Back in February when I was unable to connect with the wifi, I contacted skyrunner and I was advised that after the ice storm, the snow and rain was shorting out the service I was advised that it would be fixed by February 24th. Now two months later, with perfectly blue skies...I haven't had Wi-Fi in over a week and a half. I have never experienced such lack of service to this extent with any other internet provider. Wi-Fi is included in my rent and I cannot afford another provider. I am so disappointed in this company. read more

I can't say enough good things about my Skyrunner internet service. The installation was completed efficiently and without a hitch by extremely nice and accommodating technicians. Polite customer service reps have always been helpful and they have been available day, night and on holidays. I have never had an outage or interruption of service that Skyrunner can be blamed for. First off let me say that everyone we came in contact with were extremely nice, most especially the support desk. Sadly, we were not able to get the service we were hoping for and the individual who came out to the home was unprepared in both tools and experience. The real problem we had was upon the first visit we were told that a standard receiver would work. With that amount of confidence we were charged a site visit with the installation of wiring. But here was the problem: upon the second visit it was determined that we would need a Long-Distance Outdoor HD TV Antenna, that resembled what could have been on the Lost In Space television series. So bottom line: great people, but they sold us a solution, partly installed product, then switched the end product at the 11th hour. First visit signal testing should have been done. I've been exchanging emails and phone calls with this business for more than 2 months. A technician came to our house at the end of the day one day, and said we could not get a signal. That's strange, because 2 of my immediate neighbors have their service and rave about how good it is. I even went to their office and talked to people there. I'm trying to get out of satellite internet, and don't have cable or DSL available. I'm tempted to give up, but I need reliable internet with unlimited monthly usage, and this business does not seem to be interested in doing what they advertise. read more

I had been trying to get broadband internet service in western North Carolina for over a year. Cable and DSL were not an option due to the remote location of my home and satellite internet is too slow and expensive. Then I came across Skyrunner, based out of Asheville, NC. Their prices were very reasonable and the setup cost was less than satellite internet setup. Even better, their speeds were faster than satellite or even premium DSL service. Ginny was extremely helpful answering all the questions I had about their service and setup. Their service requires line-of-sight to one of their transmission towers located on several mountains in western NC, so after I confirmed that I had a clear view to one of their towers, Art came out the next day to set me up. The install was quick and painless, even though it required installing a place to mount the receiver and running several hundred feet of cable. The internet service itself is fast and responsive and rivals cable internet speeds. I couldn't be happier! read more

2 stars for the good signal......when we can get one. Currently using my cell phone data to write this. Disclaimer: I'm sure their service varies by area--that seems to be the case based on some of the good reviews they've gotten. We have had their unlimited data plan for two months (my fiancé works from home and needs reliable internet). So far, our internet has gone out 3-4 times for hours and sometimes days. When we signed up for Skyrunner we were excited because staff seemed friendly and we wanted to support local business. The 3rd (!) time our internet went out this month, the customer service associate we spoke to was hostile and unhelpful--she breezed through instructions as if we were tech pros and was curt with us when she could not find a solution. Our internet was out for a full day that time which also means my fiancé could not do his job. Today it went out again and we spent 30 minutes on the phone trying to get it resolved...only to hear that we will have to wait until tomorrow to hear back and **possibly** have a tech come out to fix it in the next few days. At $100 a month, this is not worth it for us anymore and we will likely switch to another provider. EDIT: We were told we would have to wait 4 days for someone to come to our house and **maybe** fix our internet.....safe to say we are switching. read more

I've been with Skyrunner Internet for several years now. It's been relatively great since we signed up, but the service has begun to deteriorate over the last few months. Evenings are horrible at times, as I don't think the equipment is set up to handle the volume of data. When it works, it is the best service I can get in our rural area. When it doesn't, it really puts a cramp on working from home. Most of the people I talk to are friendly, only had one or two unhelpful people over the years. They usually return calls right away also, but I've been sitting here waiting for quite a while this evening. The service is spotty again, and I'm on my phone's hotspot to write this. Hoping they are able to get their act together, as I REALLY need this service where I am at. read more

We live in a location where we only have one choice for an internet provider whose offering is excruciatingly slow and unreliable. I contacted Skyrunner based on a recommendation of a friend and customer. They spent a good deal of time answering my questions and I decided to go with an install. The installer showed up on time and located a signal. After discussing where to mount the dish he proceeded with the install. After dealing with a terrible DSL service I had really hoped Skyrunner would be the solution, but I was wrong. The service seems to come and go, and we it goes it's gone. I've exchange emails and phone calls with no improvement of service. I've been told for months that they're doing upgrades next week, but they never happen. I can't even get a technician out to my house to check my dish. Currently looking for a new provider. I also notice that the two 5 star reviews they got are from areas they do not service.
