So i came here and the wait was really long and there was not even that much people. The food was good atleast so that helped the rating. The host was not that nice but she was okay but i will let it slide after a long day of work. There were nice waiters so thats a plus. The bathrooms were dirty they can do a better job but the main area was pretty clean. So overall this place is good but the wait sucked it felt like i was sitting there for ages even cracker barrel is way faster with 5 times the amount of people inside. I give 3.5 stars but thats not an option so 4 stars read more

I have had some of my best eat out food in Clayton at Skylines. Staff is friendly, professional, and fast, and this place is very clean. I've been here twice and been happy both times. They have many vegetable options which I love. Most restaurants can't get beyond three different ways to cook a potato, and Skylines has many other veggies to go along with my fish or meat. Portion size average and a little pricier than average but only a little, not exorbitant. Now, that said, the preparation and food quality has been excellent both times, so I don't mind paying a little more for the higher end variety and quality. It's worth it. Despite the highway strip-mall location, they have been packed both times in the restaurant and at the bar. Good crowd, no rowdies, more of a contented dinner crowd is the atmosphere. I should say again, the food is excellent and service is professional and friendly. Only thing I would change is the location, but with the commercial area nearby, they probably get and cater to, a large professional clientele for lunches and such. So I wrote a review 10 months ago! It was not flattering because the food was not good. Instead of the owner reaching out to me to see what could be done she tried to trash me saying I guess I never had anything good to say cause all my reviews were 2-3 stars. This encouraged me to take a look. I have 53 reviews on here 33 which are 4-5 stars. That leave 25 1-3 stars! Sorry but I will not be giving participation awards for food or services that cost me money and do not satisfy. I thought the entire purpose of a review was to to help others come to informed opinions! Customer service means nothing to some companies. Sad! And yes I have not returned to Sky line. I had heard a lot of good things about this place, and never payed any attention to it even though I've driven past it so many times. I decided to try it one night with a coworker. We placed an order to pick up and it was ready within 30 minutes. Everything on the menu sounds good, but I settled on the lamb burger with grilled vegetables and the buffaloes cauliflower. The burger was huge, and looked great with feta cheese, red onions, and tzatziki sauce, and it tasted amazing. The buffalo cauliflower was great too, and tasted almost as if eating boneless chicken wings, with blue cheese that was really good. The grilled veggies were good but wish they gave a bit more. The chicken salad sandwich was not good and the sandwich was missing a lot of chicken salad. The bread was standard loaf bread and much of the sandwich was bread only. It had one small piece of lettuce and two slices of thin tomato. The flavor just wasn't good and I had been wanting to try this place for years. Very disappointing. The chips were tasty but not plentiful and lots of broken pieces. Will go back to Tavern 42. Their chicken salad is amazing, as is their Ranch dressing. read more

Got lucky last Friday. Needed to find a place for dinner for 5 on short notice. Called and Skylines fit us in. The vibe is calm, the music subtle enough that we could have a conversation. Menu had a nice variety of meat and fish and traditional offerings but I could not resist the eggplant parmesan. A pleasant surprise with a healthy square of finely layered eggplant and a flavorful tomato sauce. Being Italian, I was very pleased, and told the chef so, when she came to check on us. But the Caesar Salad that I had here several times before Covid was the absolute best I've had anywhere before. Because we're quite particular, yes perhaps unrealistic, we've reserved the 5-star rating for Skylines. It's yet to come, we think, as Skylines is very capable of it. Just as most of us can improve as individuals, Skylines will get better. The ingredients are there. The owner, Tina, takes great pride in the food she serves, and it IS good. The filet, salmon and barramundi are favorites of ours. We like them with risotto. And be sure and get a side of the fried spinach. It is so light and flavorful you'll want more. The wine list is tasty, and the atmosphere is cozy. Okay. They've done it now. FIVE stars for Skyline after the recent visit. I knew it would happen eventually, and I've upgraded my rating. The filet and the barramundi came to the table hot and flavorful...so good that Mrs. A. remarked how slowly I was eating. Oh, this was on the third Friday of the month. That's wine tasting night. Cannot actually count how many times I have been here, know it is somewhere between 10-20. Each time I come it does not matter whether I am alone, with my wife, or with visiting family it does not disappoint. I have never received bad service, the family owned establishment goes out of their way to make me/us feel welcome and what is not my staple here, being the Clayton Club is always spot on! Just a quick turn off Route 70 in Clayton's east side of the limits heading towards or from Smithfield. Keep a look out if you are not familiar you could miss it. Enjoy! read more

Yep. Skyline's just guaranteed that I will NEVER order an order to be delivered from them again. First....a lamb burger for 15+ dollars. That is excessive but...okay.... So, when I asked for my side to be chips (and requested a large(ish) portion of said chips, they didn't call me or ask if I was looking to have an EXTRA large portion, they just arbitrarily added an uncharge to my ALREADY RIDICULOUSLY expensive Grubhub charge. Not impressive. Not good business. Extra chips has a cost of just pennies...their random uncharge of $2 just guaranteed that I will never, ever, order from them again. The food is really JUST OK. Never again. Also...lamb burger was not at all tasty. What a waste of a fairly large amount if $$ read more

We have eaten here before and the food and service have been good. However, tonight was different. The service was good but the food was mediocre at best. I ordered the Southwest chicken and pasta. The description said it came with onions, peppers, tomatoes and green onions. When I received my dish there were no tomatoes or green onions. The peppers and onions were raw and appeared to be thrown on the dish as an afterthought. I mentioned it to the waitress, the raw onions and green peppers, and she said they should have been cooked. She went to the kitchen to get me cooked onions and peppers. As for the chicken there may have been a quarter of a breast at best. I was very disappointed in the meal. As for dessert the sugar on the crème brûlée was burnt and I think there was about 2 tablespoons of crème brûlée. All in all a very disappointing meal. However we had a very sweet waitress. read more

This is one of our favorite brunch spots in Clayton and the food is usually good. But the last few times we've gone the chicken and the waffles have been dry and overcooked. Today we ordered takeout using GrubHub and it was the absolute worst! With food, tax, two service charges and tip we paid $44 for two barely edible orders of fried chicken and waffles. I know it's hard finding help and the consistency and quality of the food depends on who prepares it but they're going to have to do better to retain their customers. I want to be patient and support a local business but I need to get what I'm paying for. My sister just said "if I were the manager i wouldn't let my food go out like this!" Walking through the door of Skylines Cafe, you'll see a stark contrast between the strip-mall facade and the stylish, modern interior. At first glance, the decor is quite nice and you get the feeling that you're in a fine dining establishment. That feeling might even last through the appetizer. When your entree comes, though, you may be a little surprised. I recently went to Skylines with a group of friends for a holiday dinner. We started with a sampling of the appetizers including the fried ravioli, calamari, vegetable tempura, and crab dip - I tried some of each. All of the appetizers were fairly good. The crab dip and fried calamari tossed in peanut sauce were the best of the bunch; the tempura and ravioli were decent but not spectacular. Word to the wise: Skylines' crab dip is labeled as "Charleston" style and, while very good, is definitely not traditional crab dip. For the main course, I ordered the Bayou Ribeye - labeled as a 'peppercorn ribeye' covered with shrimp and 'cajun barbecue sauce.' When the dish came, I was a little surprised. The steak was extremely thin and covered with too much fat even for a ribeye. Knowing that I was ordering a ribeye, I asked for it medium rare to keep the juices intact. When it arrived it was more like medium to medium well, and there was almost no seasoning at all. The barbecue sauce had a decent flavor, but honestly tasted like something you could pick up at the grocery store. Mashed potatoes were also included; those had a good texture and were okay, but very bland - no garlic or any kind of flavor. With a little salt, though, they were pretty good. I guess maybe if the entree had been in the $10-15 range, it probably would have been passable. At over $20 (NOT including the salad), it was certainly overpriced. Were it not for the excellent service, I would have given Skylines 2 stars at most. As it stands, though, our server was very helpful and accommodating, even for our large, boisterous party. He kept our drinks refilled, usually before they were empty, and checked on us quite frequently. If there's one thing that Skylines Cafe appears to be doing right, it's definitely their selection of waitstaff. read more

Was optimistic based on reviews and liked the options on the menu. Service was great but the food was poor and we won't go back. Two burgers were burnt, seafood pasta had overcooked seafood you could tell by taste is was not great quality. Risotto was just a sticky blob that his whole fork picked up the entire very small portion. I was so optimistic that we would find a great restaurant in Clayton that is so desperately needed but no luck. We won't return. read more

This is a great little local place! My husband and I have lived in the area for 3 years and this is one of our fav restaurants. We've introduced a few people to the cafe and they love it also! Prices are reasonable and some dishes have "half" portions (which I like). Calamari appetizer is excellent! Salmon is perfect! Seafood Primavera was awesome!! Waitstaff is A+ (my fav, Leslie). One thing I have observed, especially tonight (busy Wed.) the owner went to tables on either side of us where she seemed to know the people, asking them how everything was and chitchatting... by passed our table. Probably not a good business practice. Our dinner was delicious and we will certainly return. read more

Party of three. Had the balsamic calamari, which was tasty, but again slightly undercooked. The fried pickles were cooked perfect with a pair of delicious sauces. I had the shrimp & scallop with linguini but substituted the marinara for garlic & oil. I was a little disappointed as it lacked the garlic flavor I craved, but I thought the oil was pretty good. Wife loved the salmon with sun dried tomatoes. The menu I feel has to changed somewhat as it was the same last time I was there & nothing really grabbed me as to what I wanted, thus the substitute. Skylines is the best kept secrets in the area! Last night was date night and I wanted something new other than the same boring steak house, food chain, or just average place. I found Skylines and decided to give it a try. Oh my Goodness! A restaurant does not get much better than this. Everything was a 10! I ordered the vanilla craft beer (the name escapes me) and my husband had sweet tea. The tea was not sweet enough for him so the waitress went and made a fresh pot and served it to him! (Talk about above and beyond the call of duty) The tea was then perfect for him. We started with the calamari. It was lightly breaded with a balsamic sauce drizzled over it. This was a bit of a surprise to my husband and I as we've never had it like that before. However, we were not disappointed. My husband who is Silician enjoyed the beautiful tastes of the calamari. Very impressive. It was cooked to perfection, not overdone or chewy or greasy. Next, I ordered a half spinach salad. It had goat cheese on it which I wasn't sure of because I typically don't like goat cheese but decided to try it. I was thankful that I did. The goat cheese was silky and the combination of the flavors complimented one another and it was another winner. For our main course, I had the stuffed chicken and my husband had the seafood alla vodka. I knew there was a wait on the stuffed chicken and that was more than OK with me. I was enjoying the recommended craft beer along with a wonderful atmosphere and a great conversation. You can always tell how a restaurant treats their staff by how the servers react to waiting on you. Apparently, it is a treat to work for Skylines because the servers chatted with us like we were old friends. Told us all about the restaurant and different events they have during the week. Even other servers came by to say hello to us and to make sure we didn't need anything while we waited. The wait for the main entree did not seen long at all and was well worth it. The stuffed chicken was exquisite. The combination of the cream cheese with the spices, herbs, and sauce were something you would imagine getting at an upscale 5 star restaurant in New York. It was magnifique! My husband's Seafood Alla Vodka was very tasty and delicious. The shrimp and scallops were a nice plump size and were prepared perfectly. The sauce was rich and seasoned well. I decided to try the creme brulee as neither my husband or I have ever had it. It was very well done. The custard was perfect consistency and the sugar had a wonderful caramel color with a beautiful taste. I think I got 3 bites before my husband took over the dish and finished it. I noticed that this restaurant had a few bad reviews and it almost deterred me from trying it. They would have been a terrible mistake on my part. Those reviews are 2+ years old. I'm thankful I noticed the age of the reviews and tried Skylines. This is my new favorite restaurant. Everything was absolute perfection. From the food to the service. You would be hard pressed to find a better restaurant in Clayton or the nearby area. My only regret is that I did not take any pictures to share with my review. I suppose I'll just have to go back again to get pictures of this amazing dining experience! Thank you Skylines staff and Tina for giving us such a wonderful, fantastic dining memory.
