WOW! I just stumbled upon Anna's business while looking to book an appointment for a Brazilian & back wax. It was my first Brazilian wax and she made it so quick and painless! She even squeezed time in for me to do a full back wax with a little discount! My back did have a skin reaction for a week or two (like razor bumps) but I have sensitive skin. Anna is wonderful! Her waxing room is clean and her methods are extremely sanitary. She ensures your comfort with utmost care and concern, whether you're a first-timer or a repeat customer. She will also take the time to ease any anxiety and even asks if you need a small break during the process. Some other Yelpers have mentioned that there is no changing room, which is accurate, but I don't consider this an issue since Brazilian waxes aren't for the modest types :-) I have had Brazilians at other shops, that resulted in ripped skin and ingrown hairs. Anna is awesome!!! I stumbled upon her about 6 months ago and won't go anywhere else for my intimate waxing. She is fast, precise and very clean. Just met Anna today, and she is awesome. I came here for a full Brazilian and was pretty nervous, afraid, and shy about it. You see, my first Brazilian experience before I came here was extraordinarily bad: it took 40 or so minutes, and I wanted to die. Anna is super friendly and made sure I was very comfortable. The Brazilian itself was surprisingly painless, really really quick (15 minutes tops), and very thorough. To give an idea of how painless it was, I was able to have a conversation with her without squealing in pain. She also takes care to make sure the temperature is okay for you throughout the waxing and is constantly keeping communication with you. For such a great service from her and a clean environment in a cute little shop, her price is very reasonable to me. She also has facial services, which I haven't done yet. As much as I read the reviews here, I was still nervous to get a bikini wax. I'm not new to waxing, I get my face done every 2 weeks, however I've heard time and time again how much bikini waxes hurt so much. I decided against the brazillian so did the traditional side waxes. Nobody told me it tickles. Probably just me..I'm ticklish everywhere. Anyway, Anna was amazing. She made me feel at ease. It didn't hurt too bad. Been meaning to do this since I started seeing Anna, which was in 2009! Yikes! Ok, here it is: I had always wanted to try a Brazilian, my sister had recently seen Anna herself, and so suggested I try her too, which I did, and here I am, three years later, happily regularly returning to Anna for my waxing services. Anna is a little gem of a gal, with a relaxed and down to earth personality that is just perfect for making clients feel at ease before the dreaded Brazilian wax! (In actuality, the wax itself is no worse than a band-aid tug, and Anna uses natural products that soothe the skin during, and after the treatment, so it really helps!) There is no pretentiousness about the process with Anna; it's rather like a good friend is doing you a favor, as she is friendly and talkative during the procedure. But just because she's familiar doesn't mean she's unprofessional. She's incredibly professional, and thorough too, always asking me--to this day even after three years!---if the temperature of the wax is comfortable, how much hair I'd like removed, etc. Additionally, she is consistent in her removal process, which I find to be the true hallmark of a professional; you know what to expect every time. I found Anna through Living Social and I never looked back. I've been a dedicated client for over 6 months now. I get a microdermabrasion facial every four weeks. Anna's facials are amazing. Through her care, my skin has cleared up like a miracle. The tone and texture is the best I've ever had in my life. She is one of the best aestheticians I've ever found at doing thorough yet gentle extractions. I have not found anyone else whose pricing and quality can compare. I got a Brazilian wax from Anna and while the wax was painful, it was actually one of the LEAST painful waxing experiences I have had. She's super fast too -- I was out in about 15 minutes. There was a deal on Groupon and I told myself, why not, let me try something new. BAD IDEA. For one thing they re-dipped (Gross! Something Anna never does) and put me in the most awkward positions. I was looking for a relaxing facial but what I got was pain and scars. The experience started out well. Anna's super friendly and really tried to understand what I was looking for in a facial. Her little cottage was cute and inviting. Anna also gave an amazing head massage. Everything was fine and dandy until she started the extraction. Boy, was it an experience!! And not a good one! It was the most PAINFUL experience possible, so much so that I started having tears. Just when I thought it was done, she did some more! Even the neck/shoulder massage afterward didn't help. After the facial, I told Anna how painful the extractions were and she did admit that she went to town on my pores. I was really ready to forget and forgive but 3 days after the facial, I still have scars on my face from the extraction - not redness, but SCARS! I will never go back to her again. read more

I agree with everyone here that her waxing services are great but you should also try her other services. Her facials are great value for money and she really listens to what your needs are and takes your skin condition and state into consideration. Highly recommend her. The only reason why it is not 5 stars is because she rents her space from the cheesiest hair salon downstairs. They sell knock off bags and the downstairs salon staff is surly and rude. I was amazed at how super sweet Anna was and at the incredible speed with the Brazilian waxing. I called to make an appointment the day before. I went to skin utopia for my eyebrow wax appointment. I have never had my eyebrows waxed before cuz usually i go with threading so i was kinda skeptical about it. Anna is a really nice woman and she told me to stick with threading if thats what makes me comfortable. She did not try to lure me into getting my eyebrows waxed from her as any other business oriented person would. She helped me find another salon which she knows does good threading. So i am thankful to her for being so helpful and nice. First you enter in a very smooth beauty cocoon with good Music (I had Ray Charles "I gotta woman" for my brazilian Bikini! What else?) I've been coming to Skin Utopia regularly for the past few months so I feel like it's time to write a review. I recently moved to San Mateo in August and was looking for a salon in the area. Luckily, I stumbled across Skin Utopia's website during my online search and decided to try this place to get my Brazilian. I was nervous at my first appointment but Anna made me feel right at home. She is always super friendly and my wax jobs are quick and professional. The prices here are very fair too. I'm of Asian descent so I don't have as much hair to remove for my Brazilian. Since I take much less time than others, and probably resources, Anna has NEVER charged me full price for my Brazilians. She knows that I don't require as much work, so she gives me a very fair price. I have never met an Esthetician that has done that for me. She's also always willing to wax my brows or tint them when I show up at the salon, even though I didn't schedule an appointment for those services! In summary, even though I'm moving to the East Bay, I will definitely be sticking with Anna! Her salon and services are well worth the hour long drive. I tried Anna for the 1st time yesterday for waxing and have to tell you I was impressed. I should let you know that I can get addicted to waxing as I am obsessed with getting rid of all body hair. Usually when I leave a place after waxing, I find my clothes would have stuck to any wax not cleaned off my legs, etc. Anna was very clean and fast and for the first time, when I got home and undressed, I did not find any residue wax.
