Skycrest is absolutely gorgeous! I was impressed with how spacious and open their homes feel when i went to tour! The team was super helpful, and they made me feel like i found the perfect home as soon as i walked in! The grounds are kept up beautifully and i love that all the homes come with a garage. Only been here for two months and our dishwasher has broke 4 times. and the washer and dryer have broken twice. Seems to me that they don't check to make sure anything is running correctly. Also seems to me that the maintenance guy has no idea what he is doing, as he keeps "fixing" it the same way. Almost everything has broke down on us, including now our air and our back door. Its frustrating to have to deal with all this only being here for two months. It would also be nice if the maintenance guy would come in a timely manner, not whenever works for him, We had a work order in for the past two days and still haven't heard anything from anyone. read more

We have moved around a lot (always looking for cheaper rent with every renewal) and Skycrest was the first place we stayed and renewed a lease on. Not only is it a nice, quiet place to raise a family, but the staff always makes a point of going above and beyond to be helpful and courteous. Had we not needed a bigger place (we were in the bigger unit they had available) we would still be there now! And even though we have moved out, I have still been able to call and they have been more than willing to help with some loose ends. I am not one to typically leave reviews, however, I want to save others from experiencing the same misfortunes. Our experience with Skycrest Apartments and Equity Residential has been unbelievably horrible. When we began the process of leasing an apartment in July 2021, we were given and agreed upon a rent amount. The following day, we received a lease with rent that was hundreds of dollars above the amount we had discussed the previous day. We were told that the rent had never been and never would be the amount we had previously known. Foolishly, we believed there must have been an error or miscommunication somewhere down the line, agreed to the new rent amount, and continued with the process. We signed a lease in JULY 2021 to move in to a unit in SEPTEMBER 2021. Just 2 weeks before our scheduled move-in, we received a call that our apartment would no longer be available on the previously given date, citing tenants that "refused" to move out. Skycrest reassured us that we would either be able to move in the following month or they would put us in a different unit for the same price. The next day, we were told that the current tenants were not moving out AT ALL, nor were they were able to transfer us to another unit. Skycrest gave us no alternative options, cancelling our lease and leaving us without a place to live less than two weeks before our move-in date. Throughout the duration of this process, Skycrest would provide us with no written documentation of the events that transpired. Skycrest is unreliable, unprofessional, and has turned our living situation, thus our lives, upside down. Please do not trust Skycrest or any of its sister locations with something as vital as a roof over your head. read more

Lived here for about six years. The maintenance staff is wonderful and professional but truly this is only a good place to live if your family shares one vehicle (who's does anymore?). Parking is EXTREMELY limited as the original plan for the complex did not account for the residents that can live here I suppose. Myself and other residents regularly have to park at the nearby grocery store and make the uphill walk if you get home any time after 7pm (5pm on Sundays). If you don't mind carrying your purse, school bags, and children home on an uphill walk at night then this is the place for you. I'm not one to complain, but it is getting a little ridiculous that such a significant inconvenience goes completely past the corporate offices. The parking situation is so bad that I felt the need to tell another couple that they need not live here (seeing as they leave their home and will need to park their cars). read more

From day one when we started to look at Skycrest as an option Daniel from the front office was there to help. He showed us around answered all questions and we were sold. Parking here is a nightmare. I can't understand why they give parking permits if there is absolutely no place to park. plenty of carports open been on the waiting list for ancarport since we moved in 3 years ago and same issue. NO PARKING. think twice unless you like circling for 30 min with $5 a gallon on gas. read more

I would have loved to give them 5 starts, but i just cant because of the following reasons: When you move in they sell you in many things that they dont actually provide- 1) being gated community and you paying for a gated community, but yet the gate sits open all day long and it closes at night. 2) they sell you into a business center where you can print and check your online stuff, but the business never worked (including printer and fax) and now they dont even provide one anymore. :( 3) the spa was broken for the longest time and no one cared to fix it. It got fixed after couple of months. I like Jessica and Kurt, but the manager is a little snooty. They need to bring up their game! read more

Been here 5 years. The corporate policies SUCK. They raise your rent at least $100 every year, without fail, no matter what. Even when other apartments with the same floor model and floor level are available for much less in other areas of the complex they bump you. They recently changed the standard 5-day late payment penalty to a non standard 2-day late. The corporate office is starting to remind me of a bank, tightening up with more fees and pitfalls. The first year I was here, my 2bd 1st floor unit was $1580. I renewed at a higher rent for year 2. Year 3 they raised it to almost $1800 so I moved to a cheaper $1590 3rd floor unit (same floorplan) to escape the high rent. Of course they raised the rent again the following year and now its time to renew again at $1950. Just ridiculous. Thats a $360 increase in my current unit after only 2 years. And THAT is what it's really like to live at Skycrest. read more

Save your self the headache , apartment issues from AC/heating, roaches, plumbing, water etc. NO Parking there is never parking available, tenants parking on emergency red zone and blocking garages. Be careful when you decide to move out of skycrest. We were told that our lease wasn't up until Sunday, July 3rd. The office staff confirmed and even emails sent to us by skycrest told that our lease expired on July 3rd. This, to us, means that our June rent is good until then, and that we don't have to be out until July 3rd. We ended up moving to our new house anyway on July 1st. I ended getting a bill for 279 dollars, a pro rated rent that apparently covered from July 1st to the 3rd. When I spoke to the manager about this, to explain that we were told that our lease expired July 3rd, she advised me that the lease does expire on the 3rd but that's only because the lease has to end on a sunday...so I'm responsible from the 1st to the 3rd, because the 1st was on a friday. That's news to me! My family and I have been moved out since the 1st and now I have to pay 3 days worth of rent for an empty apartment, just because it has to fall on a sunday. Wow. Wish they could have told us that instead of telling us that our lease expired on the 3rd. Plus they could have told us that when we paid our June rent. So if you decide to move out and the 1st falls on a Monday, apparently you will be responsible for 6 more days of rent until the following Sunday. Oh, of course, it's in the fine print of the contract which they don't mention or care to tell you about. And that's after I paid almost 2300 a month for a 1 bedroom box for a family of 4 since it was short term..by the way, there is a serious spider problem there and our washer didn't work half the time.. but the maintenance guys are very nice. read more

I'm surprised to see the number of recent critical reviews of this community. I've been living here nearly a year and have been very comfortable and I just renewed my lease for another year. The leasing agents have been very helpful whenever I've had inquiries or issues, and the Maintenance staff have always been quick to respond to requests. I noticed someone on here complaining that you can't use garages for storage. This is not true. You absolutely may but Skycrest requires that you leave room enough to also park your car. If you need THAT much storage for your stuff, move into a house! The reason for this restriction? There is not enough parking available in the parking lot to accommodate residents with two cars or visitors. To me, this is absolutely reasonable and I appreciate their diligence. The 'inspections' are simply to make sure that space is available, not to invade your privacy or dig into your belongings. If you are looking for a safe, mostly quiet complex, with good amenities and clean, well-maintained units you'll be happy here. The reason I'm only giving 4 stars, though, is due to the corporate policies and not due to any dissatisfaction in the complex or management. I absolutely agree with the frustrations that others have voiced - the annual increases are not conducive to keeping people here but are clearly in place so that Equity can increase turnover in order to meet their revenue goals. And the mandatory charges for cleaning and painting upon move-out (which I experienced when I left another Equity property) are ridiculous. I've never had another management company charge me for normal wear-and-tear. So be prepared to pay approximately $300 when you move out. Oh! And be forewarned, the water here is VERY hard, so I have had issues with getting clean dishes out of the dishwasher and my hair requires extra conditioning, haha. But otherwise, no complaints, and I'm not sure if there is anything the management can do about that, anyway... read more

Well I lived here about a yr so far & I love it. Ppl here leave there garage open & it seems that they trust their neighbors. I've personally been helped by Kurt on several times for things & he's just so nice & down to earth. I can't ask for better service. Just recently the plumbing got bad at night of all times & they came first thing n the morning to fix it. They sent a cleaning lady n all. We love valencia n general. Better for raising a family but whr u live is so important & Kurt & the other staff I've delt with do make u feel important & most of all there attentive to things u need. I was simple hate this apts, There is no place or parks for kids and strictly prohibited for scooters,bikes etc.... I hate that crazy intersection.... Parking for guests also very less, Rent is very expensive for old apts. And no internet in ZYM. Att signals were too bad I was missed all of the imp calls though. read more

I've been living here for a couple months and it has been great! Before we moved in they redid the whole apartment for us and there was no problems with the move in. The staff here are all very kind and they are always on time with service requests. Also the front area looks very nice with all the flowers and they are constantly keeping up with the gardening to make it look nice. In addition to the beautiful scenery they are always keeping up with the apartments and making sure we always are up to date with our lights and WiFi. We had seen a lot of different communities that day and had spoke to a lot of different sales people before arriving at Skycrest. We were very impressed with the staff and how personable they were. Samantha was especially helpful and kind. She was also a mom of young ones so she was attentive to the needs of a new family. Community was very nice. Great amenities and grounds. I'll start with the bottom line, Skycrest is a fantastic place to live, the problem is the corporate policies. I have lived in Skycrest for four of the past five years and have lived in four different apartments. I have done this of my own accord moving for my own reasons rather than any complaints with the apartments. The staff, physically at Skycrest, are wonderful and attentive to all our needs. As an example, my water heater went out on a Sunday evening on a three-day weekend. As such I called the office and had to leave a message. I figured I was going to have cold showers until Tuesday. In less than an hour after I left the message I had a new water heater installed. I was impressed. My complaint is with the corporate pet policy and rent setting. When a renter moves in with a pet they pay a deposit for the pet. Corporate policy is now to pay an additional $55 a month for just having the pet. Coincidentally, it went from $35 to $55 when the policy was changed to allow renters to have large dogs. $660 a year just to have a pet when you have already paid to cover any damages your pet incurs. The rent is set by people looking at the numbers at some corporate headquarters figuring what they think they will be getting in the anticipated month. It doesn't matter that they have 8-9 of the same model available in the current month at a rate of $50 less than what they intend to receive. I just renewed my lease for $110 more a month than it was the past year. As I said, I have moved my family a lot in the past years and need to give them a break. Additionally, there used to be spikes, for lack of a better word, welded on the entrance gate to discourage people without remotes from pressing the gate with their cars to gain entrance. Management decided they were unattractive, they weren't, and had them removed. As a consequence, the gate is broken and left open more often than it used to be. I give the complex itself and the staff working it 5 stars. However, at the end of the day it is the money in my pocket that matters most, and the corporate policies want more than I like giving. If they want to earn five stars i would suggest stopping the practice of over estimating the future rental rates and eliminating the pet tax. That would make me happy again. read more

They have the worst parking situation out of any apartment complexes in the area. Multiple people parking in red zones or in front of garages just because there aren't enough parking spaces. They love to randomly tow vehicles even though they don't provide enough parking spaces. They raise the rent by at least $100 each renewal period. It's an unsafe intersection with no traffic light, so each time you leave Skycrest it's a gamble. Unfriendly staff that's only nice when trying to rent to you so they can make commission. And worst of all, they don't enforce their no smoking policy. Its more of a suggestion. Their rent-a-cop security guards are incredibly arrogant and rude to residents. read more

She simply ignored it and when I asked why it hadn't been addressed she simply said its against policy. I wish she would have told me and not just ignored it. Also they raised my rent almost $200.
