Oh, and the initiation fees. Yeah I'm probably bitching about the jerk-offs for the simple reason that I don't have a spare $150K or whatever to join their club. So if you are like me and appreciate a sporting tennis match now and again, GTC has you covered for minimal financial damage and a break from the country club routine. The courts are well surfaced and maintained. Lighting is fine. The pro's are laid back and good at what they do. The setting is pretty and pastoral with trees and parks around you and not much in the way of noise pollution. Tennis drills are fantastic out here. They run usually Monday through Wednesday from 7-8:30, Saturdays at 10:30 and Sundays at 4:30. Call ahead to make sure before you go. There are a lot of good players and some beginners and everyone I've met is cool. If USTA leagues are your game of choice, several teams are based out of here including men's teams coached by John Sisk who regularly make the playoffs and push deep into the Sectional State Championships in many cases, with a few runs to the Nationals as well. There are also some mixed dubs teams playing here with Eric Gordon running a team for the last several years. If you are a ringer or have some friends who play, you should come on out and check it out. And although the neighborhood around the tennis complex gets sketchy quickly, know that you can pick up some of the best pupusas around with a 5 minute drive after your match.

The instructor was a great communicator and demonstrated the steps in the simplest form making it easy for a beginner like me to follow along. I was actually sore the next day! The facility is quite large and offers a variety of services. We were in a large room with tall floor to ceiling windows that faces the park. It was nice to be able to see outside and enjoy the greenery. However, this also meant that the instructor was backlit. She did not turn on the lights in the room. This was okay for me, but it probably would have been better if she has turned on the lights so that we could see her better. In the hallway, there were a lot of paintings on display and they were actually for sale. They highlighted local artists and several of their works. The paintings were priced around $250. It is very reasonable considering the cost of canvas, paint, frame, and the creativity and labor that goes into the work. The front desk staff were helpful. I stopped by there first, and one woman staff member was kind enough to walk me to the room where my class took place. The gym has several of these large rental room spaces, but it also has a gym with treadmills, ellipticals, free weights, and machines The City of Richardson allows access to this facility and Heights located in opposite sides of Hey 75 for an annual fee of $70 to residents, even less if you are a senior. You can also get a membership if you aren't a resident of the city. It costs a few dollars more. It's a great deal since most commercial gyms cost $100 a month compared to the price here for an entire year! The hours change, so it is best to check the web or call the main number. It's usually open until 10pm on weeknights, excluding Fridays, but closes earlier on the weekends.

These blue bags are how the city picks up recycling at our curb once a week. I had such a letter and needed to get some blue bags. They are fairly inexpensive to buy if you don't happen to have a letter. The woman at the counter was so pleasant and cheerful! Richardson is a great city to live in. We are lucky to have such great city services: trash pickup twice per week and recycling pickup once per week. Also a Babic- Brush and Bulky Item Collection can be scheduled for larger bulky trash items (furniture, old appliances, etc) weighing over 50 pounds, brush and tree trimmings, etc. The pickup day is the same as your recycling day. This varies depending on where you live within the city. You can go to the city website www.cor.net for more information or to schedule your bulky pickup. There is also a phone app "My Richardson" where you can also schedule through. So convenient and easy!

Instead, the walls are a light beige, making it seem kind of muddy, and the light is a little yellowish too. I was also a little surprised that they didn't have more squat racks (four). Although the number that they have for here is more than adequate I guess. They also have two Olympic lifting platforms which, interestingly enough, were being used all the time when I was there. It's nice to see people doing Olympic lifts, I used to think no one ever knew about them. Lockers Non-descript. The type where you bring your own lock, though most of the lockers are not day lockers but people's personal lockers. The showers seemed decent. Also, it seems one of the sinks was having issues, have no idea how long that had been going on but they way it was talked about seemed like it had been that way for a while.

An electrician on site mentioned it was due to electrical issues, which honestly makes sense considering how often the machines don't work properly. The frustrating part is there was no notification anywhere saying the facility was closed. Google Maps showed the place as completely open. I've been to other D-BAT locations, and this one is by far the worst experience I've had. Even the bats are in poor condition.
