I don't really post reviews but I've just had a really disappointing experience with this place. I've been giving Skullfade a few tries now since it's convenient for me to get to but haven't been able to find a barber who can cut my hair right. Decided to try this location and booked with Mark T, hoping that the guy who started Skullfade would be able to give me a great cut. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The day I booked I got a call asking to reschedule for the following day due to an emergency; okay, sure no problem.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I go the next day for my scheduled appointment. First off the shop was not clean; hair all over the floor, like everywhere, and the stations looked dirty. While I was sitting and waiting to be called, a barber who was blow drying the hair away from his station and blew a bunch of someone else's cut hair right at my feet. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The girl at the front desk then assigns me to some random barber to cut my hair, no explanations as to why Mark T isn't cutting my hair and no apologies.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Haircut was like most of my other cuts at Skullfade, alright but not what I asked for. This was one of the worst and most unprofessional haircut experiences I've had in a while. read more

Made an appointment online for a scissor haircut with Henry. I was seated quickly & handed a nice cold bottle of water. Henry & I shared a brief chat about what I wanted and he started dampening & trimming away! Henry interrupted the cut 3-4 times to text which kind of bugged me, but he explained it was discussing, with his brother, the transportation of his Mom to shop later in the day. In any case, the results were what I sought & included a neck & sideburn razor finish. He also provided a brief electric scalp massage which was really pleasant. I was going to leave it at that...but then saw they offered facials. So Julia happily took me to her chair. A hot eucalyptus scented towel. Several topical treatments were applied & gently removed with a warm face towel (cleanser, exfoliant, moisturizing lotion to name 3) followed by a neck & chin massage. Really luxurious experience. I highly recommend a visit to Henry and/or Julia if you need a little self care. read more

Went here yesterday and left extremely disappointed. The barber didn't even bother to wet my hair before cutting, which should be a basic step. My haircut is noticeably uneven, and honestly looks worse than before I walked in. On top of that, the barber was extremely rough -- at one point I genuinely thought he might clip my ear off. Overall it was a terrible experience, both in the quality of the cut and the lack of care. I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone looking for a good haircut. read more

This is a great barber shop. Mark gave me my first haircut when my office moved to FiDi. He did a great job so I went back. I switched to Henry since Mark wasn't available when I came back the second time. Henry does a great job. I like to be edgy but I have a corporate job so he gave me a cut that looks good at the office and at the club. I also recommended Henry to my bf who wanted an edgier look. Henry gave him a totally rad look. My boyfriend gets compliments on his hair everywhere we go. Also, the atmosphere at the shop is totally cool. They have booze if you feel like having a drink. Also, they always invite us to their parties. It's definitely a place where you can look great and even maybe make a new friend. read more

I have always been insecure about my sweating and the founder, Mark, turned the AC down, faced his fan on me, and constantly checked on me when he saw me sweating. I needed a haircut badly. I have a medium curl in my hair. They had a weirdly cool attitude. Barely spoke to me when I went in to make an appointment. Another barber chimes in eventually and said a name of a barber that he thought would be best for me. I got an appointment for the next day. I got there the next day at the right time. Was taken to get my hair wet then sat. Showed him a photo of what I wanted. It was totally doable and more or less said yes ok. During the cut I felt him pulling on the hair he was working on, not painfully, but it was hard to keep my head straight. I've never felt such a thing getting a haircut. He kept scraping my ears and scalp with the comb. Cut himself with scissors and had to stop for first aid. Then showed me a lot of cuts on his hands! The haircut itself is fine, but when it came to the styling part, he did the exact opposite anyone with curly hair would do. He blasted with a blow dryer, rubbing the top of my head vigorously. Then used something called texture spray. He used half a bottle. Texture? Texture of a dirt road. When he was done I looked like a dandelion. I wasn't really happy. When I got home I had to wash it twice to get the texture spray out. Luckily the haircut isn't that bad or I'd give 1 star. It's the same price as better places. Not goinbg back there.
