Stopped by as we were in the mood for a mom and pop type burger place for some burgers and breakfast burritos. Took my family there and between all of us we got breakfast burritos, burger, pancakes and menudo. Burgers were typical and ok, burritos same, pancakes were pretty good but the menudo lacked flavor. There wasn't really any service since it's a mom and pops place since it was more of a self serve for most things, but expected. All the food we got was not bad, nothing that wowed us or that we didn't like necessarily, the burritos were a little on the smaller side but otherwise good. Again this was a neutral experience I would say I would give it another try sometime if I am in the area again. read more

This was my first visit to Sky Burgers. It's in a location that I would never just happen across, I discovered it based on a glowing review with photos in a Facebook Group called AV Restaurant Support Group. I have no regrets for driving out of my way to this little gem. I ordered a pastrami sandwich. That's it! No combo, no shakes, no special sides. Just a pastrami sandwich. I went to the drive-thru and the guy said it comes with mustard and pickles. I asked if he could also add a little mayo. I know, I've been told I'm weird but it really is delicious! I picked up the sandwich and drove 15+ minutes home. I took out a plate and opened the paper wrapper and was greeted by a behemoth of a sandwich! Good size roll but the bread isn't too thick, and the meat to bread ratio was a sight to see! Much like the pastrami sandwiches you find in DTLA or Silverlake. The meat was sliced perfectly, not too fatty, it was still warm and it had clearly been dipped in a broth. The pastrami was piled high with the aforementioned mustard and pickles.. and my mayo. They had me at the first bite! I've had pastrami sandwiches from plenty of delis and this one can hold its own against the best of them. I'll probably get flack for this, but I'd actually say Sky Burgers is better than the iconic "The Hat" ! It was only around $8, and two normal people could actually share the sandwich if they split some fries or a salad with it. No skimping here! This was the best Pastrami sandwich I've had in the AV, and also ranks high in So CA in general. You ask, how good was it? Food is very bland no flavor what so ever. Went first to try a burger and the patty was flavorless fries are decent and their chili is all watered down flavorless. I went back today to try to give them another chance and tried their tacos asada. Pretty descent spot for lunch. I came here for the first time today with some co-workers and their menu is pretty big, and the prices are more than fair. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, which was pretty good, and the fries had a good seasoning on them as well. The only negatives: This place is not in a great area and my iced tea was very sour, and bitter tasting. I was able to get a replacement drink though with no issues. read more

Carne Asada Buritto with Bean & Rice on the side. Tasty is what I describe the Carne Asada. They actually season the meat. The quality of the meat is a different story. I would say it is the same as other Mexican spots around here. The red rice is amazing the BEST I've had out here. However I'm not sure why there was a random green bean and 2 corn kernels in the rice. The refried beans were average, not rely my thing anyway. The texture of the meat sauce was a bit slime like, so I just started praying over my food :-/ Anyway, I love meat that's not all dried out and flavorful and that is what I got. Minus all the fat and brussel pieces that made is poor quality, it was the most tastiest flavorful Care Asada I've had in a very long time. Pastrami The Pastrami was cut thick and fried to perfection. As all sandwich spots they placed all of the meat in the center of a very breaded roll and cut it in half. This makes you think that you actually received a hearty sandwich but after those first couple bites you find yourself trying to salvage scraps off the plate to place between the ends of the bread. This sandwich is delicious, flavorful and moist. I say its a step above Primo. Give it a try. Just happened to be on Facebook scrolling through the AV restaurants Support Group and Sky Burgers happened to pop up recommended by a couple of people so I said why not give it a try. Look at my plate! It does not lie!!! It's as bomb as it looks!!! My husband ordered a carne asada plate and it also looked super delicious and it was!!! I love that they have a drive thru. It isn't easy getting baby's in and out of car seats so that's such a plus. The staff is friendly and they don't take very long either. It's not drive thru quality food that's for sure. It taste better than almost all sit down fancy Mexican restaurants in the AV. Even their rice and beans are good! And they give you lots of food. I was feeling hungry and didn't want to meal prep since I was keto. I decided to come here and see what they could make me to meet my diet. Once there, I asked the cashier what options they had and she called the cook out to speak to me. He offered me a bacon cheeseburger with avocado and no bun. It was delicious! After reading recommendations about their pastrami sandwich, I thought I'd give it a try. A really good pastrami is not that easy to find. So I bought one. It runs over $12 but I don't mind paying as long as I get what I'm paying for. Well I guess I'll keep looking. The sandwich was too salty, over seasoned and really didn't look that fresh. My 7 year old son just called me so upset because the cashier and the manager would not take my sons $20 bill which has a slight tear that I will post a pic of. My son and his father skateboarded to this place to have a father son date. The chard on the meat, the juiciness of the meat, well seasoned and GREAT taste and good service....,I'd recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great burger joint.....I'm forgetting to mention the fries are also well seasoned it's a good portions of food for the price....it's a steal!!! I have lived in the AV for 23 years and have only recently discovered this establishment. It is a small hole in the wall by 7-11 on Palmdale Blvd and 20th Street East. Though an older building with older tables and seats, it is clean here. I am always seeing the workers cleaning tables. The FOOD is, to me, GREAT! AND you are served a lot for your money. McDonald's hamburgers and Fries are SO tiny and they NEVER fill your kids up. You get much much more for your buck here and the food is brought to your table. The workers are very kind and the woman who works the registrar is very sweet. If you haven't tried the food here, and if you want more for your buck...give it HUST ONE SHOT. Another stop in my quest to sample all the non-chain burger spots here in the AV. This spot just opened about 6 months ago. It used to be a Jimmy's Eatery. They have all the standard toppings here- chili, cheese, bacon, avocado, western (onion rings & bbq). They also have an extensive mexican food menu which I'll have to try on a follow up visit. To me a burger stand has to earn its stripes on it's basic burger and fries. The quintessential American grub. The burger is thin but tasty.. charbroiled when you order-- no heat lamps. Would've liked it to be medium, but when they're thin, it's pretty difficult. The fries are plentiful, well seasoned and fried to a crispy golden brown. So far so good and will have to try some of the other items before i revise my rating. read more
