Do not trust this company! They cancelled our sons Baseball Tots session three business days before it was suppose to start. Their excuse is that not enough people signed up. They should have still held the lessons regardless of number of attendees. This is extremely frustrating since we are both working parents with two toddlers and very busy and took lots of time to find these lessons. This company fails to understand that people need to sign up for classes ahead of time so this screwed us over since we could have signed our son up for swimming lessons instead but now it's too late. Thanks a lot for leaving us hanging and for the terrible treatment. We will NOT be trusting this company ever again. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would! The track and field program was definitely not what I expected! I expected my daughter to learn the fundamentals on the track, at least. However, whenever I figured out that they would pretty much be just running around a field. I sought out to get a refund and called the coordinator over 10 times trying to get a refund after the first "track meet". I never got a return of a call after leaving several voicemails, or even an email back from the three emails I sent. I wish that I would have known it would have been like this and I wouldn't have joined the program and lost out on $166. I enrolled my daughter and her cousin in the program so I lost out on money that I could have put towards a real track program. It just sucks. read more

Literally three days before my daughter's cheer camp was supposed to begin, we got an email saying it's canceled with absolutely no explanation. This is so incredibly frustrating, as my daughter and her friends were looking forward to this camp for months, and as a working parent, I had to plan out my daughter's summer camps and factored this all in with work. Thanks for leaving us hanging like this, where it's too late to find anything in the middle of summer - totally unacceptable! Yet another wonderful way to channel off kids' natural "hyperactivity!" My seven-year-old Wild Child is currently attending the Skyhawks half-day baseball camp for 6-8 year-old kids. It's a program that Alameda Parks and Recreation Department coordinates with its Summer Program Aftercare at the park's local camp. This is the third Skyhawks camp he's attended. Last year he attended two "Minihawk" camps for 4-6 year olds which combine basketball, soccer, and baseball which is obviously suitable for the younger short attention spans. My now teen MySpace cadet also took the soccer and flag football Skyhawks Sports camps when he was younger in Piedmont. My then neighbor in Oakland's teen son, who was a Cal. Sports Camp counselor through UCB told me that the Skyhawks coaches actually trained his group and spoke very highly of them. The Skyhawks coaches do have to creatively problem-solve quite a bit. For example, when my MySpace cadet was in the flag football sports camp, he and one other boy were at least a foot taller then the rest of the same age group. MySpace cadet was slim, however, and the other guy was a big, well, let's just say like "Baby Huey." On the first day playing flag football, Baby Huey promptly fell-tackled (yes, even though it was "flag football") on the smallest camper putting that camper out of commission for the rest of the week. The coach creatively solved the "Baby Huey" issue by having my MySpace cadet "block" Baby Huey from falling on any other campers for the rest of the week! Workin' the offense and defense very well. It worked! All of these camps, in my experience, have excellent coaches who place emphasis on fun, safety and sportsmanship. Could you ask for much more from a summer camp? Signed my 9 year old twins up for tennis camp in Seattle. There are a few tennis courts around green lake and they did not give an address so most parents were late and no signs indicating they were close as there was a long walk to the courts from the nearest parking lot. Then, the coaches did not have thermometers (and with covid 19 it said they would be checking) and then they asked kids "do you have symptoms of covid 19?" as if little kids even know all the symptoms. To top it off they didn't even have the tennis courts reserved (no permit by parks department) so I left my kids to try to learn tennis in a parking lot (that the coaches were lucky was empty due to construction around the area). Why did they not have a permit for the tennis courts for camp and if they did not why not cancel? Although in the past I've had Skyhawks cancel a camp 4 days before the start which is a totally shitty thing to do to working parents. A different small one man run local camp emailed exact address, parking recommendations, had thermometer and actually symptoms check list, and had the permit required to have his camp at the park. A few years ago when they canceled that camp because of low enrollment - if I had known I had 6 friends that could have signed up. The lack of common sense of emailing parents vital info, or asking them to recruit friends when low enrollment leaves me thinking this organization is NOT organized!! read more

Skyhawks is a fantastic organization. This was our daughter's first summer camp experience with Skyhawks in Liberty Lake. She had so much fun! She tried new sports and was able to continue with other sports she knew. She had a busy summer with Skyhawks. The coaches are very young, but energetic and professional. There was one week when the air quality was particularly bad due to forest fires and they moved the outdoor camp inside to HUB. Then they put it back outside the next day, but the air quality was still pretty bad. I voiced concern and they moved the camp back inside for the remainder of the week. I greatly appreciated that step. I would recommend Skyhawks to any local family. I am hopeful that Skyhawks offers more camps next year that go from 9:00am-3:00pm. The camps they have that go from (;00am-12:00pm are not long enough, according to our daughter! She greatly enjoyed the fun games and "crafts" aspect of the longer camps. read more

I wasn't going to do a review, until I saw the "Cheerleading Issue" on 7News last night. Feel I need to express a concern. I enrolled our 2 grand-daughters in the Cheerleading camp in Castle Rock, CO The younger one didn't do the "add on Swim", so I was there every day to pick her up and bring the older one her lunch. I was the only parent there because the rest of the kids were also enrolled in swimming, which went until 2 pm. On two different occasions, when I got there, the leaders of yelling at the kids. "can't you count to 3, and your going to stay here until you get it right. Now, mind you, these were 5-8 year old children, not "high school" girls. My grand-daughter also said they were told to "keep their mouths shut" in the locker room. I feel this is a little excessive for this age group. Maybe I'm wrong, don't know. read more

My son attended his the skyhawk program football/baseball/dodgeball. He was pretty disappointed because he realized he was the oldest kid in the whole group and all the others were quite a bit younger than him and he said they kept whinning and not doing what the coaches wanted. He also said it was way too hot to be running around outside in 100+ degree weather. We tell our kids to finish what they start but due to all this, he did not return to finish out the rest of the week. He was looking forward to it a lot and to see the disappointment he had was hard to see. Wish there was a different way to keep like age kids together, and when it is over 100 they should have been inside somewhere. read more

This was our 3rd year with Skyhawks and we love them. We did 4 weeks this year and on the last week, at tennis camp, my daughter fell while running and injured her self pretty badly. The staff was amazing and called me right away. Luckily my husband was near by and could pick her up. the coach called me later in the day to check up on her and even the next day. They are without a doubt, some of the best coaches. They really know how to engage the kids and especially with teh programs that run till 3PM, my daughter was tired but she beamed about the friends she made and the time she had. This was my 3 year old son's first experience with any sort of organized sport and he enjoyed it (for the most part). It took him a few days to get used to the games and "drills," but overall he had a good time. The coach seemed to understand that she was indeed working with younger children and therefore had more age appropriate games. I was a bit disappointed by the naming of some of the games (for example, "kick the coach" for soccer ball kicking drills) as it implied that kicking an actual person is okay (small children are VERY literal). My son received a nice Skyhawks t-shirt for his participation in the program - once he's old enough, I believe that we will try the T-Ball program that Skyhawks has available too. My son loved the soccer program with Coach Cameron in Huntington Beach. The kids had varying activities to do & were constantly monitored for proper behavior. My son always had fun & enjoyed playing the small scrimmage at the end of the session. Water breaks were given when necessary & stretching done the first/last thing of the activity. My wife and I were optimistic that our son was going to have fun while learning core values such as respect, integrity, etc... I think the fun part was satisfied but only because there was hardly any structure and each day was a child free-for-all. We weren't expecting it to be a "drill sergeant-like" atmosphere, but the lack of instruction and skill improvement left us disappointed. Needless to say, if you are looking for a place to take your child to blow off some energy and a glorified babysitter, I would potentially consider it, but if you want your child to learn fundamentals of the sport and intermediate basketball skills then stay away. read more

My son (6 years) has had a wonderful time doing Skyhawks. I love that it is at the school and that it is something that he can do with his school friends right after school! My only growth opportunity was that the first 2 sessions the coaches were not the best but after following up with the director. They contacted me back immediately and we spoke about it and I saw improvement (noting: I was not the only parent who called). To me that is what I want to see in a program. Every business has growth opportunities but when they respond to constructive criticism respectfully and professionally and take customer satisfaction into account - that is wonderful!! I signed up my 12 year old daughter for the volleyball camp in Redmond. The description included doing drills for passing, setting, hitting, and serving. It was supposed to be a camp about practicing/learning all aspects of the game. On the first day, they spent less than 30 minutes on real volleyball and snack was almost a full hour of the 3 hour summer camp. She didn't want to go back the second day but thought maybe it would be better-it wasn't. They played games like "find the forest" and a really long name game, which have nothing to do with volleyball. I called their customer service line share my concerns and to ask for a refund, as my daughter had no interest in going back. I was told their regional manager would call me as they did not have any authority. I did get a call which I missed, but called him back 2 times and left messages but never got a return call. It's one thing to have a camp that misrepresented itself/is subpar, but the lack of customer service is terrible. I later found out that they issued a refund by checking my credit card statement. The only reason I did not give this camp 1 star is because the teens/college kids running this particular camp were nice. The camp did not live up to expectations, but I felt the kids were in a safe environment. read more

They should stop teaching high skill sports (like tennis), it requires precise technique and clsoe instruction. It's not like some sports where anyone can be a coach and say "Run fast, don't give up, attaboy, good job team!". The young people who were instructors couldn't even hold the racquet with a correct grip, let alone know if the kid is hitting the ball right. If you can't afford real teaching professionals, get some advanced high school players. At least they'll know how to feed the balls so it doesn't frustrate the kids. I guess it was fine with parents who just wanted babysitting, but I (and probably some other parents) wanted them to have fun and actually like tennis. Now I'm afraid my kids are actually turning away from tennis after hardly even touching the ball with the racquet because the instructors keep feeding the ball completely out of their strike zone. You don't want your grandma to be your kids' golf instructor. In most sports (and especially in high skill sports) you have to hire someone who has experience, if not teaching, then at least playing that sport.for several years. read more

We are a big fans of Skyhawks camps. Our children (now 8 and 11) have been going to multiple camps every summers for the past 3 years. Mostly soccer and tennis in Seattle. It might not be a camp where they learn to be champions but they get to have plenty of fun. My children have attended Skyhawks camps in the Seattle area for the past few years. They love these camps! And I cannot say enough good things about the coaches. As any parent knows, a good coach, just like a good teacher, can make or break your kid's day. These Skyhawks coaches have consistently been fantastic. My kids have done everything from mixed sports mini camps, tennis, lacrosse, basketball, flag football, ultimate frisbee, cheerleading -- and I have been so pleased and appreciative of the caring attitudes from the coaches. There's no way a child can master a new sport in a week. But through these camps my kids have been introduced to a whole lot of sports, gained some new skills, and been cheered on by their coaches. Camp was cancelled possibly owing to miscommunication between school gym availability and organizers. Several families were waiting for 1/2 hour Mon AM and were told that camp was cancelled for the whole week. Alternative programs were offered which wouldn't work for us. read more
