I am disappointed with my recent laser hair removal appointment with Mara. I have had laser treatments on multiple occasions at this spa, including at other providers such as SEV and I have never experienced bleeding during or after a session until this visit. During this visit, Mara dry shaved my legs (they had already been shaved prior to this appointment). She dry shaved my legs really rough and not carefully, I noticed several areas that were bleeding and later developed marks that look very similar to razor cuts. This was my first appointment where I was dry shaved by the nurse literally seconds before the laser was done. When I brought this up during the appointment, my concerns were repeatedly attributed to my skin, stating that "that's just how your skin is" despite the fact that I have undergone many laser treatments without ever having this issue. I also want to add their patient portal is inaccurate. My appointment says my provider was Noelle, even after the appointment it's not documented / updated correctly who my provider was. Based on my experience, the marks appear more consistent with shaving-related cuts than a typical laser reaction. While I understand that different reactions can happen, I expected my concerns to be taken seriously and addressed professionally. read more

I've gotten multiple rounds of laser hair removal and picosure, and a chemical peel at Skinlicious over the past few years and had a great experience each time. The staff are thorough, friendly and professional. The communication is clear during the procedures and they've always reminded me of the aftercare as well. They made sure I was comfortable and the pain was tolerable during the procedures. I've had great, long lasting results with the laser hair removal. I did 4+ rounds of picosure for my sunspots and freckles and it definitely helped reduce them. Love the ease of access and simplicity of the location. It's clean, spacious, and practical. All the staff and nurses are polite, gentle and friendly. Today, I was cared for by Crystal. I've only used their laser hair removal service but after having some decent sessions at another location, I realized quickly when I start coming here how much stronger and more efficient their laser technology is compared to most spots. I have light/olive skin with dark thick hair and take very well to laser hair removal. I also appreciate that they are reasonably priced compared to some other medspas. For those who are worried about the pain, do your research... there are a few different factors, including pain tolerance as well as skin tone, contrast to hair, and hair texture. Extremely disappointing experience. I was gifted a Groupon for 6 sessions two years ago and later (a few months ago) purchased another 6-session Groupon myself. When I called to book my appointment, I was told I couldn't use a Groupon more than once. When I explained to the lady on the phone that I didn't see any mention of this policy and that the first one was gifted to me, she still insisted that I could not use what I had purchased. This restriction isn't stated anywhere. Not on Groupon, not on their website, and it was never mentioned before I purchased. I didn't even buy the first Groupon, so this policy was especially frustrating. It's so disappointing to pay for a service and only find out afterward that you can't actually use it. I've since purchased another six-session package elsewhere and am excited to use that instead. I'd recommend taking your business somewhere that's more upfront and transparent, who will honor what you spent your money on. I've been here several times already and I've loved my visit each time. I've gotten nurse Noelle (I believe is her name) and she helped me with my Botox requests. Every visit the staff have been so friendly and amazing. The nurses are very accommodating especially with appointments and I wouldn't want to get my Botox anywhere else. I had a great experience at Skinlicious for both laser hair removal sessions. I opted into their 3 sessions for $90 special which is a great deal. The person who did my first session was very patient and informative while explaining how laser hair removal worked, what to avoid for the next few hours following the session, etc. I did not feel rushed at all and felt comfortable asking questions. My second session was just as good. I was in and out in 10 minutes. The receptionist even scheduled my next session while I was waiting to be called into my session. Parking can be tricky during busy hours (dinner time and weekends) but I've never had issues for my morning appointment or early afternoon appointment. I wanted to keep this place a secret because it's hard to find a good aesthetic spa in the Peninsula. It took me a while to find an injector whom I can trust. I used to work in plastic surgery so my standards are pretty high. The receptionist (female) wasnt able to answer my questions regarding the injector's credentials and background. Great experience! I went to their website and they had a special for 6 sessions of Brazilian and Underarm laser hair removal for $400- awesome! I have had sessions before at a couple different medispas but this place if my favorite so far. It was easy to book with them over the phone and via text. When I arrived I wasn't under any pressure to purchase more (just so you know, this does happen in other places!) and had to fill out forms for the treatment. They actually have a virtual consultation with a nurse which is amazing- they really do their due diligence here for your health. The nurse was so lighthearted and kind, I let her know before hand that I am a crybaby and she was so cool about it. The front desk guy was awesome too- props to this team! Please read my previous review because this is the follow up. Now that I'm seeing actual prp injections on social media where they take the prp and inject it with a needle subdermally, I realize there was a lot of misinformation and lack of simple basic knowledge from the practitioner. Nurse May should have known the difference between prp injections and prp microneedling, and like I said I asked twice if they were injections. An informed nurse would know the difference. It leads me to believe either nurse May did not know the difference between injection and microneeding which is not ok if you're going to be doing procedures on my face, or she was just saying these things to get me to come to my appointment instead of trying to find another clinic who actually did injections read more

However I am docking off 2 stars because my most recent appointments have been late and the receptionists are not professional at all in telling you they're running late. Instead I had to ask them around 15 mins of waiting whether I was checked in at all to be told by the young guy who just looks up from his phone and goes, "Ya I did check you in. oh yeah the nurse is late" and then he goes back on his phone. Okay, talk about professionalism. Shouldn't you be telling the customer that the appointment will be a bit late without having them ask you first? I found Skinlicious through Groupon and was a bit nervous as I had never done a laser treatment before. My Groupon came with 6 sessions and it was really easy to use it. The front staff is nice and really tried their best to get you the appointment that works best for you. The staff doing the laser removal are really great on explaining the after care and even explaining what is happening doing the procedure. Parking is a bit tough to find as there is only street parking available, but my hasn't taken me longer than 10 minutes to find something. May was very sweet and always made sure to check on me during the sessions to ensure I wasn't in too much pain. I recently went back for a touch up and bought their package ($120 for 3 sessions for a large area); which I think is a steal compared to waxing which is already $60 for each session. I was able to make an appointment online since I was a prior customer which made it a lot easy for me to plan ahead. However, I was disappointed to find that they are not considerate enough to accommodate same-day cancellations due to unforeseen weather conditions. This is a rather inhumane policy. Had a great experience coming here for my very first laser hair removal experience! After researching Groupon prices, I realized that getting lasered would be about equal in price to getting sugar waxed. They have great deals on 6 session packages which I highly recommend! Upon arriving, I immediately noted that the clinic was very clean and aesthetically pleasing. My nurse, Crystal, was absolutely amazing! She was so kind and patient with me; she took her time explaining everything in detail so that I knew exactly what to expect. While she was lasering my bikini area, she worked slowly and paused between areas to ensure that I was able to tolerate the pain. To my surprise, the pain was very minimal in comparison to getting waxed, and the process was so, so, so much quicker! I had to wait about a month and a half to book the initial appointment, but don't let that discourage you -- there's much more availability for follow up appointments.
