I loved that we got on the horses right away. Once on horses that were somewhat aligned with our experience levels and nervousness (I wasn't nervous and got a sassier horse haha), they gave us a brief intro to how to control the horse. Then we were off pretty quickly! The guides spread out throughout our trail group and kept an eye on us. We stayed as a group and they checked in when needed. The views were incredible- we rode right along the river and it was so beautiful. After the ride, we got to feed and brush our horses, and even got to meet some cows and baby horses! It is so lovely to see how happy all the animals are here and how well taken care of they are. Such a special experience!

Choose your shopping time slot wisely. Parking is a hellscape during peak hours on weekends. Go super early when they first open, or after 5pm on the weekends. In this area, there are so many other Asian supermarkets. Some prices are not the best, so look for the sale items to make the trip worth your while. I like the grab-n-go char siu and duck on weekdays in the afternoon (although the setup on a table with a weak heat lamp is a little sketch). There are deals on chicken feet if you're lucky enough to stumble upon them at the right time. Chicken feet are expensive in this area in this day and age. $1.99 is a screaming deal. Their selection of frozen dumplings is very good, although sometimes I can't find some of my favorite items. Supply chain issues? Prime Food/Dim Sum King is one of the best brands. Especially their soup dumplings (a.k.a "mini soupy pork bun").

You can buy a flight of mead concoctions to taste and the buy a bottle or two of your favorite. You can sit inside the Meadery with all that lovely mead (open Friday to Sunday) or take a drink on the lawn overlooking a small orchard, The store is open more often (Wednesday to Sunday) and is located across the parking from the Meadery near a colorful lavender field. The resources and the good intentions are definitely there at Horseshu. That being said, I had a several expectations that were not met. I feel that a beginner's ride should include a quick 5-10 minute safety overview before riding, an explanation of what the ride will consist of (i.e. "We will ride around the arena for 5 minutes until you feel comfortable, then head out to the trail for one hour, then circle back to this arena."), some time getting to know the horses and being introduced to their names and personalities, time for photos in the woods, and a partially-narrated tour with information about local flora and fauna. None of these amenities expectations were met, much to my disappointment. Therefore, I feel that the ride was not a good value. Our guide was callous and resentful. He used curse words several times which for me was not a big deal, but if I had been visiting with my family (and/or children) it would have been distressing. It's possible I caught him on an off day. I had to ask for nearly everything including just getting the name of the horse I was riding.
