If you're looking for a local pub, that has very good food, and serves Malort, has a bunch of TVs with a bunch of different sports, I would recommend the Dam bar. The bartenders are friendly, very easy on the eyes, and are simply downright excellent people. Now let's be realistic. If you're looking for a fillet mignon. This is not the place. But if you're looking for good burgers, good sweet potato fries, an excellent Reuben, a monster salad, and a chicken quesadilla that's loaded, and a crazy loaded jalapeño thing, this place is for you. If you're looking for Michelin level cuisine and waitresses that scrape the table cloths during your meal...yeah, no. I've seen a few of the comments talking about individual situations, and I can say if you're looking to be a jerk, then you'll probably be treated like a jerk, then please don't come back and the rest of us will be quite happy not to observe your drama. I would put the Dam bar in the top 5 of all bars in Kane County. And the number #1 pub in Geneva. And we have a lot of good pubs in Geneva too. Had some great drinks and better than expected food at this bar in Geneva. It for some reason wasn't busy the evening we came in. The Dam is one of the many bars around here so maybe it was just because there's too many to go to. Lots of cheap drink specials to know about and save a bit. You can also get some food healthier than the typical greasy and fried stuff. Chill place when it's earlier. It's got a nice view of the river and has a patio. The inside has the bar in the middle, and is pretty clean looking, so it's not really a dive bar atmosphere it seems. Has great happy hours that are cheap. It's $3 for Miller Lite on Mondays. There's tons of other specials to look out for weekly. It's about $12 a burger. They have the Impossible Burger for plant based eating. Great place for a gathering and chill atmosphere. Bartender to customer on NYE 2023-24: "Don't be a cocky bitch"..... It I could leave no stars on this review I would. What a joke this place is. There was a wedding at the location smack next to it that got married NYE We thought it would be cool to go to this bar afterwards, THE WHOLE PARTY. Well. Were we DAM wrong. This was the worst bar I have ever been to, never the less on New Year's Eve. There was at least 40-50 of us in there and we were already getting shut down at 1:10. It is BELOW FREEZING and we were all waiting for a wedding bus to get there that they were aware of. A SERVER/BAR BACK mentioned to us that we had to be out by 2am (understandable as it's a bar), but still kicked everyone out by 1:30. I've been a server for 6 years and had to work these days. You WANT people to be at your place for future and for better reviews than these. The so called "owner" who seemed to be the bartender was being rude and called one of the wedding guests a, and quote, "a cocky bitch" because she mentioned when the place actually closed. How sad. We popped in here randomly while in town for a wedding. It has a definite locals vibe. It's the kind of place where everyone's head swivels when you walk in to gauge whether they know you or not. Nothing about it was hostile, just curious. There are video games and all sorts of diversions, ample tables, a decent bar area. It's more divey than anything, which is fine with me. The beer selection was fun because it was more local to that part of Illinois which meant more check-ins for my Untappd account. We did have some food and it was typical pub fare. Supposed to be open until 2am on New Year's Eve - kicked a party of 20 of us out at 1:35am - 15 degrees outside, waiting for a 2am shuttle and we were part of a wedding party but they let 10 regulars stay inside while we freezer outside. Owner called my girlfriend a b*tch for asking if we could stay inside until 1:50 for our ride. Came here late at night for some drinks and bar food with friends. It's a small place, but wasn't overly crowded. They have a bar, eight high top tables, an electronic gold game, and darts. Drinks were made quickly and were not particularly strong or weak. Service was quick and fairly accommodating. We ordered some wings, pickle fries, pretzels with cheese, and burger sliders. The wings or ok, but not outstanding. Breading was a bit bland, and the sauces were meh. The pretzels were pretty good, but the cheese sauce tasted like it came out of a can. Been here more then just a few times because I liked the wings. Have been here with my wife and solo a few times for a drink and a bite. It's a cool little place. Without fail, every time I've been here, be it with my wife or by myself, the service is what makes me leave. I hate to say it, but unless you're a regular, you almost feel unwelcome. The staff spends an absurd amount of time hanging out with their friends/regulars, serving them 2 and 3 drinks to my one. It's not like they were missing me, I/we sit at the bar every time. Classic dive bar that has all the essentials: booze, food, and daily specials. The Dam Bar & Grill is nestled in the courtyard that is also home to Riverside Receptions. I was there with my sister and my parents checking out the venue for my sister's wedding. Afterwards we were hungry and it was raining, so this bar was super convenient to pop into on our way out! Specials on a Tuesday were $1.75 beef tacos, $5 Jack Daniels, $3 Rebel, and another $3 beer I had never heard of. Their menu is stacked with all different items - appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, and even a kids menu. Way bigger menu than I was anticipating. I had a couple Revolution Anti Hero beers ($6) and so did my dad. My mom took advatage of the Jack and coke special and my sister had a Stella. Our waitress was really nice and gave suggestions, but it did take her a while to greet us initially. We also were never offered water which was weird. To start my mom and I split the loaded tots which were good. These golden brown tater tots were piled high and topped with melted cheddar, mozzarella, bacon and pico de gallo. Perfect for 3-4 people to split as an app. For my meal I went with two beef tacos since that special was hard to pass up. They offered either Mexican or American style tacos. I went with the Mexican which included beer, onion, and cilantro in a corn tortilla (just like a street taco). The American tacos from what I understood were more like Taco Bell style - lettuce tomato and cheese. Regardless, the tacos were really good! I'd say 2 is the perfect amount if you're having an app, otherwise I could have easily eaten 3. If my sister ends up getting married at the venue next door, I can guarantee I will find myself at The Dam Bar again! read more

I won a gift card so we decided to check out the Dana bar for a Saturday night dinner. It reminds me a lot of a neighborhood bar that just doesn't happen to be in a neighborhood. We had mozzarella sticks for an app. They were decent although the ceiling and floor on mozzarella sticks are pretty close together. My wife had a buffalo chicken wrap that had a nice flavor to it. It had a good but not overbearing zip and was certainly an ample size. I had a Reuben because I love Reuben's. Again, not the bet one I've ever had nor the worst. The staff was nice and courteous. If someone asked if I wanted to go there for dinner I'd definitely go with. I'm also not rushing back either though. Good not great from a first time visitor. read more
