For a graduation gift, my grandparents purchased ski boots and bindings from Ski Center LTD in June 2025. My son had already purchased skis in 2024 from an online company, so we expected a smooth experience due to the simplicity of the transaction. Unfortunately, it turned into a 6-month-long nightmare. After two weeks, the owner, Brian, informed us that the bindings would take at least three more weeks to arrive. A month went by with no communication whatsoever. This lack of response became a pattern. After repeatedly calling, I finally reached someone after a month and a half who told me the bindings I ordered weren't even coming in. I agreed to switch to a different model for my son's skis. Later, I learned that they had drilled two holes incorrectly into my son's skis -- a major mistake -- and Brian never informed me. While mistakes happen, not communicating them to your customer is unacceptable. Brian claimed he was trying to find a replacement pair, which he finally found in late October. When I finally went to pick up the skis on November 3, a rude and combative staff member demanded I show a small ticket stub from six months ago. When I questioned whether that was reasonable, she asked for my license instead, showing zero courtesy or professionalism. At that point, after calling half a dozen times over months, you'd think they'd at least recognize my name. The skis I received weren't quite the same, but I took them just to put an end to the ordeal. The customer service is terrible, the communication is nonexistent, and the store itself is messy, unorganized, and poorly managed. Most of the staff seem uninterested or unavailable to help. Save yourself the frustration. If you need something, such as ski equipment, consider a different company than Ski Center LTD. Don't waste your time or money with Ski Center LTD -- they're unreliable, unprofessional, and uncommunicative. No, they are not inexpensive. Awesome customer service at this ski shop. The staff provides you with great tips and are very knowledgeable about snowboarding. They taught us about proper gear fit and made solid recommendations. My brother was buying a new snowboard and boots. They have a nice selection of designs. They helped him with getting fitted and heat molded his boots the day of. They generally take anywhere between a couple days to a week to get your bindings added to the board. The price is reasonable for gear. Would recommend this place for anyone in the MD area. read more

Went to Ski Center for the first time. Upon entering, there were 4-5 employees near the door and not a single person even so much as said hello. We walked about the store only to come back to the cashier's desk to ask the employee group still standing there for assistance with a seasonal rental. One employee immediately started to push me to purchase versus a rental. No inquiry about how much I ski or my experience level. When I pushed back suggesting I was only interested in a rental, admittedly a bit terse given the lack of customer service up to this point, a different employee responded to my boyfriend by saying, "Good luck with that!" Hard not to walk out, but I was desperate for equipment! Max helped to get me fitted with equipment and did a thorough job of explaining the sizing for skis and boots. My boyfriend, an experienced skier, noted that Max was extremely knowledgeable and was generally impressed by his guidance. The rental gear looks relatively new and in great shape compared to other rental equipment I've seen! Their seasonal rental price is slightly higher but comparable to other area stores. Kudos to Max for his knowledge and patience with me. I'd love to give this 4 stars or more, but the customer service, as other reviewers have noted, seems to be lacking overall. read more

We've come here the past 4 years to lease skis and boots for my kids. Service the past 2 years has been atrocious so we won't be returning. It's also expensive and the selection isn't great for leases. In any event, the year after the pandemic they accused us of not paying for our leases even though we did, and even after the computer showed such, the man never apologized and said things like "there are few things you can get in life for free" etc. He seemed to have mental problems so we ignored it. This year, they fitted my daughter for boots that appeared too tight and my husband pointed it out. The employee was adamant. We went to the resort 2 mos later and they were too small (no surprise). My child was in tears. We got fitted at the resort shop for boots that were a whole size bigger. Bought those. Waste of money to have had the lease. The older woman who might be the owner also acts like she's doing us a favor whenever we're in there. Straight up malice in her eyes. Don't know what their problem is, but we have three kids and won't be returning there next year when all three will be on skis. Terrible attitude and service. read more

I've been going to them from the time they used to be on Mass Ave but on a recent visit, they make you feel as welcome as the bubonic plague! I was the only other person in the store and the service at the front desk was as unhelpful and as unfriendly wrt scheduling appointments and ski service tech basically decline to even look at pin bindings to see if adjustable and wanted to charge an exorbitant amount to tighten a screw. Maybe they feel they are the only game in town but they are employee-owned, no? You'd think they at least try to encourage more business. Perhaps they are going out of business and they are all grouchy. But didn't they expand and have an attached bike store? read more

Went in just to see what this shop was all about. Wow, what a wealth of knowledge and one of the best boot fitters I've ever worked with. Bill got my boots dialed in and the shop was able to get my skis tuned and adjusted in less than a wee. Highly recommend this shop, best in the DC area by far. read more

I stopped in here to get fitted for some boots. They have a decent selection of skis, boots, poles and other gear. I can't speak to snowboarding gear since I don't snowboard. It's at the end of a strip mall, and you can't see it from the road, so use your map app and nav to it. You'll be glad you did. I was fortunate enough to meet Peter, who did a boot fitting for me. He took the time to measure my foot, ask me about my ski style and picked a couple of boots that aligned to what I was looking for. I felt very fortunate to have had his help. Their prices are competitive and they do know what they are talking about. Their store has a beautiful dog that is leashed to a clothing rack. I gave it a quick pet, but I don't think it's very fond of kids, so be forewarned, and watch your little ones. read more

My friend and I were here today and I got new boots and she got her boots adjusted. They took tons and tons of time with us to make sure that we got exactly what we needed. They are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend if you have tough to fit feet or just want to make sure that you get the right boot for you! read more

I really wanted to like this place but the employees gave me no reason to. My first experience was disappointing. I reserved a time online for a season rental consultation for my two boys. When I arrived no one would even acknowledge my existence for 90 minutes. Then, the staff member belittled my son's boots, calling them Ill-fitting and lecturing us on our poor choice for buying them through Sun n Ski, which is the far larger, more popular and successful ski store across town. When I returned to exchange a $30 pair of women's thermals (that I purchased by accident) for men's I was told it was outside of their return policy, even though I was only requesting an exchange for a men's pair. Adding insult to injury, the employee I conversed with said he shouldn't "suffer for the stupid mistakes that customers make". Unfortunately, he'll now suffer more because I have no choice but to redirect the $2K I spend each winter back to Sun n Ski. Again, I try to help struggling small businesses during these times but not if the store or its staff demonstrate any kind of decency or human relations. Without question this is the most professional ski / snowboard shop in the area. I have always had problems with getting a proper boot fit and have dealt with discomfort but after seeing the boot fitters at Ski Center I am finally skiing without pain.
