It seems every time I come back there's something new or something changed here, like the new name changed from Capital Airsoft, or newer rentals, better gear, improving/changing layout of the 'map' (area you shoot in), different game plays.... I definitely like this place more now than my first visit here, as they try to keep things fresh by changing up the layout every so often, moving around objects and items that aren't permanently bolted to the floor or ceiling (doors, crates, windows, barrels, other hiding places, etc). The viewing area is also a huge improvement compared to before, sporting a couple new windows that peek into the semi-dark-lit gaming area, watching players getting picked off by opposing forces. Or, it's also a nice space to clear the tables and whip out some board games haha! The staff are also pretty good at suiting up us newbies, or having more intense intellectual conversations with the more seasoned players on upgrades, problems, solutions, and other cool stuff. Fun fact: The building also has another space on the main floor (Airsoft being upstairs), where wicked fencing-sword training and Krav Maga are happening! Helpful and thy really watch after their customers New and old. I find all of them complimenting people and helping to offer tips. Our friend joined us one time and his bow needed to be cleaned and greased and they were so quick to not only help him out but give their expert advice on the condition of his bow. This is definitely more of a compound bow place, they rent Genesis bows and compound bows. We are traditional recurve people and don't get me wrong receives are welcome they just aren't in the majority here. Come on a Tuesday with a friend! Great incentive if you have your own gear and come on a Tuesday it's only $20 for the two of you. Other targets are welcome- like balloons and we have brought the occasional stuffed toy and other targets just to add that little fun, but they do supply you with a standard target. Range is 20 yards and they have these super cool wooden wall pieces that they can move around to help create a closer target for beginners. They even used them one time to create two separate groups. There was a large group that rented out half the space and Jim Bows was really conscientious for their regulars/people paying that they created this separate section for the group which allowed the regulars to shoot at their pace and not have to be held up by the groups pace. Can you buy stuff here? Absolutely! They have a great selection of bows, gears, hunting stuff. And the service area is right smack in the centre so as you shoot you can have your gear worked on a check in on the progress. We highly recommend this place for both beginners and those who are fond of the fun sport of archery.

Some of the regulars gave us pointers... thank goodness as I wasn't having a lot of luck. Ok, luck is subjective! I hit other peoples' targets 1 and 2 lanes over. Yes, I'm shaking my head too. With an hour or so of practice, I got better. Hit the paper target too-my OWN! I took the advice in Carley's post for first-timers about wearing a long-sleeved shirt. Good advice. No injuries were sustained, but I was a bit stiff the next day. Definitely, posture made a difference in my shot, and figuring out how to not get your bust caught in the bow. :-D Robin Hood I am not, but for my first time, pretty successful. I understand there are bows for kids available to rent, and the youngest they've had was 4. FOUR! So any age, any ability. It's a great sport to try - you might just love it as much as we did. Looking forward to coming for another visit. Closed on Wednesdays, but check for hours. Weekdays are better for fewer people and quick turns.

Justin, the owner, was hilarious and easy to talk to. He gave great advise for a newbie like me and was patient as I came back a few times for additional help/tips. The prices are totally affordable for trying out Archery (as in under $20!) and I love that you can come back the same day for one price. Justin did warn that the weekends are jam packed and recommended that weekdays might be easier for newbies. Justin has a pretty impressive store set up with tons of stuff to look through whether looking for hunting supplies or fun. I couldn't help but take a picture of the 100% doe and buck pee in a can to text my 7 year old at home who was rolling on the floor laughing. But on a serious note, if archery is your thing, Sir Justin can hook you up! P.S. Schools come here for archery and kids as young as 4 can come here as he has smaller bows for them! I CANNOT wait to come back!
