Opened in 2015, the Siesta Sun Deck is a restaurant and observation deck overlooking the Siesta Key Public Beach, winner of the title of the number one beach in the country in 2011 and best beach in the U.S. by Trip Advisor in 2020. The casual, counter service restaurant serves burgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers, fries, snacks, beer, wine, and frozen drinks. It was closed when I visited but you could still use the tables if you brought your own food. There are also restrooms at the top that were clean. You can reach the top of the deck either by stairs or a wheelchair accessible ramp. Once you make the climb you are rewarded with a beautiful view of the beach on one side and an overlook of the playground on the parking lot side. On my way down I spotted a pair of really cool poured cement lounge chairs at the base of the deck, a cute place to take a rest. It's worth the climb to the top of the deck to get the best view of the best beach.

Cute little beach concession stand with really good food on Siesta Beach. We ordered a Fire Cracker Shrimp Wrap and a Blackened Chicken Sandwich. Both were delicious and hit the spot. The fries were extra good.

Doggystyle offers regular sized dogs for more money but what you get is exceptional. It is the difference between cramming food down your throat vs really appreciating a good dog. Doggystyle has identified 12 regions around the US that offer their versions of hot dogs. Most of us are aware of the Chicago dog, but there are many, many more. I looked over their website before I arrived and decided on their Detroit dog and their Oklahoma dog. I encourage you to look at the great photos on their website. They all looked so appealing. You order at the counter, and they bring you your food when it's ready, in my case it was 6 or 7 minutes. What attracted me to the Oklahoma dog was the BBQ sauce on top. It was sweet with bits of bacon or pork, with cheese and grilled onions. The slightly toasted bun was perfect. So good. I picked the Detroit dog because it looked like a really good chili cheese dog with raw onions on top, and it was. It was even just a little spicy. It was another excellent choice on my part. Maybe they are all excellent choices. Love the concept, love the food.

Very convenient food stand located right on the beach…read more If you didn't bring a SINGLE snack like us to the beach and skipped breakfast (I know I know, WHO does that?) then you'll literally be the happiest human to know this place exists. We were in the mood for an easy beach day and didn't want to make a million stops and pack all the things. Knowing this place was around made our beach day so easy. Pros: breakfast food is available until 11am, they have all kinds of snacks, drinks, food - from burgers to nachos, quesadillas to grilled cheese. Cons: it's just a fast food spot, nothing super special about the food, the staff is half nice half stand off ish, the in house canned margaritas are just artificial lemonade. What I love the MOST about this place is you can place an order online ahead of time. Even better, you can place an order right from your beach chair and then meet at a specific meet point and they'll deliver it to you. Super cool and convenient especially with the extra long walk to their stand. I genuinely love the home made margarita cans but it would be nice if they actually put some tequila in it. Sadly, you do pay for a cocktail and get an extra light version of it.

Out-of-the-way places that are unexpected treasures are my favorite places to find myself . For today's review, let me invite you to the unusual yet very ordinary locale that is Siesta Beach Sand Pavilion. First, we start with a word about Siesta Beach. It is an award-winning stop noted for its most define quartz sand in the country, if not the world. Add to a tremendous location Sarasota surrounding environment makes CSO a hotspot for beach, lovers, family, getaways, and people watching extraordinaire. A special note about Siesta Key Beach Drum Circle's that take place here at sunset Sunday nights. The sand pavilion serves up some unexpectedly good comfort foods. The main feature for me that I always plan to have whenever I'm in Sarasota is the blackened mahi-mahi sandwich. Fresh fish, great seasoning made to order perfect every time. The sandwich is served up on a great bun with lettuce, tomato and onion the condiments that you might care for are available at your request. There's nothing vin ordinaire about the sandwich they serve. Honorable mention besides the blackened fish sandwich are the chicken tenders and other great comfort foods. You also have a variety of great cold beer choices, and access to sheltered seating and washrooms to give yourself a well-deserved break from the sun for your time at Siesta Key Beach. The sand Pavilion is staffed by friendly, efficient staff that always seem to add a touch of local charm. The Santa pavilion at Siesta Key Beach is a bit off the beaten path away from the mainland, and can be very crowded about any given time that the weather might be nice enough for a stop at the beach. Take my word, it's worth it every time! Until next time...tk
