Early on, after one visit our dog developed an ear infection from water getting into his ear. I paid the vet bill and chose not to make a big deal out of it because things happen. We continued going and things seemed mostly fine until today. On Monday they called asking if I could move our Friday appointment to Tuesday. I agreed and brought my dog in at the time they requested, 2:00 PM. When we dropped him off, we asked when they closed and were told 5:00 PM and that he would be ready around 4:45. They normally call when he is ready. Around 4:50 I still had not received a call so I phoned to check. The woman who answered said she would check and came back saying he was ready. We arrived at 4:55. After waiting for a couple ahead of us to pay, we paid and tipped as we always do. Usually they bring him right out, but this time they did not. I walked toward the back desk thinking he would be coming out any second. That's when I heard someone yelling aggressively and cursing at my dog. I looked behind the door to confirm it was Carissa and asked, "Excuse me, are you talking to my dog that way?" She immediately denied it. Another girl was in the room and when I asked, she said "it wasn't me," meaning she wasn't the one speaking to him that way. What made this even worse was that my dog was still on the grooming table being cut, meaning he was not actually ready when they told me he was. It was already close to closing time. She immediately changed her tone and said he was doing great, then rushed him off the table covered in hair. His nails were not finished and the overall grooming job was terrible. But the unfinished groom is not even the main issue. The way my dog was being spoken to and handled is completely unacceptable. No animal should ever be yelled at or cursed at like that. If this is how pets are treated when owners are not watching, people deserve to know. I will never bring my dog back here. If you care about how your pet is treated, I strongly suggest finding another groomer.

As a doodle owner I have to get my dog groomed -- and frankly I'm not patient enough to spend more…read morethan 15 minutes brushing or washing my buddy. This shop is wonderfully patient with him, and every time I've been there, the place has at least 1 or 2 other poodles (or mixes) happily in the pen. That should speak to their service. Christian usually takes care of my buddy. He is incredibly polite and he also takes the time to hear my concerns before and after grooming. I feel like he's immensely attentive -- as he takes notes on what I liked or didn't like about the cut; he notices when I'm early, stressed, etc; and he offers help for tackling various issues (matting, dry skin, etc). He is great! My buddy leaves here with a cute bandana or bow tie, and even though my dog hates being groomed, he doesn't seem stressed when we pull up.

I've been to well over 10 different facilities to have my dogs attend day care and there are many times I'd pick them up and they were frightful or I felt they've been mistreated. This being a new facility, the atmosphere is very inviting, staff is friendly, facility is clean, and very accommodating when it comes to drop off times. (Some places only allow certain drop off and pick up times.) I also liked how they are open until 8 PM. Not only do I feel safe having my dogs dropped off here, I also appreciate the interpersonal communication with the staff. Kudos!

However, we…read moretook our dog to City bark and signed up for the 30 days of daycare because we have been so busy with work. A week or so later I saw the reviews that said the facility is very dirty and never cleaned. Nearly every time we picked up our puppy he smelled so bad we had to take him immediately to the dog wash next door. On week two our puppy had contracted pink eye. We took him to the vet and got medication which was expensive because they have to do eye staining. On week four we received an email saying a very aggressive respiratory illness was going around the facility. We were concerned and called to ask about this but the staff was very evasive with answers stating that "they aren't vets". We never took him back to the facility again after the email. Three days after he began coughing. We immediately took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with kennel cough. It has now been three weeks and he is still sick. Yesterday he was diagnosed with pneumonia. Our vet bills are now in the thousands from this. We called city bark several times to ask what to expect from other dogs who had been infected but could never get any straight answers. It's been extremely frustrating and handled unprofessionally. Our dog is only 6 months old and not neutered yet and therefore was not allowed in group play so it was contracted just from being in a kennel. I believe this must be from the facility not being properly cleaned.
