I am ashamed to admit that I have only recently tried Double Dogs, despite it being located in my back door. However, I have already returned once after my initial visit and am sure that my husband and I will be frequent flyers. The ambiance is sports bar with (unless I miscounted) 33 large TVs, the bar, garage doors that open to the outside patio where 4-legged friends are welcome, friendly and efficient service, and best of all, they support the Kentucky Humane Society. Oh, and that tagline though- "Sit. Stay. Eat." Despite the sports bar ambiance, it is definitely child/family friendly. On both my visits (lunch time) there were many families enjoying their lunch. The menu is expansive with the burgers and hot dogs being the main call, but also includes, wings, sandwiches, pizza, and so much more. I opted for the 'breakfast burger' which included the burger, cheese, onions, bacon, and a fried egg. Honestly, one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. I substituted green beans for the included fries, which I often do when eating out. Typically, I end up with a small bowl of what is akin to baby-food vegetables! Not the case here. The green beans were whole and perfectly cooked with a mild crunch and had a delicious seasoning. Talk about being pleasantly surprised. Folks, this is not your 'typical' bar food! This stray dog will definitely return, and I may get a microchip that reads "return to Double Dogs if found." read more

5/23/26 We had a nice dinner at Double Dogs in Middletown around 8:30. Our server was Sebastian Y and he greeted us immediately. He brought us our drinks and we were ready to order. The last time I was there I had the Breakfast Burrito and loved it, but I prefer it without the Pico de gallo. It comes with Chopped bacon, three eggs scrambled, cheddar and jack cheeses, pico de gallo and fries all wrapped in a flour tortilla. It's really great! My husband had the Bacon Cheeseburger. Single hamburger patty topped with one slice of American cheese, two slices of hickory smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato and Duke's® Mayonnaise. He also likes The Bo' Burger. It's hard for him to choose. The Bo' Burger has grilled onions, American Cheese, lettuce, tomato & pickles and a Special Sauce! For $4.00 more you could have a double Bo' Burger. In fact they have 9 different hamburgers to choose from, 5 different sandwiches, 9 Starters, and more. You can even buy your dog some handmade dog treats. Our granddog, HashBrown really liked them. This night Baseball, Softball and Harness racing was on and there was quite a few families gathered inside the restaurant and a lot of friends eating outside with their fur friends. It was a nice volume in the restaurant. Our food came very quickly, Sebastian was a great server. Every time he passed by our table, he smiled and checked on us. I also kept thinking that he really looked like someone I had met before. When he brought us our ticket, I saw that his name was Sebastian and I remembered that he had waited on us a year or two ago, twice! He even remembered us! If you are craving a hotdog or a hamburger in any combination, you should visit Double Dogs located on Shelbyville Rd near the I-265 exchange in Middletown, KY. This establishment is essentially a large semi-open air sports bar featuring televised events all over in 30+ big screens. If it's televised, they have it on! The menu has hamburgers and hotdogs in so many ways it is mind-boggling. I got the Breakfast Burger that included a fried egg with a side of home-made onion rings. The 'BOMB". Double Dogs has re-written 'bar food'. The cost is quite competitive with nearby chains in the area and features quality definitely a step above. A large bar area and lots of big TVs around that had sports playing. Neat atmosphere. Our waitress was attentive and came around often. We were never without drinks or anything. The breakfast hot dog was messy and hard eat. Very good flavors and I think it was a beef dog which made it even better but wish they would have cut the hot dog in half to make it a bit easier. They do not have the best fries. The melted cheese on them was pretty flavorless as well. I'd go again and get another hot dog. Always has a chill vibe. The bartender was attentive! It is always nice to get to experience and enjoy when the big doors/windows are full open, brings just a little bit of the outside, indoors! Recently had the jalapeño burger, unfortunately, it was very bland, and I was left unsatisfied by that. My friend ordered some onion rings, they were pretty decent but the honey mustard condiment stole the whole show. We discovered Double Dogs last February when heading south through Bowling Green Kentucky. We liked it so much we planned our return to stop there again. I was pleased to learn there are multiple locations and on a last trip, we found there was a Double Dogs in Louisville. This location is in a strip shopping center and seemed a bit smaller than the one in Bowling Green. Fast forward - size doesn't matter and this location was just as outstanding! Our standard order has become Gene's Crunchy wings which are double fried and unbelievably good, hand tossed chicken fingers and homemade onion rings. I could not detect a bit of difference and our enjoyment equaled our previous visits at the Bowling Green location. Service was "as good as it could be" before and it was just as good at this visit. Only regrets are I would love to try other menu items but we're in an area where we can go to Double Dogs only 2-3 times a year. That infrequency breeds cravings for the double crunch wings and fingers. Often you will see a difference when a restaurant has several locations. We haven't detected any. Double Dogs continues to be a winner for my family of 4, especially when it comes to burger and fries. We've returned periodically since my last review and it's consistently good, plus we almost always are seated right away and greeted by our server. My favorite burger is the bacon cheeseburger with fries. Lots of beers on tap if you'd prefer something more than soda. The patio stays busy here. Some seats are available directly at the bar. I heard great things about this place so went here with a friend to try. The menu is pretty limited in all aspects, but the items they do have looked interesting and good. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich, and my friend got the buffalo chicken mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was so much better! The sandwich was fine, but I got ranch instead of blue cheese and the ranch was terrible. The fries were mediocre. Drink options were a bit limited too, I got a cosmo and it was good. Driving around Middletown looking for a place to dine, looked at several places for wings. As we passed Double Dogs, it was packed in the parking lot - something pulled us in to find a parking spot - yes one left. There was only 4 bar seats available, so instead of waiting for a table we took the bar seats. We quickly struck up a conversation with them. Shortly after our food arrived; the wings were nice and plump and generous amount of sauce and the burger was decent size and well dressed. As we started to eat our new found friends commented on the our food choices. I ordered 6 wings; which was filling me up; but I wanted to take some home; so got another 6 to go. Burger and fries were good and tasty with fresh jalapeño and pickled jalapeños. As we ordered another drink, we talked to bartender who said he worked several other places and kitchen and food was by far the best he's worked at. Great sports bar if you're up in that part of Louisville. Multiple TVs allows you to catch whatever game you're looking for from almost any seat. Hailey and Nick do a great job if you're sitting at the bar. Lots of locals and repeat customers. Typically busy on Friday and Saturday night. Food is good. My first time here and it was a good experience. Servers were around often to check on us. Surprisingly, I never see a drink menu??? I asked the server for a dark beer- porter or stout. She said they have a vanilla porter so i agreed to that. My beer came in a tall, frosty glass and was about 20oz. I have no idea what the ABV was but it wasn't that strong cuz after that beer and no food, I wasn't feeling anything. It was a tasty beer though. No idea how much it cost. For food, it's mainly fried everything, burgers and salads. For fried, there are pickles, which was had, and were surprisingly expensive. $9.99 for a basket of fried pickles??? Otherwise there are wings, onion rings, chicken tenders etc for the fried options. Bathrooms are clean. Parking is a private lot. There's a cute patio. I ate at the one in Bowling Green on business, so when I got home and discovered this location, I had to bring my husband to try it. It was even better than the Bowling Green location! I loved how they had garage doors that rolled up so you could sit at the bar outside and you got the best of both worlds by watching the TVs and people in the inside. The food was amazing! The employees were all smiles. The atmosphere is my kind of place. If I lived closer I would be here all the time! I also loved that the checks/receipt had a carbon copy! You don't see those at many restaurants these days but I think that is so much easier than printing multiple copies for customers to keep. read more

Happened to be in the area and thought we would give Double Dogs a try. Driving through the parking lot, finding a parking spot proved to be difficult as all the spots were gone. Hmm, this place must be pretty good if you cannot find anywhere to park in this big lot! When we went inside, it was full, but they had a some tables open. They gave us a table with hardwood stools to sit on. Being an older gentlemen with a spouse that has back issues, this proved to be a task. After awhile it became quite uncomfortable to sit at a stool leaning over to eat. Also, to top it off, they had way to many tables and not enough room to move about. Plenty of TV's everywhere! Every nook and cranny had a TV! If you like sports, and dont have a TV, go here, you will find a TV! Now, to the food. We ordered the Blue Cheese Burger with the Breakfast Burger, along side with some cole slaw. Both burgers were super good! The Blue Cheese was just right with flavor bursting in all directions. A nice thick burger on a perfect sized bun. The Breakfast burger of course had an egg, and she really loved it! The cole slaw seemed like it had Thousand Island in it. It was so, so good!
