Update: after a pretty awful brunch here earlier this year, we gave this place a second chance--this time for dinner. It was a completely different experience this time around. With the exception of unseasoned fries and a room temperature baked potato, our food was very good. We had the cheese curds, which were unique, salads (the Caesar was wow), and prime rib (straight up and as part of a French dip). The beef was really good. Our server was attentive and competent. Very nice place at the horse ranch, with views of the training grounds and lots of interesting horse themed decor but still felt like an elevated dining experience. We tried the brisket special with mac n cheese and roasted potatoes, brisket was a little fatty and not cooked in a sauce, but tasted very good though i was thinking it would be more like bbq brisket. Pulled pork sliders were excellent, and the mac n cheese was yummy. My kid gobbled up the grilled cheese and then ate a good amount of mac n cheese, so bonus points for that. Ok, just to clarify, I only ordered fries and sparkling water, but the fries were AWESOME, and the sparkling water was, well, sparkly. Arrived on a Sunday at 1:50 for a 2 pm reservation. Our first and most likely our last trip here. And, we were so excited about coming. Unfortunately, Ione of our worst restaurant experiences to date. Waitress came by 15 mins after we were seated. Told her it was our first time here, what should we know. She just kind of looked at me. Asked about happy hour specials, was told beer is discounted, that's it. At least as far as our waitress was concerned. The guys ordered their beers, they ordered what was on rotating tap. Then they were told that that beer was not on the happy hour. Beer arrived 10 minutes later. It was flat. Didn't see our waitress again until our food finally arrived at 2:45. Wasn't sure there for a bit if she was going to replace the beers. She almost acted like the guys were lying. Really 40 minutes for a burger, a Reubin, a French dip and Asiago chicken. ( There were only four other parties here when we arrived.) Most of the food was good. Attached is a picture of my "prime rib" dip. Call it what it is! All the leftover fatty pieces. Should be called beef fat dip. Very disappointing. Empty sodas, empty waters......nothing going on in the arena. Waitress finally came by with ketchup, took 10 minutes after bringing our food. Didnt ask how anything was. We ordered a side of fries at this point. Took 20 minutes. When she brought the fries she asked if we wanted dessert. Husband said no, just our check please. Another 10 mins to bring the bill. We gave her our $100 gift certificate for our $80 meal. She came back 10 mins later, saying is the rest of the bill, pointing at the tip. Umm, no the bill was $80, we gave you $100. Really? Maybe she couldn't read cursive, don't know, don't care. This is ridiculous. Finally she comes back, hands my husband the receipt and says that our balance is on the back. I look at it, it says $8.33! OMG, really! We are due $20.00 She was just totally confused, finally explained, and explained again. Finally, she comes back with the right amount. In the mean time two other parties come in, get waited on, get their drinks, their food, their bill and are walking out before us. UPDATE! Two days after posting my review I received a call from the manager. We had a great conversation, she encouraged me to give them another chance. We made it back the 26th. Tried a Saturday, and an hour later. More customers there when we arrived. We were greeted right away and sat within 5 minutes. Menus delivered right away, including a sheet about their happy hour specials. The manager came over, welcomed us, then gave us the history of the Rhodes Ranch. Very informative. Gave us a better appreciation of our surroundings. We ordered the same things we had before. Everything was wonderful. Unfortunately, there were no riders. Maybe next time. It's all luck of your timing. The manager also gave us some information about some of their events. We may have to try one of their murder mysteries! Conclusion: We will be back. We booked the event room for a 70th birthday party for my father-in-law and it was really great. The room was large, comfortable with great decor. The food was amazing, deviled eggs, shrimp wrapped bacon, artichoke toast and deep fried green beans appetizers. The shrimp wrapped bacon was one of the best I have ever had with a sweet spicy sauce, it was so so good. We chose buffet style dinner with starter salads. The staff wished my father-in-law a happy birthday as he went down the buffet line. All the food was really good. Tables were cleared promptly between courses and after meals. This was by far the best catering event service and food we have experienced. I could not recommend Bonnie and the staff at Rhodes River Ranch enough. Great spot! Loved the food selections, the estate is great, and if you are able to make it to a Seattle Knight event it's a must. Lots of drinks selections (wine and cocktail lovers don't you worry). We were wary of food availabilities since we have several dietary restrictions but didn't have a problem. From ahí tuna to stuffed mushrooms to French fries to rib eye to burgers, they have something for everyone (and during jousting/knight events their appetizer menu is served alongside their designated buffet menu). Camping in the area with my wife, we went exploring & happened upon RRR on our trek. We were intrigued with the setup: horse training, vintage showpieces & artworks, and fabulous food. Okay, its location is a bit out of the way from any major urban area, but it is a destination establishment. The restaurant is within a horse arena, which makes for a unique ambiance. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. The menu was a decent size, I think just about anybody can find something to order. The prices were reasonable, the food was well prepared, the portion size were just right, and the staff was attentive. We did order desserts and they were very good. That said, what I found interesting is when we arrived, we were asked if we had a reservation. When I said no, the hostess paused for a few seconds, scratched her head while looking in a book as if trying to figures out where to seat us. I looked into the restaurant and only saw one family seated in the entire place. Even after our hour and half there, the restaurant never got beyond half full. Went to R3 for the Easter brunch. What a beautiful assortment of goodies from eggs to pork of several cuts, beef tenderloin to potatoes, salads to delightful desserts and breads. Waitstaff was a little thin but when we wanted something there was no delay. Yes they were packed and we were there when they opened @ 9. Kitchen crew awesome as usual. I love being here bc it has all the atmosphere of Pinnacle Peak restaurant in Tucson Arizona (my home town); Family-friendly, Western-themed and a vintage cowboy vibe. What a great find at the outskirts of the mountain range. This unique setting incorporates the love of horses with food. The restaurant is built around the ring! During lunch, you can watch riders as they exercise their horses. We want to come back to see the jousting of the kings men during the exhibition of the Seattle Knights Jousting Show. Dinner is included if you so desire or you can just get admission to the show without dinner. They have live music. We had dinner then listened to a Seattle artist sing a variety of '80's and '90's music. It was a great night out. The crowd was lively. The food was delicious. Many items are made fresh here including the slow roasted pulled pork sandwiches with homemade coleslaw. The meats are fresh, the burgers hand patted and juicy as opposed to flat dry burgers we find frequently at other establishments. The prime rib looked fabulous and we are going back another night to order it! I ordered the chicken wings which were served with homemade chips and house-made ranch. The wings were fresh and tasty. I chose the split plate of honey teriyaki and hot wings. Both were good in their own right of sweet versus spicy. I ordered a decaf coffee with a House-made baileys Irish Cream. It was really good! My husband had the Smokey pulled pork sliders, sweet potato fries and a hot cider. The fries were not home-made but were of great quality. Cooked a dente the fries were very tasty and both he and I were surprised to discover they were not made in the kitchen. The place is well appointed with rustic horse farm ambience. The restaurant is inside the barn, so it makes sense! They accommodate large groups. I was fortunate enough to be part of a large party and we dined on a buffet that was well dressed. The buffet food was fresh, juicy, tasty, delicious and the farm hands came in and ate which was a treat to see in itself. The food is great, the service fantastic, the location is charming! I just got a pizza and Reuben and the pizza tasted microwaved and the Reuben was super greasy. I don't reward 5 stars unless a business truly offers the whole package and Rhodes River Ranch Restaurant definitely earns it! First, I am amazed that I lived in Arlington for 4 years before I'd heard of this place! After the Oso slide, I saw a full page spread in the Seattle Times advertising "We're Still Here!", come out for dinner and see Dale Offerman's Wild Mustangs. My 5-year-old horse lover was sold! My husband, on the other hand, was less than enthusiastic about making the long trek out the 530 Hwy to a "dusty ranch". This place did not disappoint, in fact we were all in awe of the 5-star arena in such a beautiful setting. The restaurant itself, sits up above the arena and is completely enclosed, so one does not whiff the horsey smells while enjoying the meal. Everything about the restaurant was great: wonderful service, clean, modern Western theme, interesting conversational furniture & decor. The food itself was nothing fancy (we're not dining at Ruth's Chris), but definitely a step-up from Black Angus or The Outback and priced accordingly. My husband ordered a "Rodeo Burger", which was priced similar with other burger establishments (such as Bobs, Blazing Onion). I had a Prime Rib, which came with garlic mashed potatoes, a side Caesar salad, and french bread. It was not that far off from dining at The Keg. I would happily order it again. The servers were friendly, and the manager went out of his way to ensure we were having an enjoyable experience. A $5 donation to Dale Offerman (not affiliated with the restaurant), got my daughter a lengthy horse ride around the arena. 5 Stars because I can't really find anything that needs improvement. Granted, I live in Arlington and this wasn't a huge trek for me. City slickers beware - this is a "ranch", and it's in the country. It's definitely a different experience than dining at The Met. As such, check the calendar beforehand, call to ensure the horse show is taking place, ask questions (don't assume anything), and take a breath of country-air. We thought it was a great spot for lunch and we enjoyed watching the horse lessons in the arena. There are a lot of signs warning people what to do or not do but I'm not surprised. People don't understand what can or can't go in a septic, what not to take photos of, etc. and if my kids were taking lessons in the arena I wouldn't want strangers photographing them so we were okay with the signage. What we liked the most was that everything was made from scratch - the croutons for the salad, etc. and everything tasted great. Our server seemed nice enough and we appreciated the fun different location for lunch. The pricing of our lunch items was good and we felt that we got good value of food for the money. We also thought they had good variety on the menu with a portobello mushroom sandwich to an elk burger. Very poor dining experience. Went for lunch and was greeted with horrible food (left over meals from earlier in the day), terrible service, and the cost was exorbitant for such a poor meal. Note they will take reservations for 2 pm onwards, though they don't serve lunch at this time. They don't care about alerting visitors to this fact, as long as they get your money (and overcharge you). I do not recommend this establishment in any regard. Went to the restaurant today and there were two young ladies riding horses in the arena below us. One had a beautiful tan horse and the second had what looked like black beauty! I heard some noise and glanced over at a table of elderly folks and they were clapping and having the best time watching the girls. They were just having the time of their lives eating and watching the horses! I dont know if it was planned, but what a wonderful surprise to see horses on a Friday for lunch and our guests next to us being so entertained. When I left, I saw a assisted living facility van in the parking lot. This was obviously their day out on the town. I will def. be back! It was an amazing lunch (and the food was great too)! On Thursday the 20th of September we visited this restaurant for all you can eat fish and chips. First of all the deal was great deal and them portions were large and as well as them fries were really good. The only thing I had an issue with the fish was the breading was kinda hard and didn't stick to the fish inside . Also again this is a horse ranch so you are going to smell them when you get into the restaurant. Also probably to go to this restaurant is in the summer or when it gets warmer. We went early Friday evening for dinner and caught a couple people training horses while we waited for our food. The location is out of the way. Not too many people were there. The food was amazing. Full of flavor and with a perfect texture. I'm surprised dinner didn't cost more. As a highlight, we ran into a lady who introduced herself as the owner of the Rhodes River Ranch. The kids loved her demonstration of her dog's training. It was a perfect evening. We'll make the hour-long drive again in the future. read more
