I went to Anna for Brazilian wax a few weeks ago. I found the whole experience really unpleasant and painful. Now, I've been to about 7 different places just in the last year (lived in 3 different countries in the last year which is the main reason) so can compare. And 4 of those places were in the US so its not just due to differences between countries or cultures or whatever. My main comments are: (1) The place is cute and welcoming. I showed up on time and she was ready for me. I really appreciate that as I hate waiting. (2) She wasn't going to leave the room to give me some privacy to undress. Only when I wasn't moving and was just waiting she asked if I would like some privacy. I've never experienced that before. Clients really do need some privacy to get ready for Brazilian. Oh and she had no wipes. Luckily I brought my own just in case, but it really would be in her best interest to get some. (3) Her technique was so different from anyone I've ever been to. She starts from the back and even does the bottom part from behind (not bottom as butt but bottom part of my ladyparts if you know what I mean). It is SO PAINFUL!!!!! I feel file there is a reason why everyone else does it the other way and it could be because of the direction the hair grows or something. Anyway, her way was very unpleasant and painful. (4) The entire experience was too painful. I've been getting Brazilians for a while now and I know its always painful, but it should not be this painful. Especially since I only had 4 weeks growth since my last waxing. She just covers large areas with was and rips all at once. That way its faster (good for her) but much more painful for the client. Like I had tears in my eyes. And that never happens to me. (5) When she saw my tears she did go easier on me which I appreciate. But still, she should not be hoping to get through Brazilian in 15 minutes to get to another appointment. That's just not fair to her paying client. (6) My skin was really irritated (read + bumps, not bruises) and actually PAINFUL to touch for days. Usually in about 12-18 hours, my skin is fine, but not this time. Needless to say, I wont be back. Ever. And that's why I only gave 1 star. Because no matter how cute the place is or how nice she is, the waxing experience was so bad that I'd rather shave then go back to her. read more

I highly recommend Anna - she's fantastic! I saw the reviews for Skin Utopia on Yelp and decided to give her a try. (She squeezed me in for an appointment, even though I'd called the day before). It's very hard to make a brazilian an enjoyable experience, but if anyone can do it, it's Anna. She's quick, *very* thorough, and puts you at ease immediately with her friendly personality. (Personally, I prefer someone who chats while their waxing me - it's a welcome distraction). The environment is cute, clean, and welcoming - a spa atmosphere without the spa price. I work in San Francisco and it's not uncommon to pay around $75 for a brazilian wax, but Anna charges only $40. She has great technique, too - this was the LEAST painful waxing experience I've ever had. read more

I was given a Facial Coupon for Mother's Day and was able to use it even with my Dermatitis Psoriasis while it was not acting up. Anna was wonderful and this was my first Facial. A marvelous experience and a great feeling all weekend. Already, I want another. She was very good about explaining what she was going to do and the comfortable level I would probably feel. She was so comforting and relaxed me to almost sleep! She told me that I get an upper back and a head massage. I told her I do not like those touched. So she gave me the most relaxing arm and hand massage. If you have Arthritis in your elbows and hands, THIS is the ticket! Cannot wait to go again! My sister is excited to go now! This is a fabulous spa for an indulgent little get away. The reception area is packed with interesting items you can buy, but you won't stay there for long. The friendly staff will take you away to the inviting changing room and then you will relax in the relaxation room. The relaxation room is secluded and beautiful with comfy chairs and chaise loungers. There is a nice assortment of refreshments. I had a facial and it was one of the best facials I've ever received. I was recommended by a good friend to go to Anna. I would never go back to her again and believe me I will be telling my friends never to go there.
