But I came along anyway and was very pleasantly surprised! We went in to buy my grandmother a quilt for her new bed. We had some great options- some beautiful ones for $85+, and some cheaper (but still nice) ones around $40-50. We found a $45 quilt that she will really like. My mom felt that some of the prices were much better than you'd find in other places, and some of the prices were about the same. Along the way, we all managed to get sidetracked. I bought an adorable green striped apron for $12. My mom bought a bunch of striped dish towels for 50 cents each, 2 kinds of pillows (one blue with white seashells and one with red/blue stripes) for $10 each, and potholders. My sister bought some sheets for a twin-size bed which were really cheap (I believe about $15 each). The people working in the store were very friendly and offered to help us multiple times. The store wasn't very big but had a lot of fun things in it (even for someone who doesn't like linens!). It did, however, get crowded- even though we were there about 10 minutes after it opened. I really want to rate this store a sort of 3.5 or a 4 minus. We really like going here and do find…read morenice things . But despite a nice variety of items, the prices can be high. I was very disappointed in the childrens clothing. They can only sell what they get donated but I noted condition issues and not much available in some sizes. I thought many of the items should have been on rack of 50 cent items because of the heavy wear of the items. Specialty items like nice gift items, vintage and antique items have antique shop prices not thrift shop. Maybe they need the high prices to support their location costs and their charity support. But there are very few deals. However they have a few racks of $1 items and clearance, and we've picked up several great deals hidden away on these racks. I have also found some nice shoes on my visits. I like this thrift shop but I agree with other reviews about prices. I did see a dress from a designer I know gets $200 new for a dress retail that was $20 in this store, but the dress itself was going to be looking for that one buyer who would look good in the dress. Just because a dress is designer doesn't make it valuable if no one wants it! Anyway, I think it is worth a trip and remember to bring your own bags and ask about discounts.

I went into Maryann's in October 2022, sort of reminded me of a pawn shop, but saw a beautiful Aqua/Diamond ring. The sales person Donna showed me the ring and said from the sales ticket it was $2695. I also asked about the grading of diamonds (color, clarity etc.) She said it would have to be appraised. I found this odd. I didn't purchase it because I wanted to shop around. We went back to Cape May in February 2023 (a few months later), and went into Maryanns shop. The same ring was there, I asked again to see the ring and she and told me the SAME price $2,695. I told her I was interested in the ring but can she do better on the price. She said she would call the owner. I heard her tell the owner ALL details of the ring including the price. She said we can take $500 off which would make it $2,195. I said I would be willing to pay $2,100. She told me she would have to ask the owner and would call me. She took all my info. She called shortly after, left a message on my answering machine(which I still have) confirming to sell me the ring for $2,100. She was sending it out to be appraised. I didn't hear anything for about a month, finally Donna called and said the ring was appraised at $4000. I said great, and confirmed I was paying $2,100. She said absolutely, that was the price agreed to and they would never go back on that. She also said if I wasn't interested to let her know because the ring would be put back out on display and the price would be raised. I told her I wanted the ring. She told me she would message me the appraisal. She never did. Another week goes by...I talked to Donna and was told my ring is at a different shop of theirs, to call and they would ship the ring from that store. When I called, I was told the ring was a higher price $3,295, but she would sell it to me for $2,700!!! I explained that was not the price agreed upon. I was so disappointed and mad that not only was my time waste for month, I was deceived!!! I will be reporting the store to the Better Business Bureau! DO NOT BUY FROM HIS SHOP!

I am confident I am getting an authenitc piece of jewelry that is exactly what she says it is which is also not what I have experienced on the boardwalk. I love this place! Cannot recommend it enough…read more So, I bought a Tissot T-Race watch about 8 or so years ago on a cruise. Not the best watch, so after a few months it quit working, and I figured it might be the battery. But then took it to an "authorized" Tissot repair shop in Cranberry, PA and even with the new battery it died a couple months later. I almost gave up on it, until I met Robin. While in Atlantic City, I walked into Design Jewelry and was warmly greeted by Robin and by the end of the visit I felt like family. I explained my situation and she suggested not only replacing the battery but having a look at the engine to get a better idea of what we were working with. Not only did they fix the watch, but aside from a battery replacement every 2-3 years, it has been working flawlessly. I trust no one else to fix my watch and have been mailing it to Design Jewelry ever since just to have the battery replaced. Thank you so much for the exceptional service and consistent care!
