Dainty eaters need not apply. This is an elbows on the table all in kind of place. The burgers are massive! And delicious. They have a great selection and you can have beef, turkey or even salmon. They have chicken wings. We went for the Slauson burger and the Wild Wild West burger with fries. They have an assortment of can and bottled drinks including CBD water which I didnt know was a thing. Went to Slauson Grill today, a spot I've passed many times but never felt drawn to enter. It's not a restaurant as such, though there is a single line of seats at the windows, and I did eat there comfortably. Staff were friendly, the place clean, basically serving burgers and grilled sandwiches. I got their Islander burger with pineapple and Swiss cheese, served hot and fresh -- smash burger style, it was much better than expected. * Ignore the burger picture, it doesn't do the actual fillings justice... The service was quick and it was pretty empty when i went and wasn't too loud. Parking is very awkward so street parking would be ideal. My oh my is Orleans & York I place I saw and knew I immediately had to try. Took a trip out on a Saturday afternoon to see what it was all about, and let me tell you all about it. First, parking is a bit of an issue in this lot as it shares it with many other great businesses. We got lucky and found a spot pretty easily. We ordered Dirty Fries, Hot Brooklyn and a Big Mo. The dirty fries have so much flavor, like every single bite. It is so easy to over eat these because they're heaven sent. My sandwich was the Hot Brooklyn, and off tops I don't remember what's in it but it was actually perfect. Every bite was loaded with meat. The Big Mo was a signature Po Boy and did the job and satisfied cravings. The dessert looked too good to pass up so I did save room and it was worth it! So decadent. They also forgot to provide forks and napkins and so forth. It was a 160 dollar order so you would think they'd be more on top of it. The gumbo with beef, chicken and shrimp was greasy and oily and not much flavor. This ain't New Orleans gumbo by any stretch of the imagination. This was a 20 something dollar item. Will not order again. The chicken wings were flavorless and oily as well. I also didn't have any ranch or dipping sauces for them. Avoid this dish. You can get tastier wings at the store. The French fries were okay. They were soft and mushy. Peach cobbler was nice. Bread pudding was more of a cake than pudding. Would not get again. They forgot my sweet potato cake. Man!!!!! MOLD in corn bread with glaze. Purchased yesterday evening. Called to let them know, and was told if I didn't refrigerate it then mold can happen. Fresh baked goods unrefrigerated will NOT mold less than 24hrs from purchase. So I probably bought it molded without noticing yesterday. Either way they could've easily offered to replace it or something accommodating. Not just brush off there's mold growing in their food from yesterday!
