Stand up landing on the beach

Finally got to go back. Edgar was an awesome man to guide us on our experience. He is right there is no accurate way to explain how much fun it is. Great staff and support from the pilot to the ground crew. The ice cold water afterwards was well needed! The views if the gulf are reason alone to skydive here.

They are the absolute best!! They make sure to explain everything to you. This was my first time skydiving I felt safe and comfortable the whole time. Memo was great at keeping me laughing along with everyone else . It was the best experience! I will be back for future jumps!

My husband and I had an amazing time skydiving with Simon and Lee! This was our very first time jumping out of an airplane, so we had absolutely no idea what to do or expect. They explained everything to us and made us feel 100% comfortable before and during our jump. I was fully expecting to go into panic mode, but having them so confident in their job was comforting....especially since we were about to jump out of a freaking plane! It was my husbands birthday and they even sang Happy Birthday to him in the plane on the way up. My favorite part was leaving the plane and the freefall. It was SUCH a rush! They also shot some great video footage and pics during the entire process. Would we do it again?? Hell yes!!! Cant wait to visit again!

It was my first time sky diving and the team made me feel at ease. Jake was great and made the whole jump a fun, exciting experience. They jump with a limited number of jumpers and jumps so you don't feel rushed during the process. The location is amazing. Getting to jump over the Gulf and land on the beach has to be a very unique sky diving experience and was awesome. I can not say enough about Sky Dive Galveston. Thank you for an amazing jump!

This experience wouldn't have been as surreal if it wasn't for the entire team there. They literally made it even more memorable than I could have ever imagined. I will continue to come back endless times! They literally made me feel like we were family! You're literally missing out if you're still here reading reviews, thinking about going! You won't regret it! Tammy, y'all rock!

Omar, Bob, and Phil were great instructors. Bob instructed our group of 8 and its was informative…read moreand very entertaining as well. You will have to fill out a super long waiver that will release the company from liability if you are injured or die, but that's standard for jumping out of a plane above 10,000ft. The plane is quite small so jumps will be done in pairs of 2 (2participants + 2instructors) and every trip is about 30 minutes (15-20 minutes climbing to the desired altitude to drop, ~1 minutes of free-falling, and ~10 minutes of floating back down to land). During the whole process from flying in the plane, during the dive, and after completion, the instructors ask how you're doing and help calm you down. The scariest part about the experience will probably be looking at the ground as you are flying up into the sky but once you reach 10,000ft altitude, you won't be able to see the ground anymore so the natural heart dropping response you get when you look down at the floor from a cliff or 3+ stories high disappears or at least greatly diminishes. The initial free-fall for me was scary but since you only feel ~1G of force at most, it doesn't feel as scary as a drop from a really high roller coaster (I definitely think roller coasters are more scary, esp. those that only keep you in with a bat that goes over your thighs). After the parachute deploys, it really tugs on your harness so be sure to arrange and secure your crotch well or it will hurt like no other. My crotch harness was very tight so the initial deployment didn't hurt, but the floating wasn't as pleasant since I was basically suspended with all the pressure at my crotch. Bob will help you situate your crotch straps to your thighs so it feels more like you are sitting on the harness after the parachute has safely deployed and it'll feel SOOOO much better. Also, Omar helped me take off my goggles and held onto my glasses so I could get the full view without the goggles blurring it which was great. The best part for me was after the parachute deploys and the instructor (Omar, Bob, or Phil for us) does spins in the air. Omar and I only did about 4 spins, but take my advice and ask them to spin as much as they want because you only get to be in the air for so long so make the most of it. P.S. Don't worry about screaming because the air will muffle it and you won't even know you're screaming. Also, NEVER CLOSE YOUR EYES or it'll be a waste :)

It was the first jump ever for my fiance (whom I proposed to after landing) and I, and these guys really made it a special moment for us! Very accommodating when it comes to special occasions like proposals, with before-after and in air interviews all filmed with great quality. I flew with Omar, super friendly and really made this first experience a memorable one! I plan to fly with these guys again, definitely a great group to fly with.

Time to check another item off of the old bucket list. Flying an airplane is something I have…read morewanted to do since I was a kid. Whenever I looked at getting a pilot license before, I took a look at how much I would have to spend and decided that maybe $30 on a flight simulator game would scratch that itch for me. There's still nothing like the real thing though. So I took advantage of a LivingSocial deal that was too good to pass up - $59 for a discovery flight. Heck yeah, I'm in. Scheduling my flight was a breeze. I called on a Tuesday to see what times they had available and was given the option for a 9 am or 11 am flight Thursday. I jumped at the 9 am slot so that I could start my day off braving the skies in the morning like Charles Lindbergh before going into work. Day of the flight. Unlike skydiving where you have to spend an hour signing page after page saying short of someone deliberately killing you, you cannot sue them, The Flight School just required a few minutes for me to fill out half a page of contact info and I was off with my instructor Luke for a pre-flight inspection of the plane. Luke went through the checklist with me, with him inspecting everything outside and inside the plane, but letting me know what he was checking. Once the inspection was done, it was time to rock and roll. Luke got the engine started, got us rolling, and then allowed me to steer a bit with the foot rudders while taxiing down the runway. Luke then took over and got us off the ground. Whoosh! Once we hit 8000 feet and were stable, Luke turned it over to me. Uh, are you sure about that? I ended up with a good 15 minutes of actually flying the plane myself without really messing up. I mean, I wasn't doing Top Gun or Red Baron moves. A steady hand and taking things nice and easy are preferred over jerking in the direction you want to go in. When my fun was over, Luke took over landing the plane and it was smooth and textbook. He even offered to take a couple of photos of me in front of the plane! With my flight being the short one that The Flight School offers, I was done about an hour after arriving. So I drove to my office, strolled in, and started asking coworkers "So what did you do this morning?" Yes, obnoxious, but effective when you get that reluctant return quetion "Why, what did you do this morning?"

Tom Costa was great, he helped to guide me and give me the information to get started. Patient and…read moreis very open and is willing to go above and beyond. I look forward to starting my journey!
