Skinny's is exactly what you'd hope for when looking for an afternoon burger joint on the island. Lots of outdoor seating, solid service, and very respectable food. The place is a little hole in the wall that gets quite a bit of traffic on the weekends, but we managed to get our food within 15 or so minutes despite the crowd. The food overall was good. Not amazing, not bad, just good. Burgers are easy to do well and hard to do REALLY well, and Skinny's knows this in stride. The burger itself is a fine deal (especially considering tourist prices): $9 for a cheeseburger. However, what put a sour taste in my mouth (metaphorically) was the chicken bites. See that little plate of 5-6 chicken nugget things? Yeah, that was $11. Very tasty, but at $2 a wing, that is truly the ripoff of a century. Overall, Skinny's hits the middle of the road in all aspects: food, ambiance, value. Convenient little burger joint right as you come across the bridge on Holmes Beach (turn left on Gulf drive and it's on the left). Loved that they had an outdoor space as well travel with our dog. Date of visit: 5/26/2024 Sunday I had been planning to come to this place for weeks and the time had come to make the trip, forgot it was Memorial Day weekend and the traffic was quite mad...tried to come here the day before but just couldn't make the drive. Came across Cortez then headed north on the Gulf Drive. Traffic had let up in this direction. Made it to 39th street and found a spot out front, not many spots for a day like today. From the outside it looks like the makings of a great beach burger joint. Even when you enter you still get that vibe. Really laid back spot, I like it so far. Nice girl at the bar asked what I wanted...Bud light draft to start, when brought it back I finished my order with cheese burger, LTO and fries. It wasn't that long of a wait and my burger was delivered but with no LTO, hmmm, she was busy maybe didn't get the whole order. By this time it was really busy inside and didn't want to bother them. I really thought I was gonna get a smash burger with some crust but it was just a regular burger, nothing special. It had some taste but not what the atmosphere was projecting, I was waiting to be WOW'd but wasn't. Overall, just a so so burger and fries. Had a pretty decent draft beer selection--saw quite a few folks with a pitcher and others with frosty mugs. Honestly, the food was kind of average. I got the bacon cheeseburger and I'd give it a C+. I will say that my boys did enjoy the chicken bites though. We all had some fries that were solid. I feel like this place is all about the location and the proximity to the beach. We were on Anna Maria Island for vacation, and our house was literally 1 street away from Skinny's Place. Looked like a neat little place, and consistently crowded, so we gave it a try (wife, 4 kids, and myself). It is a very small place - inside seating is very minimal. I would say there are only 3 or 4 picnic style tables inside, a couple of high-top 2 seater tables, and a very small bar-top that seated maybe 2 or 3 people on top of being the place where you place your order. That being said, who wants to sit inside at the beach? There was more than enough places to sit outside on one of their tables under an umbrella. It was a cool place, definitely a beach/island vibe. The employees were very friendly and helpful. The food was good, not incredible (that's not a knock at all). The food is exactly what we wanted and expected - a burger joint, low-key, quick, good, good service. My wife and I agreed that the pricing was actually very reasonable (if not actually inexpensive being a vacation spot). A few of my boys got the chili cheese dogs (all beef) and my other two kiddos (and my wife and I) got the burgers with fries for everyone. I think the total for all of that was like $75 - so, roughly $11-ish a person (tax plus tip). I'm not a drinker but they did have, what appeared to be, a decent selection of draft and bottled beer. Good food, good atmosphere, good vibe. Would definitely go back if we visit A.M.I. again. read more

The AMI landmark does it again! Skinny's is one of those unassuming shacks that you drive past but need to stop at. They serve up the basics like burgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, fries, onion rings, etc. What really sets them apart from most, is they do these basics incredibly well. The last time i went, i pulled up and parked right in front of what looks like a beach shack. Once you get to the front of the line you are greeted and you start to roll your order out. Then i got to the end and i heard "you want a beer?" When i declined she said "wait, isn't that the benefit of being the guy who picks it up?" She sold me on that drink faster than a guy selling water in the desert because how could i say no to that? I always go for the double with cheese and add the lettuce/onion/tomato. It delivers every single time. Cooked perfectly, seasoned right and better with every bite! We also get a hot dog or two and a couple orders of their chicken pieces. Another wonderful AMI recommendation from multiple sources, this is the place to go for all things burgers while you are at AMI. There are many places you can go to get a quick meal, but Skinny's is one you need to move to the top of your list. A lot of people say that it is very hard to screw up a hamburger, but I disagree. I have had some horrible burgers at some places, and I think it's quite the opposite. It's even harder to make a GREAT burger. Skinny's seems to have perfected the art of the great burger. The menu is simple, and ordering is even easier. When you walk into the place, it is very small and busy with lots of unique décor. The menus are hanging on the post as you walk in and the staff is great. I just ordered the double cheeseburger and fries with a water and the rest of our group did the same or similar. We sat right outside the door by the road (it was quite with minimal traffic) and they brought the food right to us. While the fries were just average, the burger was dynamite. Juicy and tender patty, gooey cheese, fresh toppings, and a soft bun. I wish I could say more but the simplicity and welcoming feeling of Skinny's makes it a must visit restaurant while you are there. read more

The onion and tomatoes are slice too thick and bigger then the bread and burger. All I tasted was bread and onion from this shity burger for $8.00. "where's the beef". I had the runs all night. Next time I need laxative, I know where to go for $8.00. The men's bathroom was disgusting.
