IMO- my dining experience depends greatly on the server. Fortunately, our food was great! We had the jumbo shrimp and crawfish which were perfectly seasoned and drinks. The drinks are never short on alcohol but what made our experience really stand out was the exceptional service. Our server, Lindsey, was incredible! It was a busy Friday night and she had, what I thought, were too many tables. Despite how packed it was, Lindsey kept our drinks full, remembered every extra request while also staying friendly and upbeat the entire time with all her tables. We could actually hear the others talking about how great she was and how she was "killin it and didn't miss a thing". We're definitely going back for more of their amazing shrimp, crawfish and drinks--and hope we are lucky enough to have the great service we had last time. read more

We were celebrating 2 birthdays at lunch today. The restaurant was not full, in fact no wait, arrived at 12:30pm. We got seated immediately and our drink and food orders were taken right away. We settled in and caught up a bit, then four out of the five orders were delivered to our table. Then we waited and our server assured us that it was going to be out shortly. Come to find out, the order was never placed with the rest of the table and the birthday lady had to wait another 15 minutes for chicken fajitas?!?! Wow, not a word from management, so needless to say we were very disappointed and the festive mood was ruined. They did not offer to comp her lunch. After another 15 minute wait it was packaged togo with a disgruntled manager giving a 50% discount on the fajitas. The manager never came to the table to apologize, the birthday lady had to go talk to the manager to ask for a discount for her meal. What is wrong with the management? We have eaten at Tia Juanita's Fish Camp 3 times. All three times have been very good! We have had good service and even though the place is packed, they still get you taken care of! We have had the salmon, fried fish and fried shrimp. They were all good. Today we had the grilled chicken salad and the steak nachos. Let's start with the salad. It is huge!! Great grilled chicken, boiled eggs, cucumbers, carrots, tomato, red onion, avocado, cheese and bacon. Had the jalapeño ranch dressing! Very, very good! The grilled steak nachos came on a tostada, beans, cheese, guacamole and sour cream! Just get them!! There are so many things to look at on the wall! I wonder where they got it all? This place is amazing! Everything that I have had is been excellent except the seafood gumbo. It is definitely not New Orleans. I think they add kitchen magic sauce, which is an off taste they need to leave that out. It would be 100% improvement. Everything else is absolutely delicious. read more

Hubby & I have been 3 times ~ service was pretty good except one time we went at nite. The music was so loud we couldn't even hear. The boudin balls are amazing! We get at the least 4 when we go! The fish is ok...hubby had salmon & wasn't a fan of the sauce on it. I did like the shrimp. The sides were ok. It is a nice addition to the choices that we have in Athens. Jenni at the front is an amazing hostess & also Savannah the waitress. They had lots of suggestions since it was our first time. Parking was hard. I've heard they don't do to go? Well, we have now given this 3 tries and think we are done. At first I just thought we ordering the wrong thing but apparently not. Their shrimp is not fresh and it has no flavor. Shrimp need to be fresh and taste like shrimp. It is a cajun fish camp so this is a major flaw. I had it fried and it was flavorless and tough. I had it in a po boy and again, no flavor. I had the gumbo and it was ok but not memorable. My husband said the grilled chicken salad is decent. Just not the New Orleans quality of flavor here we were hoping for. Bad Service!! I ordered the blacken redfish no shrimp, no sauce no veggies, no salad. They charged me full price. I talked to the manager Kieth I ask if I ordered extra shrimp would I be charged extra & he said yes then why would I not get $3.00 off for no shrimp. He had no answer. Bad customer service. I am a recent widow & have a hard time eating anyway I was so upset I couldn't eat any of it 30.00 wasted. Shame on this establishment. I will never eat here again. Stopped by after a nail appointment for lunch on a Tuesday with my daughter. The place is super welcoming and decorated with a "Cajun" type twist. Reminds me a bit of Razzoo's. We were seated quickly and service was great! I ordered an espresso martini, which was delicious! We ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. They were phenomenal! The bacon sauce that it comes with is out of this world! My daughter had the popcorn shrimp basket with fries. The shrimp was delicious and the fries were cooked perfectly! I had the shrimp tacos with charro beans. I added mango salsa on the side. All was very good! The only con is the price. The fried green tomatoes were $11. Again, they were very good! My shrimp tacos were $15. The mango salsa was an additional $3, which is a bit pricey to me. Personally, I feel like it should be included with the fish and shrimp taco baskets. They only come with a tiny side of regular salsa. All in all, we will likely be back to try other menu options. Definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area! read more

When it first opened it was amazing. We have been on several occasions that they have been out of oysters, as well as crawfish. I feel like the management has changed or just lack of management. Food was the worst. We got chips and queso. Queso was mealy. Weird. I tasted chili powder only. And when you get chips and queso they don't serve any salsa. I think I would have preferred queso out of a can....or is that what it was just burnt?!?!? Shrimp basket had no flavor cardboard. Hush puppies cardboard. Nachos Grande was a ton of chips with drippings of meat cheese lettuce and tomatoes. Etc The way they do it makes it appear as if you are getting a lot of good food. But it's really 85% chips. I'm always fearful when a successful restaurant develops into multiple outlets; it seems the magic seldom makes it onto the train. Great atmosphere, great service did make it, however. The fried shrimp were fairly good, but the Mexican shrimp cocktail was unfortunate. Biting into one of the tiny shrimp was like biting into an eraser. One must wonder if they actually taste the food they prepare? It's such a simple dish; all you have to do to is use f.r.e.s.h shrimp! It was, alas, beyond redemption, so back it went. Food has been good. Cocktails are good. Service is very mediocre, takes forever to have order taken. Food then takes forever to get out of the kitchen. At 330 in the afternoon it shouldn't take an hour for two people. But it seems to take that long every time. Food is good enough I will continue to give it another chance. Watch the fish tacos. My husband and I are not from here. We travel all over the world and This place was a hit!!!! Food was good, lots of choices, real seafood, not hungry for that you can get Mexican and there margaritas were amazing. Lots of floors to choose from and their oysters were the best. If i could give this place 10 stars I would it has the best food in town from the Mexican food to the seafood all around is so good every single thing I have ordered off the menu has been amazing. They do stay quite busy but it is worth the wait. We have had Vanessa several times as our waitress and she is very attentive. The waitress was very sweet and the atmosphere was nice but the margaritas did not give a bit of a buzz and were very watery. The nachos were the kind that were chips piled up and cheese drizzled over them so that the chips got very soggy before barely having time to eat them. A super rip off and disappointing experience. Live music is nice. Of course it is hit or miss for the quality, but it has been good 3 out of 4 times we've visited in the past 4 weeks. Waitstaff has been great every time but bar staff not as much. Actually the waitstaff is probably the BEST thing about this place. Difficult to get a drink at the bar when you are waiting 30 minutes for a table. Food is typical Sysco, nothing original. Grilled seafood was a huge disappointment. Way over-cooked and probably on a flat top. The redfish was supposed to be great---it wasn't. Cooked too long. Bacon wrapped shrimp was possibly the worst I've ever eaten...crispy bacon and dried shrimp....garbage. Grilled oysters: Someone needs a lesson on cleaning oysters. They were so full of shell and sand we could not eat them. There is definitely ZERO quality control in the kitchen. There is no way anyone tasted the food, checked the quality of the fish or shrimp, or looked for cleaned oyster shells. Waiter suggested fajitas. Ugh. If you know how fajitas should look, taste, and smell DO NOT order them here. Beef fajitas were probably cooked on same flat top where they destroyed a good redfish filet. Beef had no flavor, no grill marks, and not tender at all. It looked like boiled meat covered in oily onions and bell peppers. This would be a good place to take a few friends to hear a musician you knew, have a few overpriced frozen margaritas, and laugh and talk for an hour. Maybe you will enjoy a few appetizers, but you will not enjoy a good dinner. The only thing Tia Juanita's has going for them is lack of competition.
