Pioneer Spa in Norwalk was honestly such a disappointment and I really wish someone had written an…read morehonest review before I went. I've been to a lot of Korean spas across LA and Orange County like Century, Wi, and Crystal, so I know what to expect. A friend recommended this one and I thought it'd be fun to try something new, but this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. The only reason I'm even giving it two stars is because of the owner, Mr. Kim. He greeted me at the front, was very polite, and took time to explain everything even though I already knew how these spas work. His friendliness stood out, but that was the only positive part of my visit. Parking was easy and free, which was nice, and I got a spot right in front. The spa is inside a small indoor plaza that feels more like an outdated mini mall than a wellness spot, and the entrance is confusing. Once inside, everything felt cramped and outdated. The cold plunge and jacuzzi were ridiculously small, maybe two and a half feet deep, and you could barely fit two people without bumping elbows. The jacuzzi wasn't hot enough, the cold plunge wasn't cold at all, and the overall atmosphere didn't feel clean or rejuvenating. The amenities were just way below what you'd expect from a Korean spa. The sauna said 173 degrees but I sat there for over twenty minutes and didn't sweat once. The steam room was the opposite, dangerously hot. The steam comes out directly from a vent near the bottom, and if you're sitting anywhere close to it, it literally burns your legs. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's unsafe. Even sitting higher up, I had to constantly scoot away because of how intense the bursts of steam were. That should absolutely be fixed because it's a serious safety hazard. On top of that, the jacuzzi and cold plunge both had warning signs taped on the railings that said things like "Be careful, this is not strong, do not shake." That alone made me feel uneasy. If the metal railings aren't sturdy enough to lean on, they shouldn't be in use. It's something so simple to fix, and I don't understand how they're operating without addressing it. The common area wasn't comfortable either. There were a few massage chairs that you had to pay extra for and no real seating to relax. The orange uniforms were funny and bright, but it made the place look more like a gym than a spa. There are themed rooms like an oxygen room, but they don't offer much. I was planning to eat at the restaurant since the website said it was open, but when I asked, the staff told me it had been closed for a while. Honestly, that was probably for the best because the space is so small that food smells would've been overwhelming. They do offer a few small items like shaving cream, a disposable razor, and a scrub, which is thoughtful, but it doesn't make up for the lack of quality. Between the outdated facilities, safety hazards, and disappointing amenities, this place just isn't worth it. For the same price, I'd rather go to Joy Spa or Century Spa in Koreatown where you actually get what you pay for. Those places have better amenities, cleaner spaces, and real attention to comfort and safety. Pioneer Spa feels neglected, cramped, and uncomfortable. I left more tense than when I arrived and definitely won't be going back.

I miss this spa. It is very good the money and a decent size. Not too big and not too small.read more

Their approach might help someone with the occasional pimple or mild acne, but they treat every case the same, regardless of severity. I paid $250 to start treatment and $57 per visit, only to find out later that my daughter actually needed antibiotics, something they don't provide. I wish I had asked more questions and researched their methods better beforehand. The staff working with patients are not licensed estheticians--they're just trained employees. One of them aggressively attempted to extract my daughter's acne, leaving her with scarring. I deeply regret bringing her here and wasting that money. I made an…read moreappointment for Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Unfortunately, from the moment I arrived, I was disappointed by the overall experience. When I walked up, the outside of the building looked unkempt, with trash and spider webs. I also struggled to figure out which door I was supposed to enter because I was never given any instructions through Instagram. As soon as I opened the door, I immediately heard a child screaming. I looked around and saw a random mannequin, medical robes hanging from a free standing rack, walkie-talkies, a small wooden divider, and a wheeled mopping bucket simply left out in the open. None of it looked professional or welcoming. First impressions are everything. I then sat down on the white couches, which were visibly dirty and covered in stains and hair. The first girl who greeted me was actually just casually walking by and heading into another room. There wasn't a lobby or front desk area with someone ready to welcome clients as they walked in. She asked if I had an appointment, but there didn't seem to be any type of check-in system no clipboard, computer, or anything to verify appointments. She went to the back, and another lady came out(I think she's the owner). I could immediately tell she seemed completely unsure of who was there and what each person was there for. Another woman came in about five minutes after I arrived, and she also had an appointment at the same time as me.(mind you a child is still screaming and running around). The main lady (I think she's the owner) kept asking both of us what we were there for. At that point, I had to pull up my Instagram messages to show her what I had originally inquired about. I told her they seemed very unorganized and she responded very nonchalantly. I explained that I wanted to try one session first to see if I liked the service before committing to a package. Through Instagram, I had been told about a $650 package that could be split into payments so I could pay as I went, especially since I didn't want to pay everything upfront. Based on the package, I understood that it would come out to around $108 per session, yet I was being told the price would be $150 for one session. She cut me off and said that one session wouldn't do anything, but I felt like she completely missed the point of what I was asking. She then abruptly turned around and walked away, taking the woman who had arrived after me to the back. Keep in mind, she never even introduced herself to me. I sat there for about 10 minutes. Then another girl came from the back and said, "Oh, I'm going to walk you over to the back to take your payment." As she's walking me back I looked info the rooms and there's hello kitty pictures which looked out of place for a spa. This lady didn't bother to greet herself so I asked her for her name I think she said "Ashley" I told her, "I haven't even had a consultation, and I don't know anything about this process. How am I supposed to pay ahead of time?" She then told me to sit back down and offered me water. At this point, everything just felt off. I didn't feel welcomed at all, and I had that gut feeling that intuition that I was going to end up dissatisfied with the service. Overall, the entire experience felt very unprofessional and disorganized. From the condition of the outside, to the cleanliness of the waiting area, to the lack of a proper check-in process and communication, I never felt confident or comfortable. I ultimately decided to leave because I didn't feel good about moving forward. I can only speak from my own experience, but based on this visit, I unfortunately cannot recommend them.

She listened carefully to my goals, explained every step of the process, and achieved beautifully natural results, softening fine lines while preserving expression and balance. Her technical skill and aesthetic judgment are noticeably outstanding. What truly distinguishes True Bella Medical Esthetics is its unwavering commitment to personalized care, clinical excellence, and genuine patient satisfaction. I must admit, it was the best decision ever! I had originally made a Botox appt and after reviewing my responses I got a call explaining how the Botox would not really make a difference on my wedding day and recommended another option for me. I thought that was great given that I'm VERY new to this facials and Botox stuff. Upon getting there the location is in a good visible spot and easy to park. The front desk girl was very pleasant and the office smelled nice and is very clean (HUGE plus). I was then greeted by Itzel. She was cheerful, knowledgeable, and I liked that she explained everything she was doing. For a first timer like myself who lacked beauty treatment knowledge, I felt Itzel did a great job at explaining step by step what was being done and what it was for. I also did the IV therapy. It was a 10/10! With the hours I work and the lack of sleep and nutrients this was an additional booster I needed. I felt energized and felt like it completed my day!

It was super spacious and easy, which honestly made a great first impression. From the outside, the place didn't look particularly luxurious, but once inside, it felt cozy and welcoming, and everyone was very kind. The person who assisted me was a young Vietnamese woman, and she had amazing hands. Every time she touched my scalp, it felt incredibly soothing, and even the light facial massage was so relaxing. She worked continuously for about an hour and a half, giving both hand and scalp massages without any break. By the time I left, I felt completely refreshed and relieved of my fatigue. What stood out the most was how sincere and hardworking she was throughout the entire session. I really appreciated that. They did check my scalp with a camera, but since I don't have major scalp concerns, that part wasn't as important to me. For me, the massage itself was the highlight, and it was absolutely worth it. I will definitely be coming back!

That said, they're not hairstylists, so the result wasn't quite what I would've preferred. If you go, you might want to bring a clip or hair tie just in case. Personally, I think I would've rather left with my hair wet. All in all, it was a relaxing and enjoyable visit, and I would definitely return for the facial treatments.
