Just a quick heads up for anyone who used to go to their old Fairbanks location--they are still very much open! They moved about 3 miles away into a bigger, much nicer storefront in the North Gate Plaza. It's super easy to get to, on Edgewater Drive just north of Lee Road. Anyone who has lived around Central Florida for a while knows these guys have been around for over 50 years, so I was thrilled to see they just needed more space to expand. It has been a while since I've been to Skycraft. The last time I was here was when they were at their old location on Fairbanks Avenue. I was in a pickle with a DYI project at the house and needed male and female 5.5 X 2.1 connectors, and 40' of 18/2 wire for a 12-volt DC circuit. I happened to be working on this project the week between Christmas and New Year's. I couldn't find a local supplier or an online retailer who had these items readily available for next day pickup, and that's when I reached out to Skycraft for help. Skycraft's online site showed the inventory was available, and when I called the following morning to verify, the staff member informed me; yes, these parts were in stock. I would love to give Skycraft 5-stars; however, I cannot for this review. If you are new to Skycraft, please know that they are a "self-service surplus," which means you are essentially on your own when shopping for your items. This place is a giant warehouse with many isles and rows which are not labeled like you would find at an ACE, HD, or Lowes. Yes, staff do help as needed, but you will not get the same customer service you will find at some of the bigger supply outlets. I had no idea where these items were hidden, and I had to ask for help three times because the associate would drop me off in front of what I needed then haul ass before asking me if I needed anything else. The mix of temperaments I experienced was off-putting. The Gal on the phone was great; the woman working the register was discombobulated and didn't want to deal with me at first, but was super friendly when I was checking out; one of the male associates in the back was irate about something and got even more pissed when a call came in for him, but the cashier did not transfer the call through; and the gentleman assisting me with finding my items was in a shit mood because the last two years have been terrible. No offense my man, but the last two years have been horrible for everyone including me, but I'm not projecting my negativity on you. Regardless of my experience, I highly recommend coming here if you are an avid DYI'er. Skycraft has just about anything you need to get the job done, and at a more affordable cost when compared to the big box stores and online suppliers. read more

I have been coming to Skycraft for at least 5 years, since it was at its original location in Winter Park, and the new location still lives up to its original standards. I usually come to SkyCraft for screws and other small parts that I need, but that's not all that they have. They also have low cost perishable food, tools, and camping gear for purchase. There is a loyalty program that also rewards you points based on the dollar amount of purchases, and once you earn a certain amount you can use them towards future visits. It's located in a strip mall (different from its previous standalone location), and there is a lot more parking than before. I've always had great interactions with the employees, and that alone is one of the main reasons I keep coming back. read more

We go to this place a couple of times a month when my bf needs a random wing it or bolt or something man related lol. The cool thing about it is that there is something for everyone. You can get car parts, boat materials, energy drinks, and supplies for camping. They literally have it all. Since they've moved to this location, there is a lot more space than when they were located in Winter Park. The parking lot is huge and easy to navigate. Everything is inexpensive and clearly priced, and it's never crowded. We prefer coming here instead of big brand places like autozone or ace hardware. read more

I have only been to Skycraft Parts and Surplus once before, a number of years ago. Walking in, I was reminded of just how much stuff was actually in the store and what they had to offer. The layout of the store has changed since the last time I was there. The purchasing counter has moved to a different wall, and there don't seem to be as many oddball used parts anymore, the space taken up by plastic nick-nacks. This is not to say that the store isn't any good anymore, far from it! You are very likely to find something that you want or need in the store, though it may not be what you came to the store for originally. This store is the ultimate "end-aisle display" store for hardware people. read more

Skycraft's saved my life on so many projects I don't even know where to begin and you can get small hardware bits and electrical baubles piecemeal unlike the chains. New, used, refurbished, and repurposed stuff for just about every project you can imagine. I wouldn't be surprised if they have everything you need to build a particle accelerator or make a cold fusion reactor up in there - you'all gonna make me lose my mind!! Perfect shopping grounds for every inventor, engineer, electrician, audiophile, tradesperson, DIYer, dreamer, doer, creatives; anybody looking for ideas or bits to fix or solve a problem. What do you need? Yes they have it. I personally enjoy going here just to look around. 90% of the time I don't need anything, I just find it so interesting to see all of the random stuff they have. Any size screw? Check. Need wire of chains? Check. How about a metal detector, diamond plate metal? Used life jacket from the Bahamas? Check check check check. I would say that this store is most beneficial for people working on projects and in need of parts for work. From piping to electrical, I'm sure they have whatever you need It's interesting looking around. It gave me ideas for some small projects I might begin as a hobby. But also it's quite fascinating to see the artifacts hanging from the ceiling. Anti-tank missiles, and RC boats. It really is interesting. read more

This place is stocked in every nook and cranny with every part, wire, tool, knob, or other thing, ever conceived. So why did nerds like us who are not handy in the least hit a place like this? Well, for cosplay of course! Want to build your own Iron Man 1 arm piece? What better place to find adult tinker toys than this one?? Staff is really helpful at thinking both inside and outside of the box, so don't be wary on asking for help, no matter what the project is. It has a warehouse look and feel. All I can say is that I walked in and my brain started short circuiting (no pun intended). There is so much in this shop that I can't even begin to explain. Electronic boards to plastic whatnots, there is just about anything you need to fix just about anything. Unfortunately we were 5 minutes short of closing time so I couldn't really explore as deeply as I would have liked, but I got what I needed and was actually kind of glad because I would have spent SO MUCH more picking up things for projects that started forming in my brain the second I walked in. I just used my glitter extension cord for the gazillionth time and thought, 'dang, I miss Skycraft.' Every time I'm in Orlando I stop here. It was a fun trip when i lived nearby, especially for visitors. I got a parachute pull tag, test tubes, and other fun things. If you like crafts or electronics projects, this place is a dream come true. Check out the NASA stuff on the ceiling, and the 'fake chicken fur' (as opposed to REAL chicken FUR?) next to sheets of teflon. So much fun. A must-see if you are in Orlando. This surplus store may have everything you'd need for a DIY project, or hard to find bits that no one else will have in stock, but the cashiers are the rudest, mean spirited women I have come across in years. They act like you are putting them out buy them having to ring you up. God forbid you forget to write the price per item on the little bag, you'd think you'd spit on their shoes. If it weren't for that one item that you'd never find anywhere else that they've got a bin full of, I'd never set foot back in this building. Dunno why it's taken me so long to write a review of this place. Wow, I love it. Let's start with the negatives, because we'll get those out of the way since they're not that big of a deal: * If you don't like tinkering with stuff, fixing things yourself (especially those of an electronic or mechanical nature), or getting your hands dirty, this is NOT the store for you. *If you like everything in stores to be CLEARLY labeled, and easy to find, this is NOT the store for you. *If you think people who know how to use a soldering iron are wizards, this is NOT the store for you. OK, phew, that was rough! Now on to the good stuff. Skycraft is a haven for people who DO like tinkering, messing about with things, fixing them etc. It doesn't matter whether you need a capacitor for a 1972 stand mixer or a 100' CAT5 network cable or light sensor for your back porch or a diode for your receiver or a 72" tall rack mount unit for a network closet.... they've probably got it. And those people standing at the counter who look like Denny's waitresses? They know where it ALL is, just ask them. As an added bonus, once you find that item you're probably going to pay a LOT less for it than if you went to a big box. Skycraft is made of goodness. You will get LOST in this place just walking around thinking of all the things you could do. It's almost dangerous. And I love it. read more

You can get stuff at Skycraft that I'm pretty sure you can't get anywhere else in Orlando. The problem is that you may not be able to get what you're actually looking for or need. You can spend hours in here just wandering around looking at the huge variety of items. Most of the items are labeled, but usually without much detail. The staff is very knowledgeable though and can help guide you to the correct items - assuming they have them to begin with. Prices are a mixed bag. Lots of items are priced far lower than you can find elsewhere. Other items are far above what you'd pay in other retail stores. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason behind it though. Since this is a surplus store, most items are in fare less than "perfect" condition. Pins on electronics may be bent, but they're never missing. You may have to spend some time digging through the bin to find the perfect-ish one. read more

Yeah SkyCraft! This place is the GO TO for all electronic and other misc. "guy stuff". Need a new knob for that radio or handle for the tool box or heat shrink tubing, screws, rivets unusual fasteners, OMG wire of all types, adhesives, odd and normal lighting fixtures, emptied out bomb shells even. I'll bet for the right price- you could even take the flying saucer off there roof!? Man, they have an extensive collection of freaky gauges and meters , junction boxes and tapes of all types just for that Frankenstine project you have been tempted with too! Skycraft is truly THE tourist destination for the Bored Dad Syndrome. Take the diversion from your family day and claim a piece of "geek-dad" time for yourself. If you have a wheel missing from your rolling thingy, a circuit board missing from that contraption, need a something or another that fell off the back of a truck, or just like shopping around bombs and missiles, then Skycraft is the place for you. In case you don't know SkyCraft is a place to find anything and everything electrical, data, random hardware, and so forth in a bargain bin style atmosphere. It fills the gaps that Home Depot and Lowe's can't/won't fill. New and used items. Parts salvaged. I see anyone from hobbyists, to technicians (wearing uniforms from major companies), to father and son's in there. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Don't be afraid to ask questions. As for bombs and missiles, not sure what the story behind it is, but the decor is of such memorabilia. Basically if nothing else you can go in there and think of ideas for your next great creation. Skycraft is a wondrous place that is a little difficult to explain. Imagine Radio Shack on crack and that's about what you can expect here. I first found Skycraft when I was looking for some CL2 rated speaker wire. Radio Shack didn't have it (of course) and someone recommended Skycraft to me. This place is a giant win if you like anything electronic. The building is huge and every shelf is literally stacked with everything from old computer parts to ham radio stuff. In fact I'm pretty sure they hid Jimmy Hoffa's body somewhere in this store. You can dig through boxes of wire, cables and strange connectors for days. Last time I was in there I found a tachometer for a snowmobile--really (?), yup! The sad thing is many electronic stores like Radio Shack are slowly turning into big cell phone stores as they gear they're inventory for the masses. Meanwhile if you need something as simple as a radio antenna or a 100 foot spool a Cat. 5 cable, the corporate stores will usually tell you to go to their website, which is all well and good but if I'm physically in the store that usually means I don't want to go to a website. I don't live particularly close to Skycraft but it's right off I-4 on Fairbanks so it's not too difficult to get to. I'm not a regular who's there every day or even every month but when I need something in particular I'm always grateful that this place is there. read more

If and when I get around to building my robot army, THIS is where I will go for parts.I can't go here without spending a minimum of an hour just diggin around and marveling at all the stuff they have stashed away. My first real reason to try Skycraft was hunting tubes for an old guitar head that I used to mess with but I soon realised they had things that I didn't know I NEEDED. If you can't find it at Home Depot, chances are they have a bucket full at Skycraft. A previous review mentioned the grumpy ladies at the registers and how mean spirited they were. Well, for me...that is a plus and I actually prefer it to the sickly sweet ass kissing that is often misconstrued for customer service in the world today. read more

Had to give them 5 stars, been going to skycraft for years and years. They are the original green company in a good way. I know of no other establishment that is like them. Think of them as a used car parts bin for everything but used car parts. If you like to tinker, or need an odd part they probably have it. They carry new and used parts in just about any field of engineering. Electrical, mechanical, industrial they have it. They pull pieces from old equipment, like if there's a switch on an old piece of electronics they remove it and sell it, fuses, gears, tubing, wiring, IC's, transformers, power supplys, army surplus. They have it all, some items are also brand new, something that they picked up in surplus. You want to build a robot they have the parts, you need a new adapter for your electronic device they have it. You need a gas mask they have it. The floor people know their stuff, if they don't they will find someone that does. I don't know if you had ever tried to buy a stainless steel screw, or something that wasn't made of aluminum at Home Depot but it can be a pain. They have a good selection of hardware made of stainless and other stronger metals. They carry sheets of metal and plastic. Which reminds me I need stop by and get some. They still write their tickets up on a piece of paper, the counter help are mostly older ladies that are usually very nice. If you have time you should stop by and give them a look. I have loved this place every since I first stepped in the door. I love to browse once I get the items I go for. This is my "GO -TO" place for project parts . OMG relays, transformers, switches, pilot lights, best selection of hardware ( brass, stainless, nylon, steel), small buss bars for connecting wires, wire connectors, rectifiers, resistors, capacitors (ALL sizes) , fuses, circuit breakers, Valcro (by the foot) , heat shrink ( more sizes than I thought possible). This does not even scratch the suface. But it should give you a small picture of the enormous amount of things they stock. It is not a big place, but I can spend 2 hours easily finding new things I did not know they have. I almost forgot to mention the selection of wire, and coax, to many varieties to mention. This place is pretty great, but I have mixed-emotions, for a couple of reasons. It's not that the place is bad, by any means, but one cam easily become overwhelmed. At least I can, but I'm a little special in that department. They've been a lifesaver by having some parts that I couldn't find elsewhere, like piggyback spade connectors or coax to RCA converters. A lot of the stuff is priced well, but a lot of it is just overpriced junk. You've gotta watch yourself, because if you're not careful, you could leave with a bunch of useless crap. And I'm pretty sure the return policy is that there is no return policy. You bought it - now it's your crap! The ladies at the register are always nice, but I can't ever seem to get a word in with the people on the floor. They seem to avoid me like the plague, but whenever I can catch them, they're short - in a bad way. Their personal skills tend to suck balls. However, the guy back at the wire cutting desk is a cool guy, and if he has a second, you can always get info from him. Also, don't show up anywhere near closing time. I got caught in traffic one time, and even though I had a list of exactly what I needed and got there five minutes before close, they wouldn't let me in. They didn't care that I'd driven about 30 miles to get there either. Needless to say, that pissed me off pretty badly. If I can get something at my local Radio Shack, I'd prefer to get it there, as the customer service is just better. But when I need something more specific, sometimes I just need to make a trip. Generally, you can save money by ordering online from a place like Jameco.com or a number of others, but you have to be ordering enough to offset the cost of shipping. Anyway, it's a very mixed bag. They don't guarantee anything - not even that they'll have a male connector to go with the female connector that you found. However, they have been nice enough to let me swap out some molex pins when I bought the wrong size (same price, even swap) and held some heat shrink tubing for me there when I forgot it. I'd like to give them 4-5 stars, but there are just too many deficiencies. However, it's a place every geek must visit sometime - so don't let my review scare you away. If you need something specific, go there, they may have it or they may not (they don't have a lot of what I need, but a good amount). And they may charge a decent price, or they may be ridiculously overpriced (very erratic pricing). So, just come in equipped, well before closing, and try not to have too many questions - they might not get answered and that could piss you off, as it has me sometimes. read more

There are some good deals here sometimes on strange surplus stuff... although the everyday common stuff is kind of on the expensive side (go figure) I like coming here when I am in the Orlando area and just looking around for strange things, not generally specific things so for that I think its great, otherwise if you need something specific you might be better off with one of the big electronics distributors read more
