If you're a burger lover like me, Slay is the spot! Finally made it here, and wow, Slay nailed it. Juicy, cheesy, perfectly meaty with a soft bun and toppings spilling out the sides. This is the kind of burger that makes you want to take a nap afterward and I did. Slay is absolutely a Brookland Park staple. Everything about it screams indulgence, so maybe not an everyday thing unless you're okay with putting on a few extra pounds. Totally worth it for a treat. Slay is all that and a bag of chips.

If you love a good chicken sandwich, this one needs to be in your rotation. It was that good. The burgers looked just as solid--I'll be back to try a smash burger and report back.

Hmmm, all in all, a bit underwhelming... -- Slay Burger (no pickles, no onions): Incredibly delicious. No complaints. I usually opt for double patties when it comes to smash burgers but one was sufficient. -- Corn Dog Nuggets: Breading is tasty but the dogs were dry and rubbery. They were too hot for the styrofoam, so I'd suggest a different container. You get two freebie sauces, but one of mine was missing. -- Waffle Fries: For $3.49, you don't get much. They visually appeared more seasoned than they tasted. Also, lukewarm. Not too hot for the styrofoam, unfortunately. -- Wings: They have plain wings on their menu which is what I ordered. You get a freebie sauce, but I figured the sauce would be on the side since they also have "BBQ Wings" on their menu. There was no distinction. My wings were doused (not tossed) in BBQ sauce. They were moderately tasty but not at all what I wanted. Next time, I'll just stick with the burger and call it a day. If I want a burger and fries (and better parking), I'll go to Smashed RVA.

We ordered it online so it wasn't much interaction but.... When i went in, there was no greeting or anything either... that really deserved me to take a star away.... But the burger was so bomb, im going to keep it at 5

My fiancé and I came here for lunch after our wheel throwing class at Hand Thrown. I've been wanting to try Slay Burgers for a long time now and am happy I finally did. Their burgers are incredible. If you're looking for juicy, greasy, deliciousness, look no further. This spot is super fun with all its cartoon burgers and anime/fantasy shoutouts on the walls. It's a really casual spot with no tables. They do have benches inside and out front that we ended up eating on. I can't wait to come back and try more things. They offer burgers as well as other goodies like fish sandwiches and chicken nuggets. There are tv menu displays above the cashier. On our visit, I got the omni (I highly recommend this) and my fiancé got the single slayburger (you can do double patty) and a side of cheese curds. If you love cheese and cheese curds, the omni is for you. I'm super stuffed from our delicious burgers and loved how chill the spot was. The person at the cash register was super sweet and helpful. They were kind in explaining their loyalty program to me. Even though it seems more people do takeout here, you are able to eat the burger on a bench like us no problem. Your 2025 resolution should be to eat here.

Sooo, I will say that for my meal the other day... I had high expectations for, but it was something I could have made at home and would have been satisfied. When my husband and I got home, the inside of the bag had waffle fries everywhere (like 5 guys). Our two sandwiches were wrapped perfectly but there was no labels to know what was what. I ordered 'The Leviathan' fish sandwich, without tartar sauce. The sandwich has two haddock fish fillets with lettuce, that's it because I took the tartar sauce out. Im wondering how come the attendant didnt suggest other Condiments or something before we left the restaurant. Thus I had to improvise in my kitchen with some Hotsauce. Mind you, the fillets looked like the Gorton's fish portions that I get from the grocery store and both had areas where it wasn't cooked thoroughly for the batter to crisp up all the way. So basically I didnt finish the sandwich, and ate most of the waffle fries.

Slay Burger was delicious. Service was pretty quick, we got there before people really started coming in. Now this to me is a whole in the wall. You not sitting to enjoy your meal, and that's ok. We ate ours in the car.

Nothing beats a smash burger and this is easily one of the best in town. It's not too salty, it's perfectly smashed, and just the right size. They use a pretty good bread, and the pickles and house sauce make a great combo. Only thing I do differently is order extra lettuce... I like a little crunch on my burger. The service is good and the space is super cute inside while you wait for your order. The wait isn't long at all, and the staff is sweet.

We ordered the onion rings, slay fries, bacon burger, and turkey burger. Everything was freshly prepared, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time despite the busy crowd. The burgers were flavorful and very filling -- even a single patty would be large enough to split with someone else. Overall, the food was satisfying, the portions generous, and I would absolutely return.

Slay burger was pretty full when I came in during a lunch rush. They do their best to provide ample seating space with the small waiting space. There's no where to really eat inside or outside so be prepared to take your food to go. Staff was quick to take the order and had my food in less than 10 minutes. Only downside was the door was being opened constantly so there were a few flies in the front windows and around the space but as far as I could see they weren't really anywhere near the food. The food was amazinggg! The waffle fries are so crispy and flavorful and they give a good portion! I got the Omni burger and it was delicious. Burger was cooked well, and had so much flavor. I would recommend checking this place out!

The burgers were very dry almost inedible, which was quite the disappointment. We order the Big Ounce and a turkey burger. Fries and onions ring were just ok. I probably won't be back, but I was really wanting this place to be much better than it actually was. It felt like this place was being overhyped.

It was a tricky life I was living going to school in the City. The burger is excellent. The fries are great. The beer tastes like beer. It's simple, but I love it. It can be a bit packed, so maybe make this a solo endeavor if you're really feeling fat. You can always find a spot at the bar. The parking, not easy for most. But for me, I'm not scared to maybe park in a spot that's not reserved for Jack Browns Customers. To their credit, they do have a good draft/bottle beer list, and their burgers are indeed good. However, that's really all there is to recommend them. The parking situation here is absolutely awful and starts things off on a bad note. Their absence of a waitlist system made it awkward while our party waited to get a table and other groups waiting for a table jockeyed for position, and they took forever to clean it off even after the previous party had left. While it was nice of my compatriots to pay for my dinner, the server refused to split our checks, which made it especially obnoxious for my friends who had ordered significantly less than others since they were still on the hook for the even split. If this had been the only service issue it might have been somewhat forgivable, but the server all but disappeared for most of the evening after taking our orders, particularly when most of us ran dry before our food finally arrived. This all might be excusable in a cheaper place, but Jack Brown's is NOT cheap anymore, they are just as overpriced as every other "bougie burger" spot around without a valid justification for it. At the end of the evening, I looked really dumb for choosing this place. That is definitely not a mistake I will make twice. Overall: 2.0 stars --- Pros: - Excellent draft and bottle beer list. - Burgers are good and unique. Cons: - Recent price increases kill the value proposition of this spot, just not worth it anymore when there are SO many options around for this sort of thing. - Weird seating/waitlist situation makes for a bad first impression. - Service was incredibly low energy, and as I can attest to as a former restaurant server myself, a party of eight needs some effort to get things right. - Parking here sucks, this area desperately needs at least one parking garage to make it less of an exercise in frustration to get here in the first place.
