When they brought out the sub, I wasn't super thrilled (although it was completely my mistake). However it's what occurred afterward that made this a 5-star restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly and fixed my sandwich. The gentleman cooking made it fast, and the girl at the counter was beyond polite. The restaurant is clean. You can tell these employees take extremely great pride in their jobs and this restaurant. I have never had such a positive experience at a Charley's. I've been to many over the years, especially while in the military. The staff working at 12:30 on Tuesday, August 4th deserve a raise!! Phenomenal people. Thank you!! Curiosity and proximity convinced me to visit Charley's last night for the first time. I kept my expectations low being that it's a chain, but ugh, I could've made the same sandwich with Steak-umms from the frozen food aisle. I swear, this meat had the exact same flavor. Not to mention the salt content. I also ordered a side of mozzarella sticks, and they also were super salty. The folks working were pleasant and clearly hustling. They had a good amount of business, especially for a Wednesday at an off-peak hour. I just can't justify a return based on the food quality. read more

I have yet to experience a bad time here. I always get the same meal basically (Chicken philly or buffalo chicken) The fries are a thick cut which is very fulfilling and always hot & fresh.. 12/16/22 7pm Charlie's cheesesteaks and wings VCU area Made the following to go order. Ordered 10pc chicken wing, all flats, flavored w/parmesan garlic. Only question I had was if it was a dry rub or wet and it's wet. The wings were fairly large. I definitely would have been fine with a 6 piece. From the appearance, it looks like I would've liked them cooked a little harder maybe a light brown . Upon tasting them I would concur with a harder cook. I don't like my chicken skin soft and chewy. The flavor was good. No dipping sauce included Buttermilk ranch - .60 extra. $13.79 for wings .75 for all flats $1.20 for 2 ranch dipping sauce = $17.75 Restaurant appeared clean. So I saw this place the other day and was curious how it would be. So tonight 4/11/22 I decided to drop in for dinner. Charley's is located on the end at the corner and located right in the VCU area. There's a nice patio on the outside where they have 4 tables that seat up to 6 each. Once inside the restaurant appeared to be clean and neat in appearance. The specialty they make, you guessed it Cheesesteaks and Wings! They have a lot of cheesesteak styles to choose from.... Now before you go and get all upset this is NOT a Philly cheesesteak.... I ordered the #3 Bacon Cheesesteak. The order was prepared very fast and I have to say was presented very nicely. The fries were basic steak fries but they were not too bad. Now for the cheesesteak, it looked great in its presentation. I was not all that impressed, the meat needed some seasoning as it tasted kind of bland. The sandwich was good but that's the best I can say. Now I do plan to go back and try the "old school" cheesesteak. The service was friendly and if you download the Charley's app you can get $5 off your first order. Now I do reserve the right to change my star ratings based on another visit however todays visit is only a visit. I would give them 3.5 if I could just because the service was fast and friendly. I ordered Charleys Cheese Steak for the firs time through Uber Eats and am sorry to say it wasn't what I expected. It took an hour to deliver my order so I won't hold them accountable for my food being cold but it was. That said, what I received looked nothing like the picture represented on their website. Instead of the cheese being mixed with the steak it was drizzled on top. The steak was dry and needed the cheese mixed. I love cheesesteaks and even though there are some very good Philly cheesesteak spots in RVA, I don't think any of them use such high quality protein in their subs like this place does. It's evident when you bit into your sub that they get high quality meat over here. I brought my dad here not too long ago to try it out and he fell in love with the place. The guy that was working at the register was really nice, not just to us but the way he interacted with all the customers that came in while we were there. Slow, wrong orders, missing items, overcharged. I've been here twice, once at a busy time, the other at an off peak hour. Both experiences were disappointing. The first time we ordered 3 items including a cheesesteak, wings, and one of their loaded fries. We received the wrong order of fries, the cheesesteak seemed to be missing cheese, and they forgot the side of ranch (which was an added cost). Since I had gone at a busy time, I assumed they were just overwhelmed and messed up but after my second visit I was just as disappointed. I had ordered wings and was given the wrong type (how do you mess up bone-in from boneless?) and was also overcharged for what I had order, not sure how that happens either. My wife and I went to try out the new Charleys Philly cheesesteak that opened this past Saturday. When we went in, we were greeted with a mad rush, and a staff that was overwhelmed by the rush of people. It took a little bit of time but we did get our order. It was right and hot the first time. While we were waiting for our order noticed a sign of $.70 wings on Tuesday so my wife and I made a date night and came for the chicken wings. we ordered garlic Parmesan and teriyaki wings that were the perfect size and according to my wife, they were perfectly sauced. In the matter of 10 minutes we had our order piping hot the way I love it and quite tasty to boot. We were just about finished eating when the owner Ramy asked tohow our dining experience was, and I responded that I was quite happy and very impressed with the effort of the staff and Ramy to make sure I had what I wanted, and things were prepared to my liking. I was quite impressed with the young man running the operation. He reminds me a lot of myself when I was his age just starting out. I do suggest people give this sub shop a chance because the food and atmosphere is worth the wait! read more
