Back to back Skyline's make me so happy. I will always stop at a Skyline and dive in head first. I don't get out this way very often and after growing up very near several Skyline spots I miss it daily. Louisville is on the south end of where you can find this delicious offering. So, I would recommend stopping here and getting the cheese coney and chili cheese fries too. The lunch rush was not an issue this day. The folks here handled their business with expertise. We didn't wait for anything. Our drinks and food both came fast. Our server was brilliant and we left extremely satisfied. I'd hit it every chance I got. I love Skyline chili. read more

I'm not from the Midwest, but I know the reputation of Cincinnati chili (slightly sweet with cinnamon taste) and have wanted to try Skyline Chili, so we grabbed Skyline for lunch. We went to the drive thru, and the service was good and friendly. The atmosphere was typical fast food. We ordered the 4-way chili (with beans, no onions) with some hot sauce on top, and it was good - better than I was expecting. I was told that you are supposed to cut with a knife and not twirl, so that was helpful not to splatter. The fries were ok but not as crisp as I like. I was told it's tradition to put a drop of hot sauce on each oyster cracker and eat them as an appetizer (cracker bombs), so I had to try it. It was good. Have to stop by each time I'm in town from Arizona. The food is always great and different. I do find it annoying when I can see my plate on the counter ready for pick up two feet from my waitress while she fiddles with her phone before putting it back in her purse. read more

it is simply not memorable in a good way. The desserts are just something they buy and resell. The place could use some updated guidelines for employees to follow and a dedicates dishwasher-busser. nothing grosses me out more than having somebody with a plate with somebody else's saliva all over it saying "I'll be right back to take your order". It wasn't until recently that we started to frequent Skyline Chili. There's no reason why we didn't go often before, there are just SO many food options along what I'm going to call the Hurstbourne Corridor that it didn't really bubble up to the surface. A couple months back we were looking for something that was different, relatively fast, wouldn't break the bank, and (most importantly right now), that we could eat in. We were actually headed somewhere else when I spotted Skyline Chili and said to the wife, "The Wife, how about Skyline Chili?!?!". She said "That sounds awesome!" I love the laid-back dining experience at Skyline. No hostess stand for you to wait at and hand you a menu, then escort you to a table. Walk in, find an open table, and have a seat. The server brings Oyster crackers and a smile within minutes, takes your drink order, and asks if you need a menu. The menu isn't extensive, but it covers all the bases. They've got wraps, salads, burritos, chili dogs, bowls of chili, and a kids menu. And, of course 3-, 4- and 5-way Chili, which looks AMAZING. Your food is prepared in plain sight behind the counter, and the food delivery is surprisingly fast. I'm the kind of guy who finds something he likes at an eatery and tends to stay with it. That brings me to the Chili Deluxe Burrito. I don't know that I've had anything else on the menu because this is so friggin' good. Skyline chili wrapped in a tortilla, then smothered with more chili with a bunch of other stuff that makes it an amazingly beautiful entrée. I always onion on the inside and then opt for the Extreme Habanero Cheese (a slight upcharge) to zestify (yea, I just made that word up) the experience. I love this thing to death. It looks huge (see my posted photo) but at the end of the meal you're not stuffed. It actually pretty perfectly portioned. The staff here is always friendly and helpful, even down to servers helping tables that aren't theirs. That's kind of teamwork that makes a great establishment. If we need a drink refill other servers don't mind helping. In some eateries servers can be territorial, deferring to the "I'll let your server know". Not here. Nope. We stopped in the drive thru while we were in town on a road trip. I haven't had Skyline Chili before and my husband wanted me to try it. We ordered two Cheese Coney's. The employee taking our order was really nice and patient with us as we went around the car trying to decide if we wanted to try something else or if what we were ordering would be sufficient. I took and bite and suddenly realized there might be cinnamon in the chili... I'm allergic to cinnamon. My husband throughly enjoyed the Coney's and was happy to have them all to himself! I will never not recommend this place. It's truly just such a good little spot for a fast and cheap lunch. Tried this place out for the first time while in town for an event. Place was clean and staff was friendly and helpful. We got 4 cheesy coneys and 4 way with onions plus two sodas. Everything came out hot and had alot of flavor with the signature mountain of cheese on top of everything. As a cheese lover this was perfect for me and my husband. I'm from Cincinnati and love my Skyline! I've been to other Louisville locations and it wasn't the same - the cheese wasn't as fluffy, the buns not as soft, the atmosphere not as welcoming... I'd given up on Skyline in Louisville. But with a tremendous craving, I decided to pick some up from the location near my new apartment. And it was just like home!! For a fast food dine in experience this this is the spot. The staff is friendly and the place was clean without any sticky feeling that fast food places usually have. The food was awesome especially the three way of you like chili. The chili here isn't like the October chili that your grandmother makes but it is it's own experience. I would also recommend ordering a large and splitting it if you want the same thing as your dinning companion because the large is 50 cents more and will easily feed two or give you some to take home. It's been years since my last visit. Why my friend asked? Because I have family from the Covington/Cincinnati area who make their own wonderful chili with a slight change to their recipe. Since it's been awhile since having my unique chili fix. We stopped by to check out the extended menu choices and I found twists on salads and wraps as well a traditional chili any way you like. My wrap the Buffalo chicken blue cheese was flavorful plump with requested veggies and tasted as advertised, Yummy! The three way chili my friend ordered "dry" I hadn't heard chili ordered this way before, A martini yes! I was just the way she liked. Another surprise a waitress. Went to this Skyline on Thursday and ordered two cheese coneys and asked the waitress to be sure that they really put some chili on the dogs as they have been very dry lately. Long story short, there was very little chili on my dogs. When I went to pay, the manager asked me "how was everything". I told her that they were barely putting any chili on their dogs. She told me that by corporate policy, they had to use a special ladle to meter the chili on a dog. I don't go there to buy a dry hot dog. I go there to get a chili dog. I live out of state and was so excited to return to an area with Skyline Chili. We ordered bowls of chili and coneys. Onions, cheese and sour cream were packed separately. This new location for Skyline is excellent. It's much more convenient and is way easier to see from the street. Parking lot appears to be larger and the interior is way nicer and brand new. My wife and I were on our way to see Alton Brown perform downtown at the Kentucky Center and I though I could surprise her by stopping here with her for her favorite treat. Little did I expect that when I ordered a large five-way they would bring out Mount Chilympous. Seriously, this thing had cheese for days. Leftovers? What, are you kidding me! I'm no amateur. Regardless of the location, Skyline Chili is my go-to place! I started going to Skyline in 1986 when I attended Xavier University in Cincinnati. Skyline has everything from chili to burritos to salads to fries (as well as funnel fries!) and much more. This particular location is right off Hurstbourne Parkway not far from Shelbyville Road. I have tried this place twice; This food is truly garbage... order the chili 3 way and a cony dog with chili and cheese.. the 3-way chili was just slopped in the bowel.. (presentation was sloppy and the cony dog was not hot).. do not think I will be back. There were several tables that had not been cleared and were dirty (not wiped down for the next customer and trash was on the floor) I had to walk around to find a clean place to sit.. looking back in the prep area food was dropped on the counter and not cleaned up.. maybe the young kids working this shift were not taught to clean. read more

For the life of me, I cannot understand why this place only has three stars. It's a relatively new location that's conveniently located (even though getting into the parking lot could make a newcomer a bit confused) and the food/service is consistently good. For being as inexpensive as it is, I have always gone in with an understanding that the service may be subpar, but that has never been the case. The waitstaff is attentive, communicative, friendly, and the food is always prepared to my specifications (dry chili 3 way). I also like that every server I've had offers to give me a to-go soda. All in all, it may not be anything spectacular or fancy, but this location is a solid restaurant that deserves an honest review. Great job, Skyline! read more
