Warning: this hotel is listed under Santa Barbara on Priceline. It is not in Santa Barbara. It is in Orcutt, a long drive away. That misleading listing is what caused me to book in the first place. When I discovered the error, I called to cancel. I asked three times whether a refund would be approved. Three times I was told yes, the manager would take care of it the next day. Don't worry, it's fine. So I trusted them. The next morning: denied. No refund. No explanation. No accountability. Because I trusted their word, I lost the window to just bite the bullet and make the hour drive to and from family. I had to book a second hotel out of pocket, stretching my budget in a way that was genuinely costly. All because a staff member couldn't simply say "I don't know" instead of giving me false assurances to get off the phone. This isn't a miscommunication. It's a lack of integrity. We stayed here for 1 night this past weekend while visiting relatives in nearby Santa Maria. Plenty of parking and room felt cozy and modern, clean. Breakfast was mediocre as the pastries were stale. Best part of breakfast was the strawberries. Only 1 person staff at the front desk. It was likely the best hotel in the town of Orcutt. We had reservations for August 22-23 Somehow they had it down for July 22-23, which was the middle of the week. We never received any confirmation for July, although they said they sent something, but we never received anything and they couldn't prove that they did. We showed up in August and found out we didn't have a reservation, luckily they had two rooms. They said they're going to reimburse us for half of the July billing. I feel they should've been a phone call in July at the least. We come up here from Southern California for an annual pig roast every year, we won't be staying here again. read more

This was hands down one of the coolest hotels I've stayed in, probably in my lifetime. While in town for business and unsure where to stay I came across the Wine Stone Inn while doing a search on Yelp. Let me tell you, this was one of the coolest hotels ever. From the check-in to the complimentary happy hour drinks, the cleanliness and the comfort of the bed this place is the bomb. I stay at the Wine Stone Inn more than once a year. I'm always met with hospitality from their Front Desk Team however, room cleanliness is very inconsistent. My last stay (Christmas), there were obvious stains on the top blanket, when I opened the bed there was a long hair, and under the bed a dusty bitten chocolate. The cleanliness issues take away from the charm of the Inn and do not align with the high room rates. read more

I found this while planning to stay in the Santa Maria area. I was very excited to come and have the mountain view as I was having my morning coffee since I was going to have a super early checkout. I guess I did not get to enjoy either one. I checked in few minutes prior to 5 pm, and they usually have happy hour from 3-5 PM. for some reason, front desk took time to explain things which is pretty much common sense. Anyways it was around 5:02 when he finished talking and I guess too late for the happy hour. so that wasn't honored. However I was offered their welcome drink which was great! I liked their touches in the room, the snacks, drinks and personal message that was left in the basket. They have Netflix and Amazon which I thought it was great. Bed was really comfortable, they had plenty of towels in the restroom The reason for the 4 stars is for the location of my room. When I contacted them, they said because it was booked through third party and I chose "ADA" room which I don't recall doing, but I was also told that it might have been the last room available and had to take it. In addition, it was too pricy in my opinion, honestly I booked it seeing the mountain view and I was disappointed but did not realize that till the morning as I was leaving and saw other people at the Inn sitting in their balcony. Their coffee is also bad! it was watery. I saw another person staying there that commented on that and how he enjoys staying here but has to leave to get his coffee from Starbucks. Breakfast was not bad, had muffins and cheese Danish, some strawberries, yogurt, juice. Little gem of a boutique hotel tucked in charming little Old Town of Orcutt amidst rolling hills about 2.5 hrs from the greater Los Angeles area. Very peaceful and serene with crisp air due to proximity to the ocean. The room is very nicely decorated and appointed with plush bedding and velvety soft heavy robes provided for the guest's pleasure while chilling on the balcony sipping coffee or the welcome drink. Guest may choose from a variety of welcome drinks that include beers on tap, wine, and bubblies accompanied with light snacks of cheese, almond, and fresh strawberries. There's also a gift basket in the room stocked with curated tasty snacks some from local places nearby. The receptionist Tracy is very welcoming upon check in and Jennifer from the bar is also very nice making us feel comfortable and relaxed. There are a few eateries nearby within easy walking distance or you can order delivery for late night dining as well. Being about halfway between the Bay Area and where we live in SoCal, this place is definitely on our go to place to stay the night (our home away from home) while road tripping. We had a five night stay as a couple here. Great quiet location. Room size was great and bathroom was spacious. Staff was friendly and helpful. Morning Breakfast was not great. It's actually Cellophane pastries with no flavor. They also have instant oatmeal, yogurt, coffee, juice and fruit. We highly recommend Kay's Cafe, which is two blocks away. Never would I normally stumble through Orcutt, but we met some friends and they invited us out. We booked the Wine Stone Inn without knowing anything about the inn, hotel, or area and we were extremely impressed. For being a small town, there isn't much, but this inn delivers in a big way. From the welcome basket, the staff being friendly, and the happy hour in the bar with AYCD wine and craft beers, it's hard to say no. This place was great and just what I needed from a wine country adjacent hotel. The reality is the hotels in Los Olivos are really expensive, but I was still able to have dinner in Los Olivos and stay here. And also, I got the sense that Orcutt has it's own Saturday night scene and restaurants to chose from, etc. Pros: hotel felt very clean, room was modern and spacious, fairly quiet (I'd still bring earplugs because of the road outside), accommodating, had an elevator, luggage cart, ample parking, generous with welcome snacks and water, felt safe, blackout curtains. Cons: not really a "con" just be aware the lobby plays music until 10PM on the weekend + the sound of the road, bring EARPLUGS. Bed was soft (ho-hum) bring your own pillow if you're roadtripping. read more

What a wonderful experience! We could not have been happier with our choice to stay here on our way up the coast. Room was absolutely gorgeous and well decorated, with all the expected amenities and some surprise treats and goodies that were left for us. We had a balcony that would have been utilized if the weather was nicer, but it was a nice feature to have for a different stay! Service was impeccable - kind, courteous, prompt in every way! We loved the wine bar downstairs and would have stayed even later had we not had an early morning. Food / Surrounding area - lots of walkable restaurants to choose from and some shops, as well. Very peaceful, easy to get around, and the area has definitely been modernized and updated to reflect a desire to attract more tourism. We loved everything about our this Inn and our first stay in Orcutt. It will be a regular stop for us in future trips up the coast! read more

Wine Stone Inn is a Boutique Hôtel...Well worth the stay. Friendly, amenable, thoughtful service and staff. Comfortable, clean, well appointed room that has useful gadgets such as Keurig, Imagine 1Steamer, cork screw, Bordeaux wine glasses.  Ecologically friendly large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash in the bathroom so that small polluting plastic bottles are eliminated.  Complementary Goodie Basket of local beef jerky, cheese, crackers, potato chips, water. Bathrobes to lounge in.  Breakfast menu in room is well thought out where you can pick items the day before.   Flute of sparkling Spanish Cava at check in.  There is also complimentary late afternoon Happy Hour beverage & tiny nosh in their guests' only bar lounge during Covid restrictions which was in effect February 2021.  The gigantic strawberries which were part of breakfast are grown by a local farmer whom I met while checking in and filling out the next day breakfast menu at the bar adjacent to reception. He generously gave me a sample as we talked about local places to visit.  They hold a fun "wine bingo" for all the guests & customers where if you win, you can get a glass of wine. I won and got to opt for the wine at breakfast the next day.  Bar Lounge has notable local wines to imbibe as well as purchase. I was able buy the vaunted Presqu'île Pinot Noir 2017 at the bar without having to go to the trouble of making a hard to get reservation and driving to the tasting room even if I could get it on such short notice.  Wine Stone has a system where they can extract a glass of wine while keeping the wine bottle corked so you can take the undrunk portion home for later enjoyment and minimal degradation of the quality of wine in the bottle. Very Short walk to Old Town Orcutt Village for good eating and drinking. Rather semi rural setting where I heard frogs while I sat in my mini patio at dusk.  Nearby Hitching Post for Santa María red oak bbq, wineries to visit as well as short day trips to the blue Pacific Ocean beaches, charmIng San Luís Obispo, and all points around the Santa María Valley.   Only glitch was the trash truck that comes to pick up the metal trash bin on Marcum Street that came crashing down midmorning near my room which woke me up from a  previous night's wine induced slumber.   5 stars read more

I would rate this hotel a 3 possibly a 4, but definetly not more. Continental breakfast not to par, 3 greek yogurts, packaged instant oatmeal, packaged pastries, posdibly and most likely purchased from Costco. Small 3 variety, poppy seeds, blueberry and chocolate. 3, one liter carafes. One was water, apple juice, i think and orange juice, not freshly squeezed. Minute made tastes better. I was looking forward to a bagel w cream cheese or toast. Nope not here. Anyway moving on remote did not function correctly, had to keep pressing same button over and over to get it to do what i needed it to do, like change the channel or select something. Upon arrival not an offer of helping with bags at all or offered a bag trolley. Reception let us know about the complimentary snacks and wine bottle as i proceceed to let her know we don't drink alcohol and if it could in anyway be replaced with a non alchohol beverage. She said she would ask manager. Never received any information back or response. Next day at 6am looking for no where to be found bagel. I did mentioned to the front desk person about the wine bottle, he explained they do have a non alchohol wine bottle, which they do not give out for free. Hmmm okay do you think if we talk to manager he maybe be willing to switch bottles. No i am the manager was the response i got. Back to the room i go. Leave to work anf asking the housekeeper in the way out. Do i need to let someone know if we need room cleaned and picked up. No was her response just put the sign hanging to knock before entering. Okay. Looking forward to restfull and much needed sleep. I was happy to see bed made. When i out glasses and phone down i see same wrappers, used napkings and dirty plates from breakfast still in the same place untouched . Tired as i was, i had to ask why was that left like that dont't they disgard of that, which he (manager) went on to say oh if they see half eaten food in dishes they assume it shouldn't be touched. You may want it for later. Anyway, baffled with a higher than 3 star rating. He still went on to say they will take out the trash only in the waste basket. Well how about the dishes they were empty with used paper napkins. I think plainly looks like it needs to be disgarded, ok. Thankfully the towels were replaced. I can finally take a shower, oh but wait after standing there trying to get some warm water on me, i finally just washed off with cold running water. Wow that woke me up. No hot water to either side of nozzle. . These inconveniences don't meet up with a 5 star rating hotel. Quiet time is 10pm so after a few hours of hearing the loud people in the bar, i knew possibly at 10 i would get some sleep. 2 nights there felt long. read more

Ok, here goes... Orcutt? Have you heard of this town? I haven't until now... Driving into Orcutt, you feel transported into a scene from a movie, a quaint/sleepy town with a few restaurants. We pull into our Wine Stone Inn. It is a small boutique hotel with a handful of rooms. Walk into the hotel, greeted by sweet Zee! She was super friendly and excited to greet us. The guys at the bar: Justin and Cesar rolled out the red carpet and welcomed us with a sparkling wine and plentiful wine/beer. It's happy hour from 4-6 p.m. for hotel guests...ahem Free for Hotel Guests. This is definitely my kind of place to call home to for this Labor Day weekend. Zee says, you're in hotel room #12, that's one of my favorite rooms! It overlooks the mountains and although there are some traffic sounds for those heading on to PCH, the traffic wasn't bothersome. The view was amazing. The room was immaculate and clean. Complimentary breakfast for guests each morning. If you arrive before 8 a.m. there are pastries/coffee/yogurt/granola/fruit/coffee, and if you come down a little later, there are more savory dishes like quiches available. With taxes, our Labor Day weekend was about $400 per night. They have on-site parking and parking directly next to the hotel. The hotel was within 15 minutes to the nearest winery, this is a great location and a good home base if you plan to drive to wineries and eat at good restaurants in Ember in Arroyo Grande/ Hitching Post in Casmalia. Wife and I live around the corner and we hadn't stopped by until Saturday! I have to say that I'm glad we did and we'll be making it a little more of a regular deal. The outdoor seating is nice with the weather we get on the central coast. They have a fire pit as well and blankets for colder nights. The decór is great and inviting and the place overall has a good feel to it. We ordered a glass of wine and a mango chili margarita to start. Our drinks were brought out by Cesar, along with some things to munch on and some water. The attention to detail was great and the fact we were constantly checked up on, even though we just got drinks, made it a very pleasant experience. The margarita was delicious and my wife loved the wine recommendation from Cesar. We'll definitely be stopping by for a charcuterie board and more drinks. The absolute BEST location to visit the original Hitching Post steakhouse! The room was very nice with a small balcony with a calming view of hills. It is a very small property, but happily has an elevator for their two story boutique hotel.The complimentary wine service as we arrived was a very nice touch. Awful experience, understaffed, my front desk person was bartending at the same time. We got in our room and later that day we took a bath and my bathroom flooded, all the way to the hallway. We had to use all our towels to dry it up. I asked for a partial refund for the inconvenience and they out right refused. Me and my wife chose this inn because we wanted to support a local mom and pop business and we were getting married in Santa Maria. We found this place via Chase travel so we thought we would love to do a nice romantic getaway from the city. The property and the quality of the room and the overall experience is not worth the price they charge! We got to our room the first night to take a shower and the bathroom was flooding under what we could have thought was cheap lazy engineering. Thankfully they offered to relocate us to a new upstairs room but we had to gather all our belongings for the staff to move them, all our clothes and intimates not exactly what I expected the day before me and my wife take our vows. It took me a while and I was dreading to post this review because I was trying to get my Chase travel merchant correct my misadventure but nothing ever came of it. Next time save the money and stay at the Hiltons or Best western. This is my first ever negative review on a place. I don't like doing it but this time I wasn't satisfied especially on the most important day of my my life. read more

We visited Orcutt because we were participating on the $100 giveaway which is really nothing but it gave us a reason to visit Santa Maria as we always by pass it and instead we go to Pismo Beach or Paso Robles. Out of all the hotels we decided to try Wine Stone Inn and I'm so glad we did. It's a charming inn with cute decor but most of all the best hospitality service you will get. Everyone and I mean everyone goes out of their way to ensure your comfort and your needs are met. They also greet you with a glass of champagne which is so nice to have after a long drive. I was actually worried about the thin walls reported in other reviews but to be honest it's not bad at all, after talking to Lauren they apparently sound proofed during CovID times so they corrected that which was awesome. They listened to their clientele. They have free happy hour every day and they have a pretty good selection. The breakfast is also great, i loved their banana muffin omg so good! The inn is located within walking distance of some of the shops, breweries and restaurants albeit not many as most closed down due to CovID. Nevertheless, if you are looking to explore other areas in Santa Maria, Pismo Beach or nearby towns or just relax and do nothing but watch Netflix this place is just the perfect spot. They have a small bar with a good wine selection and small bites nothing fancy but good enough to enjoy while enjoying one of their fire pit tables outside. Wow, this hotel and its amenities are truly too good to be true!!! THE BEST PART: managers reception is 4-6pm every day?! (I think). With it comes free BOTTOMLESS wine and beer, and snacks! We tragically missed night 1 of the managers reception during our two-night stay because we got there around 7:30pm, and we didn't know about it beforehand. We honestly came to Santa Maria because my friend got one of the $100 gift cards as part of a town promotion for tourism and to help local small businesses. We were visiting from San Francisco. Lol I honestly had no expectations and was here for a chill getaway. My friend chose this hotel, and it's really one of the best I've ever stayed in! First off, the staff is always wearing masks and they have safety precautions in place. They give each guest a welcome glass of champagne at check-in - hell yes!! Congrats, you made it! Lol. We had a cute, clean, and spacious room. Everything had a chic look to it and they really put thought into all the touches and gifts inside the room. Inside the room, they provide a free SNACK BASKET with cheese, beef jerky, crackers, chips, and life waters. There's a mini fridge, TV with Netflix/cable, and soft, luxurious bathrobes! Our room had a king bed and a small balcony. They give you little breakfast ordering sheets and you can choose from a variety of pastries, yogurt, coffee, teas, juices, and fruit for every morning of your stay - and you can also indicate the time you want breakfast served to your door! As we were part of the gift card tourists, we got this white envelope with our gift card, and a guide and map to the area! From the guide, I learned about some local spots to check out! Like Oso Flaco Lake and The Luffa Farm - lol who knew!? (I RECOMMEND THESE SPOTS.) Little Central Cali gems up in here!!! Anyway!! The hotel even wrote a handwritten card thanking us for staying there. I'm sure they do it for everyone as I saw someone else mention that in their review. They put my friend's last name on the card - such a thoughtful gesture. The front desk ladies were always super sweet and friendly. During the managers reception which I wanna call Hotel Happy Hour, Nes took really good care of us. Outside there are tables with fire pits and heat lamps! Hotel guests can also sit inside. The hotel is in a very small and charming town. Across the street is Naughty Oak Brewing - great name lol. I really enjoyed a quick stop by this kombucha spot behind the brewery as well. Hmmm, where do I start? With the positives. Nice receptionist checked us in. Bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and quiet (located on the outskirts of old town, but walking distance to the bars and restaurants, a plus). The complimentary snack basket was nice. While the kettle corn was horribly stale, the tortilla chips made up for them. For the continental breakfast, although it was sparse, the fresh fruit was beautifully displayed and they offered greek yogurt. NEGATIVES: We live on the Central Coast but we were there for a wine event and didn't want to drink and drive, so we splurged on a $250 room. For that I expect more than a Best Western. Upon entering Room 5, we felt as though we were in Nebraska. I'm in my 60s and don't often get cold, but it was freezing! There was a simple $15 thermostat which operated a very old wall unit. We checked cords, controls, etc.; it simply would not power on. We had arrived early to enjoy the room and relax before going to the event, but there was no way that was possible. We called the front desk and were told, "Oh, yeah, that heater has been on the fritz. I'll bring up the space heater." The receptionist was the only one on duty, so 20 min. later, she brings it up and tells us that there is a larger one (this one was very small, like for a small bathroom) that she will bring up when someone else comes on duty. The time came to leave for the event, which we gladly did because we were both still so cold. We came back to the room two hours later, and the larger heater never arrived. The next morning I talked to the morning receptionist about the issue, requesting some compensation. I was told because we booked it through a third-party, we had to call them. They would then call the management, and she reassured us that we would receive some form of compensation. I called our third-party a few days later. It took her a couple of days to connect with the manager; but when she did, the management told her that there was nothing wrong with the heater! The manager completely denied our claim and could give us no discount. Let me also mention that before I booked, I did see a review from last fall on the travel website I typically use for reviews that mentioned a broken a/c and how unhappy they were with their stay. Love the bar in this quaint hotel in Old Orcutt. The customer service is consistently impressive, the wines available are great, too. Wine Bingo on Wednesdays is super fun, for sure recommend this spot! read more
