Updated experience... I came here a few years ago and had a better experience! The nail tech who did my nails today didn't know how to shape and paint toe nails. I wouldn't recommend if you're someone who cares about the shape of your nails! She did a sloppy job of painting them with regular polish and kept wanting me to do gel on my toe nails. I refused because I don't do gel polish on my toes, but if you can't paint with regular polish then are you even a good nail tech? If you want something quick and don't care about those things and okay with a regular $25 regular pedicure, then this is your place to go! read more

Money hungry! SOME of the lady's are nice (typically the younger ones) but be careful at this salon regardless. We went in for a basic pedicure ($25) and tipped $5 EACH (it was a regular polish job, basic plain color, no design, no extra added stuff to the pedicure). When handing over $5 to one of the older ladies, she immediately made a rude face and started speaking in her native language LOUD so her coworkers could hear her. When she was speaking, we saw 4 of the ladies heads turn to look toward us. We knew she was talking about us in a bad way. Super unfortunate and unprofessional. Please educate your staff on the meaning of a tip: "a small amount of money given voluntarily to a service provider in addition to the regular price, usually as a gesture of appreciation for good service" According to the definition, I shouldn't even have to give you $1... be THANKFUL. read more

Busy shop with a lot of chairs and regulars get catered to. If you call and ask for a specific lady, they'll tell you to come in but don't expect them to honor that appointment when you get there. I got a gel manicure and pedicure that was very average. The lady that did my pedicure did good until I looked at my nail polish when I got home. The polishing looks rushed. A different lady did my gel mani and it's chipping after 3 days. I didn't expect it to last 2 weeks but only 3 days is crazy. Second time here, but I can't recommend this place. I came in as a walk-in and they were accommodating. But the nail tech who did my manicure cut me not once, but twice. Once with the clippers and once with a nail file. Yes, she filed my skin so hard and quickly that it broke open skin. The tech who did my toes did a good job and I'm happy with the results. This is a volume place and they tend to just focus on butts in seats, and not quality or the health of your nails. I'm sure there are some good techs here, but I'm not coming back to test it out. It's bad in here now. As other reviewers have mentioned, this shop has gone downhill since Patsy is no longer the owner. The reviews on here would be even worse if they were not still factoring in Patsy's reviews. Every time I come in, it seems worse. It's like they've found a way to squeeze a customer into every square inch of the space, and it's beginning to have a sweatshop feel. I went in for a simple manicure and pedicure. You would think it's a crime to not want gel by the way I got asked over and over if I wanted it on my hands and feet. (I don't really understand why people put gel on their toes anyway--seems like a hustle.) I should not have to say four or five times that I want regular polish. Especially when I know they are communicating with each other about what I said I wanted. Another woman came in after me and wanted more extensive work done (probably the gel.) They were about to start her before me but since I was already annoyed at the gel harassment, I kept staring at the technician who seated her. She then seated me and told the woman that I was there first, so she absolutely knew she was wrong before she seated her. But again, I'm that anomaly, that dreaded customer who DOES NOT WANT THE GEL! We can guess why it's convenient for them to push all customers towards gel. 1) I't more expensive 2) While yes, it does last longer, it also keeps you having to come back to them regularly. I don't like the process of getting it off, and I don't like being a slave to the nail shop. All this stuff is bad for you, but I imagine the gel is even worse than regular polish. On to the thing that spurred me to write this review. After a few sub-par visits that I didn't bother reviewing, came the last straw: my polish literally chipped THE NEXT DAY after getting it done. I'm on day two now and I realized that I should have included a picture but guess what? The polish started to fully peel off, so I just went ahead and started peeling the other nails. It wasn't hard to do which tells you how bad of a manicure it was. It almost feels like it was purposeful. Like they'll show me what happens to people like me who DON'T WANT THE GEL. Also, there's a rude guy mentioned in the reviews. He was my last experience, and he was indeed a piece of work. I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say he's an owner. It's hard to see any other way someone with that attitude would continue to work there. So, that's it for me. Disgusted with the atmosphere of the shop and their lack of individualized care for their customers. There are a lot of shops like this, but this is particularly disappointing because this location used to be so much better. I will not be back. If someone knows a shop or technician who does good work and cares about the job they do....please message me. This is not that place. This review is why I like to have my manicure and pedicure done by the same people each time. Mary did my pedicure this time. She's terrible! She got mad because I didn't like the color SHE chose. She was trying to get the acrylic nails off and kept burning me with that tool. She cuts cuticles or SKIN WITH NO cuticle cream. I say SKIN because when she was done, she was clipping cuticles when there was no reason. She didn't put lotion on my hands and I had to tell her to please get the gel powder off my hands. Went on 7/10 to get my nails done and I was a bit nervous at first because of all the COVID stuff. I called to see if I needed an appointment to get my full set and since it was on a Friday, I was ready for them to tell me they couldn't take me. Surprisingly, they gave me a noon appointment so there I went. There is more than enough parking on the back which is so nice. I walked in through the back (their front door is closed so this is the main entrance) and they took my temperature which was awesome. They asked me to wash my hands before I sat down. They have every other manicure and pedicure station closed. They have the plastic partition on the manicure stations. I got my full set gel from Vivian and I believe she did a great job. Shaping, acrylic, dip---- Hit or miss... I have had some extremely talent nail techs; current fav SEVEN. However I had horrible tech trying to get in an get out when the GOOD techs aren't available or in the shop. An every time, I have to come back in under 2 weeks, my cuticles split (you have to pay extra to trim them too), nail shape is off, the nail lift up with to much ease, due to the nail being to thick. When done by Seven I don't have these issues, I say this to say be cautious of techniques used and if not happy speak up. read more

Been coming for many many years. I've followed Cindy to every shop she's been. This place has plenty of parking in back - just off Overhill at Slauson in legendary beautiful View Park. They're usually busy and most technicians have regulars but they do a good job of fitting in walk ins. I come for pedicures and occasional polish change on my hands and there no better place in the city. Attention to detail is their speciality and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. Cookie and Amy are the owners and they run a very clean and organized shop. Prices are very good for their excellent quality and service. They have a gigantic selection of regular, gel and powder colors. They have literally every color (regular and gel) that OPI makes and all of the other top gel and powder brands. I get compliments everywhere I go. Cindy is the best but I'd you want her, you will have to be flexible because she stays booked with her long time regulars. PRO TIP: Hilltop Coffee is just a few steps away so you can grab coffee and something tasty to eat before or after your appointment. read more

I haven't visited this place for a long time and for good reason. I had to go today since my usual place is closed. The gentleman that did my manicure was so rough and his work was ugly. My cuticles look flooded and I already know the edges are going to lift once they start growing out. Both techs rushed through my manicure and pedicure. No tips and def not coming back. The people are sweet but unfortunately they are overworked like most salons, traffic was bad yesterday on a Friday evening so I called Skylar nail on my way home and they took me right away. The salon was packed, I asked for a specific French tip design, the guy assigned to my manicure started it but couldn't finish it, the next lady that came to work on my hands was simultaneously answering phones, directing employees and doing my nails. In the process she cut me while filling the side of my pinky nail in a very rough rushed disassociated fashion. When I said ouch she looked at it and said "ohh it cut you". I Didn't realize how bad it was until she put alcohol on it and it burned like no other, when I inspected it, I saw just how deep the cut goes along the side of my finger nail almost separating nail from nail bed,blood began to run down my finger. She put peroxide and some tea tree oil butter that looked very used. I'm keeping it clean and praying no infection happens here. Smh I am in pain and low key stressed because I have to leave town in two days with this open wound. read more
