No frills, diner atmosphere. If you are just looking for a quick burger that's cheap, this is your place. I got the Swiss and mushroom and the Swiss cheese was exceptionally good. Served in like a paper small bowl. I also got a side order of the potato salad. I really didn't care for it. Not very creamy and had a vinegar taste to it. Hubby got a bacon double cheeseburger. Road Trip 8/17 Took Fritz for a drive to AMI (Anna Maria Island) just to have a burger at Duffy's. I had arrived on the island sort of early so stop at a local dive bar was in order...Bortell's Lounge, my idea of a dive, but nice. Just stopped in for one and headed on my way to Duffy's. Got to Duffy's around 12:30 and plenty of parking to choose from. Walked inside and found a spot at the bar, yes. After all, all orders are taken at the bar, no table service here which is fine with me. I was immediately ask what Id have as soon as I sat...I ordered the cheeseburger with LTO...however, I was never asked how I would like it cooked. I believe they cook them all the same way, medium with just the bit of pink. I would of liked it cooked just a bit longer but a really good burger and juicy. So juicy that it filled the bottom of what they served it in, something fries would come in, so I needed to hold it the whole time. No fries here, just chips, potato salad and coleslaw. Just the fact that they have plenty of parking, when visiting the island and need a burger and don't care about fries, this is the place go. A true burger joint. Peace read more

My fiancée grew up in Bradenton and has hyped this place up over the years. She doesn't even eat meat, so I've always been skeptical of how good this dive bar burger could be. Queue the saliva-inducing food porn. It's juicy, it's meaty, dare I say unctuous? I said it. This burger rocks! As far as the bar is concerned, it's a beach dive. To my surprise and astonishment, they actually close at 8pm. Which I still can't wrap my head around. Locals say it's more of a post-beach spot. By the look of it, you'd never know. Not that need to change anything. Clearly they've won the hearts and minds of locals for over half a century, who cares what I think? I STILL FIND IT CRAZY THEY DON'T SERVE FRIES. Having grown up in the area, I remembered them having a great burger, so I had to revisit to see of it was still as good as I remembered. It was actually better. This spot is a local island dive bar. The people are friendly and the service is as well. The bartenders were great throughout my visit. I decided I needed a burger and a beer. I went with a double cheeseburger with bacon, onion, and pickles. The burger came out and it looked exceptional. It was the ideal flat top style burger with crispy edges and oozing melted cheese. I dove in and was very happy with my selection. The burger was seasoned and cooked perfectly. This is a classic burger made perfectly. It really hit the spot and the price point was very reasonable. Went to see how they faired after the hurricanes. Looked like the Duffy's they we knew. There were some miss license plates on the bar. We love the place, we are snowbirds and we enjoy watching people. Please don't come, if you're not ready to do a little fending for yourself. You have to order from the bar, when your food is ready they will bring to you. That is the way it works, if you want another beverage, you will have to get up and get. They are cash only and who blames them, fees on credit cards are getting ridiculous and you are now see establishments charging an up charge. Typical local bar known for their burgers. We placed a large takeout order with 7 burgers and different sides. We tried to order potato salad but they said it wouldn't be ready. They offered collard greens instead, which was weird considering that isn't even on their menu. Two of the burgers were ordered to have bacon added but they forgot to add it on both. The burgers were tasty and were definitely better than fast food options and most bars but I wouldn't say it's the best on the island. The coleslaw and collard greens were both enjoyed by everyone. The staff was very friendly and our large order was ready within 15 minutes of calling, just like they said. read more

When we got the butrgers nome, we could only eat half of each of them as they were extremely red in the middle and well undercooked. Passed it on our bikes a number of times before stopping in. This place is probably a locals popular stop. They have outdoor seating that is private from the road and indoor seating. Children are welcome and we noticed a number of families coming and going, eating hotdogs and hamburgers with their kids, and people running in for a beer while waiting on a Togo order. First and foremost, this place has AMAZING burgers! Definitely stop here if you want a juicy, basic burger. I had the cheeseburger "all the way"and others had the hamburger or the caramelized onion and Brie burger. I got the Cole slaw, which was not very flavorful. I would skip it next time. We all really enjoyed our food overall! The service here is not great. You must order at the bar, which is fine, but our drinks didn't come up until after we went up and asked 10 minutes into waiting. But the food came out promptly. The atmosphere here is pretty typical for a bar with basic food and had a nice casual quality. However, I found it very unpleasant to see a confederate flag "license plate" posted on the bar wall next to other license plates as decor. I don't think that posting a confederate flag as part of a restaurants decor provides a welcoming environment for all customers. Furthermore, upon inspection it wasn't even a real license plate (see no letters or numbers or state insignias), which indicates to me that the plate was bought for the sole purpose of display. I understand that it's Florida, but I think that using this item as decor sends a message that not all people are welcome. read more

Ambiance : 5/5 It's a "Tavern" so manage the expectations on decor. Lots of bar seating ( no social distancing in the year of Covid) and masks are "optional". Several tables for medium size parties.
