell the owners love what they do and take real pride in their food. Yesterday we were back in town, and of course the first place we went for lunch was Uncle Funz. Such a great decisions were made by coming here! We started with a glass of white wine and water! I got the Italian sandwich that was huge! It was layered and had a really great sauce in it. We are so excited that the Chef from Z-grill opened a lunch restaurant on St Pete Beach. They change their menu every Wednesday and only use fresh ingredients. We stopped by Sunday morning (11am) and picked up black grouper fish spread, homemade salsa & corn tortilla chips and their amazing potato salad as a snack for beach. Jen is warm, friendly and conversational running the front of house and Zach is the chef behind the scenes, and a culinary genius. Every dish is thoughtfully curated with flavors that pair perfectly. They serve fine wine from the best regions which are hand selected by Jen and she has great taste. This time, we shared the chicken cordon bleu sandwich and beef cheek pot stickers which were paired with a dipping cup of the mushroom bisque. The bisque was such a perfect pair with the beef cheeks that we took a cup home to complement the pot roast we were having for dinner. Everything was incredible. They use fresh ingredients and the best part is they change the menu every week so there's always something new to try. One never knows what they might find when trying a sandwich shop in a beach strip mall and we were so impressed with everything down to the ambiance.
