I was told to take notes...why can they not have the information provided in print? I felt like the representative was annoyed that I questioned the suggestion for Yellow Fever vaccination because the CDC only suggests for travel to certain areas of Peru, such as the Amazon rainforest and I am going to Machu Picchu so altitude should have been the main concern. I kindly asked her if they were paid a commission because of the suggestions she made and the high pressure to decide to avoid an additional fee. I plan to request a refund as their answer was to consult my MD because she realized I had reported an allergy to penicillin...why did she prescribe having that on my registration forms? I suggest you consult an informed travel clinic with a medical advisor.

My daughter (15) and I both saw them for primary care. I left after I went in twice for a sinus infection and they refused me antibiotics, which I had not taken in more than a decade. I went to an ENT after that. He was SHOCKED that they didn't prescribe me meds. I ended up on them for much longer than I would have liked for a very common infection. Here was the kicker for me: My daughter liked their nurse practitioner Laurelin Mullins, so I continued taking her there. My daughter has ADHD, for which she was treated at Balcones Woods Family Medicine before it changed hands. On April 1, 2019, her high school sent a form over to confirm my kid's ADHD (so she could get accommodations), the practice did nothing for two weeks. I called and they found the form after much searching. Then NP Mullins refused to sign the form because she hasn't been treated for ADHD since they were taken over by Seton. She didn't attempt to help at all (for example, I have a neuropsych's report etc. that I would have provided to assist; they could have looked at old records, etc.). Regardless of the fact that she was treated at that clinic, they didn't sign the forms. This means my daughter is still waiting for her accommodations at school. The practice should not treat children who need accommodations this way. Even the high school was surprised and they do this all the time. They aren't nearly as caring with patients as they used to be. We won't be going back.

Really annoying delays when we would talk. We kept talking over each other. Difficult to understand, & they didn't see to have any compassion. Just another phone call. I called St David's & talked to a real local person, who empathized with me. Night & day difference & the choice was clear. I had a couple tests scheduled at the outpatient imaging center. The day of my testing, everyone I interacted with was smiling, upbeat, & so friendly. They seemed to go out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. i've gone to this urgent care over the years. the wait time varies but is often long…read more I appreciate being able to email them my health history and medication list, as both are long & complex. I think my doing that may be why the Dr who saw me took me seriously, (i saw he had printed out my health history and had highlighted things in it) and spent more time with me than others have. I was super anxious, wayyyyg overtired, and experiencing very intense restless leg (and other parts of my body) syndrome with many forceful spasms, all my muscles in my body were tightly clenched and i couldn't get them to relax and I was also in a lot of pain (this was due to a recent medication change, and my having a bad reaction to it), which I told them. So, at first I was disappointed because Dr. Joe told me that they couldn't give me muscle relaxers bc they would amplify the effects of the drug i was on that I was badly reacting to, so I felt like crying because i didn't know what to do, how to get help. Dr. Joe recommended I go back to my original dosage of the medication, and took the time to show me stretches i could do, and recommended that I take pedialyte or coconut water, and use arnica cream. i followed his advice, got the arnica tablets for leg cramps (i took 6) and the arnica cream for arthritic relief, which i rubbed all over myself. i drank coconut water and went back to my usual dosage of the medication, and did stretches and doing these things worked; got a full 8 hrs of sleep and only had a few leg spasms the whole night! my muscles feel relaxed now, and I am super grateful for that. I appreciate Dr. Joe listening and taking me seriously and recommending all he did, bc i am now back to my normal level of poor health, which is so much less bad than it was before Dr. Joe's help. We knew it would be a matter of time before he would need another inhaler, but we didn't want to cough up another $2,000 just so he could breathe. We found Pro Med instead. It's Austin's answer for those who aren't fortunate enough to work at a place with benefits. We have only been to the place on Lamar (down south; there are three Austin locations). Not only did they get us in pretty quickly on a busy afternoon, they also got us out pretty quickly too. Well, that was the first time, anyhow. The second time it took more time, but I blame all the middle and high schoolers who kept coming in for their sports physicals. total cost each time wasn't more than $90. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet! So, my fiance got his prescriptions and we were in and out. And it wasn't, like a million dollars. How much better does it get for those without health insurance? Not much. And it's not too bad. Fiance wants health insurance. But until then, we'll be popping in for our every-three months visits. And just a warning, it's not for the faint of heart. It's basically a clinic for those with a little more money than the indigents. Don't expect the equipment to shine enough that you can see your reflection in it. Just expect some good care. The husband woke up with an ear infection this morning, so off to an urgent care center he went! He…read morechose Pro Med because it's close to our house, but he should have checked yelp before. Here we go. He left the house before 9:30, and checked in at Pro Med before 10. The nurses gave him a ballpark wait time of an hour to an hour and a half, which is kind of a long wait at 9 am on Monday with no option to make an appointment ahead of time. But hey, it's a simple ear infection, so he figures antibiotics wouldn't be hard to get a hold of in a decent amount of time. All the while, his hearing is getting worse and he's in growing pain. But he waited. And waited. And waited. Until a few people who checked in hours after him started to get called in before him. Husband goes back up to the nurses station to check and see what the hold up might be. They assure him that it was getting close to "an hour and a half wait", and that they would get to him asap. Almost three (yes, 3!) hours go by before they finally call him in to see the doctor. While he's in the room waiting for the doctor (mind you, for a SIMPLE ear infection that he already pretty much diagnosed himself this morning), and still, no sign of the doctor. 45 minutes go by before the assistant comes in to check his ear, and decides that he can't see in his ear because it was so swollen. Gee, yeah, YA THINK? So they still can't just write him the prescription for anti-biotics at that point, and he ends up having to get his ear flushed out before the doctor plans to come in to see him. At this point, some nurse's assistant comes in to douse my husband in hydrogen peroxide in attempts to clean out his ear for the doctor. Needless to say, at this point, my husband was tired, in pain, sick, and now covered in peroxide. No doctor, no prescription. In the meantime, the young assistant kept pestering him about how frequently he cleans his ears, even though he said he didn't see anything in his ear to make him ask that? Finally, the doc comes in, says it's a an ear infection, and writes him his much awaited-for prescription for ta-DAH! Generic anti-biotics. Half a day later... The nurses asked him to come back this week for a check up! Yeah right! And take the whole day off work to sit in a stuffy waiting room with sick people? I think next time we will try the ER.

I appreciate and value his one-on-one approach. Dr. Cliff explained he doesn't charge an extra mark up for blood work. I was pleasantly surprised how affordable the blood work & lab tests were. Far less than I paid from another "regional clinic." He answers emails and phone calls, even on a recent Saturday. I don't remember other doctors sending emails to patients, but Dr. Cliff does! :)
