I went yesterday & the more I look at my brows the more pissed off I am. First off one of the ladies was totally rude to me when I was checking in on the tablet they have when you walk in. I should've just left then & there. The girl who did mine was nice but she just went through the motions of what she needed to do rather than actually paying attention. I don't like how she shaped them and she took off a chunk of the beginning of my left brow. I had issues with spareness in that area & instead of shaping it like she should have she straight up just took it off & I didn't realize it until I had left cause I felt rushed out of there. Now it'll take me freaking months to grow it back if it ever does. read more

I get my eyebrows done quite regularly - I had recently had them shaped. I walked in (first time here), and specifically gave the instructions "The shape is fine, please do not remove too much, keep them thick and just clean up the edges". She then proceeded to remove half of my right eyebrow. Awful attention to detail, never coming back. If you're in the San Mateo/foster city area and in need of a men's haircut, go see Cindy now. I've referred a number of people and they're now regulars. I prefer bald/mid fades, so if that's what you're looking for you still have to go to your regular barber. But what I like about Cindy is she cleans it up nicely (1/2 guard is her limit), she's fast - I'm out in 15 mins, and more importantly wants me to be happy. Plus, it's only $25-30 with tip. It might take a couple sessions to get your cuts just right, but we'll worth it imho. Ultimately it's about value. Yeah I'm not getting the super clean fades with the lineup, but if you're looking to save money and walk out with a good looking traditional men's haircut, Cindy will take care of you. I started going here after moving into the area earlier this year. I was a bit hesitant at first since I loved my previous threading place, but after today, I'm glad to have trusted them. Today my eyebrows were threaded by a more inexperienced lady, and it was obvious she struggled. I'd never had to reposition my hands so many times, and she was going at a slower rate so it felt more uncomfortable than usual. After she finished, one eyebrow was noticeably thicker than the other (which my friends confirmed). I returned to the salon shortly after to address the issue, at which point Shilpi offered to take a look herself and promptly evened out my brows. I also appreciated how she turned this into a learning opportunity for the other lady, giving constructive criticism so she could improve on in the future. The first time I went here, I was lucky enough to have my brows threaded by Samy. She knew EXACTLY what she was doing. She knew my natural brow shape without me having to say anything. She trimmed my brows properly and everything. This one star is not for Samy, but for my most recent visit last Sunday. One of my friends had told me she usually just walks in and gets her brows threaded by anyone available so I didn't think I had to request Samy again, but boy did my brows pay the consequences for not doing so. I had told the lady that I always fear getting my eyebrows done because I have had people rip most of my eyebrows off and make them uneven. I should've realized the red flag when I suggested we take my eyebrow makeup off first so she can see where to thread better and she said there was no need to. Samy on the other hand had done so without me asking. After her first round of threading I had tried to correct her and tell her it was uneven and too arched like checkmarks as my brow shape is more of a straight brow. We went back and forth, but I just kept loosing my precious eyebrows as I already have thin eyebrows as it is so I just stopped correcting her. She kept looking at the staff behind her and laughing? I guess it's funny that I'm very particular about my eyebrows because I really think they make or break your look. I felt like this was her first time threading and I was the guinea pig. I tried to see if she could salvage it by asking if she could fill them in. Again, Samy had done this without me asking. This lady made them look like sharpie block brows and I wanted to cry. I ended up asking if she had a qtip so I could try to fix them myself, but they only had tissue. I ended up with uneven brows, one thicker and more arched than the other with the starting points of my brows uneven now as well. I just gave up and wanted to get out of there ASAP. Everytime I look at my brows I want to cry. I hope they grow back fast. Lesson learned, I should've asked for Samy. read more

I have contemplated on writing this because I can get a bit creative.. I decided to burn my bridges and let that creativity flow. I've been here at least 5 times, I usually go with Shilpi, she does a a great job so I gave her that extra star. Then I saw a younger lady who did my brows and she was great. I wish I got her name but she was really honest and accommodated to my wishes. I'm very simple, clean up, keep it thick. My natural arch is pretty decent, I get many compliments even when I leave my brows undone. I rarely complain and I'm not picky because 1. I don't really care how they look, most people just follow my natural shape and then clean up the strays. 2. I'm not very pro, so I don't really know what looks good(which says a lot if I'm giving a negative review). And 3. I draw my brows in anyways, so I can usually fix minor mistakes. Yes. That means this lady REALLY EFFED UP on my brows. I don't even know wtf shape it is. I walked in and there was a bit of a wait, I'm willing to wait. When I was told to go to this young lady, she already looked like she didn't want to do my brows. Was it cause I was Chinese? Or cause I was young and looked like I couldn't afford to tip? I was in sweats? Or just the fact that you were tired? Either way, refuse service then if you were that reluctant. She didn't take off my make up, Shilpi usually doesn't either, but I trust the pros. That was the first sign. It was super painful. I get my brows done all the time at you name it, mazzys, shilpis, ziba, benefit, and salon image. Never was I in so much pain. Then when she finished, she barely even offered me the rosewater, I'm thinking because she didn't take off my make up anyways. The minute she finished, I looked in the mirror and it was already ugly. WITH my make up on. I told her she took off extra hairs and missed some other ones on my other brow. She says thats my brow and that she shouldn't take off anymore. I was honestly just trying to get her to do something, anything, to fix this hot mess. I've never been so unconfident walking around. I feel like crying. Ive been putting on so much castor oil hoping that it would grow back. I check every morning hoping that the holes are filled. She messed up that natural angle I had and UGH. Wow. Oh and to top it all off? I'm getting married in less than 2 months with hairs missing everywhere. Screw hiring a make up artist. I should just hire a plastic surgeon instead. Oh and not to mention, she cut me too. It's going to probably scab as its a deep cut. Will be posting pictures. I'm sure she knew she screwed up right after too, I didn't know how badly she screwed up until I saw my brows with no make up. read more

I LOVE getting my eyebrows threaded here. Surprisingly, I've been going to Shilpi since I first got my eyebrows done ever - when I was 13/14 years old!! Her old salon was at a different location in Foster City and I knew I had to follow her to her new place. I'm turning 25 this year and I currently live and work in LA. I actually only get my eyebrows done when I come home. I literally only trust this eyebrow salon. In terms of the pandemic, Shilpi and her team have taken the best precautions. It's nice that all services are by appointment only. Once you get there, you are given hand sanitizer at the door, get your temperature taken, and all employees are wearing masks. Every time I've gone during the pandemic, there are only a max of 2 clients in the salon at a time (with a distance of course). Honestly this is the only place I've been to that has been so consistent with keeping up with covid precautions. I always feel safe when I'm here and I highly recommend getting your beauty services here.
