Fantastic and not a lot of flair. First to make reservations get ready it's about a 2 month wait. But so worth it. This place is not big hence the wait and the scenery is wonderful. It's a steak place and they know it's good. The menu is not big,the sides are mostly family style, and the cocktails are superb. We tried the escargot, onion rings, crab cakes,goat cheese and Cesar salad appetizers(there were six of us). Every single one was great. The ones who got steak said best they have had( they are total meat guys), the salmon was good a bit over too my taste but think that's how they do it, and the chicken was great as well. Everything from beginning to end was spectacular, we started with free bread and water, then a glass of wine for me and a Shiner Bock for my husband with a cold mug . Our waitress Ashley came over with her trainee, and they were both really nice. Next we oreder the grilled goat cheese with roasted red bell pepper pesto, this was to die for!! My hubby got the 26oz ribeye with peppercorn sauce and it was cooked perfectly. At home he always gives me the middle part, otherwise known as the fillet, and I got the in house made mozzarella salad with the basil balsamic vinaigrette, we shared everything. Called this place twice. Both times 40 min before they opened. I asked to reserve a table, and both times they were booked for the entire night. They say they participate in open door reservations app. So I attempted to make a reservation for the following night. My wife and I were wanting to eat here to celebrate our 20th anniversary. But the app never worked. So either this place is so good. They book up completely before it even opens, or the person answering the phone is an A$$ hole. May never know. The food and service have always been top notch here. I have seen some reviews about getting in and you will need to make a reservation especially if you're coming on a Friday or Saturday. I have not had much luck with the open door app but I usually call 2 to 3 months ahead and make reservations. I have tried before to call about 2 too 3 weeks out but could not get the time or date wanted. We have been coming every year on our anniversary for about 15 years. I have no idea why as 45 minutes into dinner we were the last ones in the place and they closed at 10. It ended up being a two hour dinner as the service was very slow. The goat cheese appetizer was great and everyone liked the onion rings as well. I got the steak salad and the steak was cooked perfect and had a great blue cheese balsamic dressing. I did ask for it on the side as it is tossed. The rest of the salad wasn't great. The tomato's was like two Hal's of a whole big tomato. Could have been cut up. The cheesecake for dessert with the chocolate dressing was a must have. This place is nice for the area as there aren't many upscale options. But it wasn't as amazing as I thought it would be. The boss lady had the ribeye, which was really tender. Boss lady's friend had the grilled chicken breast; she said it was good. Her man had the sirloin, which he ruined by ordering it well done (I can't believe we're friends!) The sides; glazed carrots (just ok), creamed corn (good), mushrooms and onions (delicious), and the potatoes au gratin were cut into chuncks not sliced in thin rounds, so they were slightly undercooked and under seasoned...SALT people....for the love all things flavorful...salt your potatoes! Bought a bottle of wine...Cosmic Pinot Nior...very nice! Creme brule (very good) and chocolate moose (too dence, but tasty) Overall, it was an "Okay" experience, but I doubt we'll be back. read more

Absolutely wonderful! We celebrated our 28th anniversary at Four Winds. From beginning to end our experience was top notch. This is a 'relaxed upscale' restaurant. Every (and I mean EVERY) employee was very friendly, helpful and ensured our dinner was amazing. We enjoyed fresh-baked bread with REAL butter, crab cakes, pork chops, chicken fried beef tenderloin (cream gravy is my love language and theirs had me considering asking Santa for a vat just for myself), potatoes au gratin, creamed spinach, and bread pudding with ice cream. White tablecloths without feeling stuffy at all. Some folks dressed up and some were more casual, like us. Everyone was welcome. We happened to be staying close by for our anniversary but would 100% be willing to make the 2 hour drive just to enjoy dining here. We were wanting to meet some friends who were in from Louisianan for the Canton First Friday Trade Days and found this place online. We called to see if they could seat 4 of us but they were completely booked. They then called me back about 15 mins later to say they had a cancellation and could get us in. So glad they did! Great ambiance and the food was great! We had the fried oysters for an appetizer. They were cooked perfectly! We had Cesar salad (Yum!) and the 10oz filet mignon with creamed spinach and potatoes au gratin. Everything was cooked perfectly! And, the waitstaff were attentive and did not rush us at all. Was quite excited to try this place based on the reviews, but sadly disappointed. It was quite a trek (1.5 hours/way) for us, but you never know if you'll like something if you don't try it! Firstly, reservations can ONLY be made by calling, which is slightly inconvenient. Due to their hours, I kept forgetting. We arrived and were seated promptly, which was nice. The ambiance was very old school steakhouse with literally nothing but wood on every wall. It was fine. They brought out some incredibly warm bread to snack on, which was nice prior to ordering. We ordered the crab cake app and despite my initial hesitation of the orange mustard cream sauce, I was pleasantly surprised. The crab cakes were moist and the sauce provided the perfect amount of citrus in each bite. My husband ordered a house salad that came with honeyed pecans, which made for a delightful pre-din treat. Entrees; I ordered the fried jumbo shrimp with steak fries. The shrimp was crispy as expected, however the steak fries were a HARD pass. They were absolutely huge and what I thought were not fully cooked through, probably due to the size. They tasted like mushy bland potatoes, despite being relatively crisp on the outside. I don't know how that's possible. Even the next day in the air fryer, they were still meh. Tasted like there was no crystal of seasoning. I'd give it a 2/5 because I like shrimp. My husband ordered the 26 oz bone-in ribeye with a side of au gratin potatoes and glazed carrots. Let me just say my hopes were crushed with this dish. He ordered it medium rare, but let me tell you, that steak came out so rare I thought it was going to moo. The middle part of the steak was slightly less than medium rare, but to send it back and come out with an overdone steak was not worth the risk. Also, not a lick of salt on that thing. There wasn't salt on the table either, so he just kind of ate only a few pieces, knowing he'd cook it to the perfect temp and flavor for leftovers the next day. The sides, oh the sides! The au gratin potatoes only tasted cheesy, no salt, pepper, garlic, nothing, just cheese. Also, they were chunks of potatoes not thinly sliced potatoes, if that makes sense. I was a little disappointed seeing baby carrots for whatever reason. It wasn't much of a glaze on them, but rather a sweet liquid. I could only really taste the sweetness, so I didn't eat too many of those. Overall, the service was good, however I would NOT make that drive again for anything on the menu. You might get lucky if you call for weekday reservation, but Friday and Saturday are going to need you plan for. They are truly off the beaten path, a turn off to go down a dark road to the parking lot. It's a relatively small restaurant, not close to big city and worth the effort to get there. I do believe that they have space dedicated for larger parties and group dinners. It has a very rustic feel, very high ceiling and for some table look out onto their pond. It's not noisy, but not quiet, so you can talk and be heard, but you do hear the buzz of other conversations. Candles on all the tables, but lighting was somewhat dim. The service was slow, but fitting for the type of meal you are going for here. The servers were ever present, so there was a constant path of servers in an out of the kitchen. Our server explained the menu, offered the off menu items they had for the night and another brought out bread and water immediately after we were seated. The bread (wheat and white) was very good, nice crust, thin and crispy with the inside soft, bread, goodness. They have a variety on the menu, with Steak al a carte, but other items included sides with the entrees. We went for Steak, NY Strip, however the did have a 24 oz. Porterhouse, which I was tempted by. The Steak was cooked perfectly medium all the way through, it was clearly rested as it should be before making its way to the table. It was tender as well. It is salt and pepper crusted, and for me was perfect, but for some may be a little saltier than they'd like. We ordered Au Gratin Potatoes, but they not traditional thin sliced potatoes, they are rough cut potato chunks, skin on, with some sauce and covered in cheese. I loved them! We also had Creamed Corn, again, not traditional, but really good sweet corn, not quite creamed. We also had the Bread Pudding, brought to the table steaming hot, with a wonderful sauce. It was amazing! The atmosphere is casual, so you can wear your jeans or you can put on your best dress clothes, either fit here. The food was wonderful with an amazing Steak that exceeded my expectations. The service, while slower paced, was friendly and you had what you needed when you needed it. My family and I have been here many times. Its a great place to meet our DFW friends. The setting is beautiful, get there early so you can enjoy the views. The staff are long-time employees, most have been there for many years and they provide wonderful attentive service. They know the menu selections and specials by heart and can help with special requests. The bar is well-appointed with featured specialty cocktails. The feel is up scale country; there are lots of cowboy hats, boots, and starched shirts on the fellas and women are dressed in everything from stylish jeans to fun dresses. I've seen business dinners, family celebrations, and lots of prom/homecoming nights, and Ive always seen smiles. Our favorite waitress in Taylor, she has always offered great advice and provided excellent service. We will continue to go over and over again. read more

We got green beans and au gratin potatoes as our side, we weren't much of a fan of them. They weren't bad, but I really wish the potatoes would have been sliced and not chunked. We will try different sides next time, so many told us to get the creamed corn after. For drinks, I had a Pomtini and it was perfect! I'm so glad I ended up getting it.
