We drove over an hour to dine here after hearing great things--and the food truly did live up to the hype. Every dish we tried was flavorful and well-executed, and the wine selection was excellent. Our server was friendly and professional, which we appreciated. That said, a few details in the service left the overall experience feeling a bit underwhelming, especially for a first-time visit. Bread was served before water service, and we had to specifically ask for the cocktail and wine menu instead of it being offered when seated. For a restaurant with such a reputation, we also expected a bit more of a warm welcome or introduction--especially regarding the restaurant's history, which we were curious about but had to ask ourselves. We were also celebrating a birthday and mentioned it in advance, but there wasn't any special acknowledgment, seating consideration, or dessert gesture, which would've elevated the occasion. Overall, the food and wine made it worth the trip, but with a few tweaks to the guest experience--especially for newcomers or special celebrations--it could've been truly exceptional.

Amazing grilled goat cheese with roasted red bell pepper pesto, seriously get this!!

Everything from beginning to end was spectacular, we started with free bread and water, then a glass of wine for me and a Shiner Bock for my husband with a cold mug . Our waitress Ashley came over with her trainee, and they were both really nice. Next we oreder the grilled goat cheese with roasted red bell pepper pesto, this was to die for!! My hubby got the 26oz ribeye with peppercorn sauce and it was cooked perfectly. At home he always gives me the middle part, otherwise known as the fillet, and I got the in house made mozzarella salad with the basil balsamic vinaigrette, we shared everything. We didn't leave room for dessert, but next time I think we'll start with that lol. All in all it was a pretty amazing way to celebrate our 12tg wedding anniversary. I honestly can't think of one bad thing to say

The food and service have always been top notch here. I have seen some reviews about getting in and you will need to make a reservation especially if you're coming on a Friday or Saturday. I have not had much luck with the open door app but I usually call 2 to 3 months ahead and make reservations. I have tried before to call about 2 too 3 weeks out but could not get the time or date wanted. We have been coming every year on our anniversary for about 15 years. Again very well worth the trip food is always the great and the view is wonderful.

Enjoyed a great evening with my spouse today for his birthday. Service was amazing and food was excellent. Call ahead for reservation.

We came here for a work trip dinner on a Wednesday night at 7. The place is remote and has a cute rustic vibe. It was recommended and they said we must make reservations. I have no idea why as 45 minutes into dinner we were the last ones in the place and they closed at 10. It ended up being a two hour dinner as the service was very slow. The goat cheese appetizer was great and everyone liked the onion rings as well. I got the steak salad and the steak was cooked perfect and had a great blue cheese balsamic dressing. I did ask for it on the side as it is tossed. The rest of the salad wasn't great. The tomato's was like two Hal's of a whole big tomato. Could have been cut up. The cheesecake for dessert with the chocolate dressing was a must have. This place is nice for the area as there aren't many upscale options. But it wasn't as amazing as I thought it would be. The prices are good for what is it.

Is everything ordered ala carte or do they have packaged meals to choose?

Most all are a la carte. The sides are large portions and generous enough for two to four people.

I wish it came accompanied by stuff I wanted to eat, but that was fine. Cario, the bartender, took great care of me while I ate. The espresso martini he made was phenomenal! The restaurant was practically empty, so we sat in the bar/lounge area. The host and other staff were friendly. Our waiter came off a little smug at first and barely cracked a smile. He honestly seemed a bit annoyed that he had to wait on us, which felt very unfriendly. My friend managed to get him to loosen up a bit as the night went on though, so maybe that's just his personality. To his credit, he was very informative when it came to the main course options. The lighting was dim and intimate. Ambiance was simple and modern. I ordered the sea bass and my friend ordered the beef Wellington. Honestly, after tasting my fish, he ended up enjoying my sea bass more than his own dish. The sea bass was like butter, just as the waiter described it. If fish could fall off the bone, this one would have. It came with rice, cashews, and a ginger miso sauce. The cashews added a really nice crunch and texture and the flavors worked really well together. I thoroughly enjoyed it as b the only downside was the portion size. Like a lot of nicer restaurants, you get one small piece of fish... about the size of my pinky finger. My friend's beef Wellington, on the other hand, was just okay. He didn't say it was bad, but it definitely didn't stand out, especially compared to the sea bass. We also ordered potatoes as a side and the white truffle Caesar salad. The salad was good and the truffle flavor wasn't overpowering, which I appreciated. The potatoes were solid too and paired well with the meal. Dessert, unfortunately, was not it! We ordered the Wicked Sundae. Our waiter had actually recommended the banana pudding or the chocolate tart, but we decided to try something else. We probably should've taken his advice. The sundae tasted mostly like ice cream and was missing the main part of the dish -- the brownie. Nothing to run home about, and it also happened to be the most expensive dessert on the menu. Definitely not worth it.

The steak was the juiciest and most tender one I have ever had, so definitely worth the money. The house salad was great too, better than most sad salads elsewhere, lol. Wow! This was truly one of the best steaks I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The appetizers,…read moredeviled eggs and bacon-wrapped shrimp, were good. The Caesar salad was good, traditional, fresh, and the correct size. The garlic mashed potatoes were good. But the wagyu NY strip was just incredible. It was almost black on the outside and just warm on the inside, a perfect rare as wagyu beef should be. The meat was unctuous and delicious without being greasy or fatty. It was so richly umami flavorful, perfectly seasoned. It was just an excellent steak. The bourbon bread pudding was a huge serving and wonderfully flavorful. There was some nice bread to go with the meal too. The smoked old fashioned cocktail before dinner was excellent. And I got a nice Cabernet that perfectly paired with the steak. Our server was casual but friendly with a good balance of hospitality and service. This was truly a great dinner and one of the best steaks I've ever had... and all of this in Ennis, Texas. Seating is not ideally comfortable for a one and a half to two hour dinner, ambience is not too loud, but not exactly leaning on the side of anything remotely formal. Good for groups, good if you like steak....I will say if you like steak that is overcooked with a 1/2inch burned crust and very salty. Was excited to try the wagyu filet but it was overdone and impossible to enjoy the tenderness when you had to bite through so much burnt. Noticed that they serve a crème brûlée, and unfortunately, it did not live up to it its hype: I received a oval dish about 6 inches long that had a smidge over - I kid you not - a quarter an inch of crème brûlée, including the soggy caramelized crust. When I ran my spoon from one end of the dish to the other, it barely filled up half the utensil - it was rather saddening. Now I am the kind of person that believes in at least a "two times whack" with the bottom of the spoon in order to break the lovely caramel crust on top of a crème brûlée; this poor little dessert was not even thick enough for the spoon to rest upon the crème brûlée without it sinking to the bottom of the dish instantly. Positive notes, our waitress was a little misinformed on the menu, she might've been new and so that was not her fault as she did well in trying to accommodate our party of three - one who is particularly hard of hearing - and their Caesar salad was average, but nothing outstanding, along with the potatoes and brussels sprouts we got along alongside the meal. All this being said, if you like a variety of big pieces of overcooked salted meat with a thick crust, this is the place for you.
