We had an excellent experience at slack water in the riverwoods. Our server got us everything we needed. The service was quick they took care of our large party! Slackwater does pizza like no one else.their interesting combinations and their monthly specials keep my coming back. It's my personal favorite pizza spot in Utah. They servers are so busy and don't check in as much as other places but I'm keeping in mind that this is a new establishment and honestly I dont want my server to check on me often. I had previously left a review a week ago for this restaurant and took it down after speaking to the owner directly. After giving it some thought I'd like to repost. 1. The food here is amazing. Blake has created a great menu with delicious food. Unique to anything else available in the area 2. The Owner Blake is a stud. The business he's built is impressive and you can tell he's passionate about what he does. I really like Blake 3. In MY experience the general manager Dave is an unstable individual who escalates situations that are seemingly non issues. For example: he decided to open the garage doors at the restaurant on November 1st at 8pm. It was 52 degrees outside. Objectively cold. When we asked if we could have the doors closed, he shouted at us that he would not be closing the doors because we were the only ones who've complained. This also wasn't true. Even if it was true, we were still patrons complaining about eating our food in a 50 degree restaurant. Seems obvious to close the doors. Dave then called us dicks, removed our food from our hands against our will, kicked us out and threatened to call the police. I understand there are difficult people who will not be satisfied no matter how hard you try. We are not those people. It was 50 degrees outside and we asked kindly if the doors could be closed. Blake, the point is simple, rather than Dave admitting he had a bad moment and overreacted, he lied to you. Over something so small. Ask yourself, if he'd lie to you over something so inconsequential, what will he lie about when there are larger consequences? Not the type of person you'd want in charge of a restaurant, money, and other employees. The other point of irritation is that your response painted us to be aggressors and bullies towards the wait staff. This was not the case. We enjoyed our waiter and friends with the hostesses father. We at no point called anyone names. We were polite and reasonable in our requests. Unfortunately, I feel unsafe dining at your delicious restaurant again due to Dave's volatile and unpredictable behavior. If Dave wants to admit he overreacted and lied about what we said then great, I can move on and forgive him. We are all humans. But if he doubles down on his lies, it's no skin off my back. I'm not the one carrying the risk by employing someone like Dave. read more

To the Owner: You've opened a new restaurant in a small community, and your General Manager, Dave, is already destroying your reputation. He's aggressive, intimidating, and completely out of control. His steroid built muscles match his attitude: angry, volatile, and unprofessional. I have never seen a bigger display of arrogance or lack of composure in a manager. Worst of all he is a liar, plain and simple. But I'm sure you already know all of this. I actually love your restaurant, but Dave will cost you everything in this city. Like I said, it's a small community and word travels fast. Dave us a waddling liability for your brand and a genuine threat to both your employees and the community. I could see the fear in your staff's eyes, especially the women. They looked terrified of him, and for good reason. Mind you, this was all in public. I would hate to see what he is like in private with females. You need to investigate him immediately. He literally discriminated against a person in a wheelchair and came dangerously close to assault. We'll be speaking with attorneys to determine what legal action we can take. read more

I came to Slackware again tonight. Delicious food alway! I always get the "check you garlic mount" garlic bread it is uninsurable with a ricotta toooing to add. Everything is homemade and you can taste the difference here. Tonight I got the "CaliforniaSunrise" pizza and added shrimp! Perfect and delicious. Darrell was my server again! He is so sweet and I feel like family there. The vibe is great. You feel like family. Big portions with plenty to take home! I highly suggest going and get a reservation. The secret is out! Wow the manager at this location (DAVE) just yelled at customers and kicked them out in the store for being too cold because they left the garages open. He was very threatening. It's a November night and freezing. EVERYONE was freezing. He took it way over the top and ruined everyone's night. Outrageous. This is unacceptable behavior. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. We walked in and were immediately told there was an hour wait, despite multiple empty tables clearly visible. When we asked about those seats, we were told they were "reserved." That raised a red flag because this exact location has previously told us they do not take reservations on weekends. When we pointed that out, the staff had no response--just blank stares. One of them went to get the manager, Kris. From the moment she arrived, she was rude, dismissive, and completely uninterested in helping. No explanation, no attempt to clarify the contradiction, no effort to de-escalate or accommodate. Just attitude. What makes this worse: before coming in, we specifically checked Yelp's wait-time estimator, which showed zero wait. That was clearly not even remotely accurate. When we mentioned this, the response was essentially shrugged off. The manager's solution? "So do you want to wait?" After initially saying an hour, the "best she could do" suddenly became 30 minutes, which only further highlights how arbitrary and disorganized the whole situation was. This wasn't about not getting a table--it was about poor communication, inconsistent policies, and outright bad management. If Slackwater isn't going to honor or even loosely align with the wait times they publish on Yelp, they shouldn't use the feature at all. And if a manager can't manage a simple, reasonable customer interaction without being rude, that's a leadership problem. Plenty of restaurants manage busy nights with professionalism. This was not one of them. We left and won't be back. read more

There was a lot of confusion and frustration with their waitlist on the weekend. And the hostesses were extremely rude. They were talking about customers at the front desk--my group in particular even though the only thing we had asked them was how much longer the wait would be for our group as we had been sitting at position 1 for 40 minutes. And they had sat other bigger groups before seating ours. But I could hear them complaining and talking extremely rude about our group and how we wouldn't stop bugging them and that it's ridiculous that we were being annoying. We were extremely patient and it felt like a slap to the face that I heard them talking about us even though we gave them no grief. One of my favorite places in town. The selection of beverages is simply magical. Of course, one yearns for more options for more on draft, but they do the best they can within the constraints of the state. The bottles more than make up for it. The food is a consistent delight with specials that change every month. Among the most distinctive and unusual pizzas that you can get anywhere, but also with a list of fairly standard toppings if that's your preference. The staff are wonderful. The head manager, Dave, runs a tight ship over there. We've rarely, if ever, encountered any issues. Our waiters and waitresses are always friendly. If you haven't been, I don't know what you're waiting for! This is the place I've always wanted to come here. read more
