I was sent the wrong tubing for my cpap machine. I called to have a longer tube sent to prevent the nightly fall of my machine from the nightstand, my discomfort as I frequently turn over, and interrupted sleep. I was told that they would send a return label for the short tubing. I would then have no cpap machine until they determined whether to send the correct tubing. I WILL find another provider. Seniors generally understand that mistakes happen, but owning up to an error and providing a remedy is both good business and an act of humanity. Totally disgusted. Let me add to the many other terrible reviews of this company. Most horrible customer experience ever. My doctor sent them a prescription for new CPAP supplies in November. Many phone calls to doctor and AHP and I still have not received my supplies. Now they are telling me that I have to drive to the office in San Antonio and give them my signature, which they already have. read more

Need a CPAP? DO NOT GET IT HERE. Why, you ask? 1. Sandy, the person who fits your mask & frame, will lie to you. She will tell you that supplies will be shipped to you automatically. NOT TRUE for Medicare patients. But she'll tell you this every time you have to go in as you struggle to find a mask that works for you. 2. She is completely useless and, even worse, doesn't give a hoot when you call repeatedly, begging for any suggestions that might help you get full use out of the machine. It is a rare person who makes a quick full adjustment to using any machine for sleep apnea, so her complete disregard of anything other than the commission she apparently gets matters a lot. 3. This office used to have a different person in Sandy's position. THAT woman acted as a coach to people, providing helpful suggestions for the process of getting used to these irksome machines. My guess is that they fired that woman, probably for being too compassionate & helpful to customers. 4. SAVING THE WORST FOR LAST: They and the corporate supply office REFUSE TO GIVE THE SUPPLIES YOU NEED FOR SAFE AND HEALTHY OPERATION OF THE MACHINE. The way they do it is by saying that they're shipping the supplies and never doing it. This is NOT a supply chain issue. It is a way of forcing you to use the equipment with old, defective tubes & masks & dirty filters. Doing so breaks the machine warranty which American Home Patient apparently intends, in the hope that you'll then have to buy a 2d machine from them. By then, your insurance may say that they won't pay for another machine unless 2 to 5 years have passed. But American Home Patient doesn't mess around: they want you ruining that warranty in the first 6 months. You will then have to pay full market price, not whatever Medicare has negotiated. Lincare owns American Home Patient, and is in turn owned by a German company, Linde. Lincare uses all the exact tactics outlined above, albeit much more rudely, so I am not surprised by any of this. I have had a terrific experience with American Home Patient/Lincare. From the first time I called until today there has been no delay. The ladies on the phone are kind and knowledgeable. The respiratory technician who fitted me for new Cpap equipment was thorough and made sure I was comfortable with the equipment. When I asked them to stop sending the supplies for my CPAP machine, the didn't I had to visit there office several times, politely asked them to stop, to close my account, and now, more than a year later, they still trying to send me, they still call me every month. Switched to American Home Patient because they had portable oxygen concentrators when I called. My doctor sent in the necessary documentation. I have stage 4 lung cancer. I need oxygen anytime I go out anywhere. Once paperwork sent, I received a call saying I have to use the tanks for 30 days, then I could get a portable machine. Okay, great. I contacted them about 2-3 months later and asked how to go about getting one. I had my doctor send in the request. They then called to tell me that their internal review for POCs said I do not qualify because I don't need it. I have to use 8 tanks per month for 3 months. "It's policy". No submitting it to my insurance company to review/approve. Just flat out won't even process it. What part of I HAVE STAGE 4 LUNG CANCER DON'T YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND??? Save yourself the frustration. I needed a wheelchair. I contacted American Home Patient because I receive my CPAP supplies from their national office and assumed it would be good to deal with a company that already had all of my insurance information. The first person I spoke to gave me a wrong number to fax to. I finally got the correct number and faxed them. Two business days passed and they never contacted me. I contacted another local company that responded promptly and set me up for the wheechair I will need post surgery. read more

In re: American Home Patient/Austin, TX (Lincare) Recently, my machine Bi-Pap machine broke. (When I say "broke", I mean a small clip on the hose attachment broke off. It is physically broken.) I called their local office and explained the situation to them. The rep who answered the phone told me to bring in the machine and they would determine whether or not it could be repaired "in house" or whether or not they had to send it to the factory for replacement. Okie-dokie so far. But, when I said "And you'll give me a loaner to use while this one is being fixed ?". The rep them told me that they do not have any loaners and that I'd have to go without a machine for two weeks minimum. Now, I don't know how many of you use a Bi-Pap or C-Pap machine, but if you do, you know that we can't go without a machine for one night! The reason we use these machines is to keep from CHOKING TO DEATH WHILE WE SLEEP! Oh, and get this: They told me that the rep that handles these things was on vacation and that I'd have to wait until that particular rep returned from vacation. So, all and all, I figure I'll be without a machine for a month. Ain't that just spiffy? In summary: The local Austin American Home Patient (Lincare) office needs new management, loaner machines and new reps(Their reps seemed to not care how serious the situation was.) Loathsome is the most charitable way to describe the relationship I had with this company over the past few months. At best, they were merely adequate. At worst, they sucked like an army of Hoovers. Our account rep, Tom, gave the impression he was trying to help, but it was clear he'd never processed a ventilator request. He didn't understand a basic tenet of government procurement: You describe functionality, not specify product. Before it was over, I helped him write the Medicare justification so it would clear AHP's own organization. They get a star for the combined efforts of their two delivery gentlemen (Chris and Kyle) who truly went out of their way to keep us happy on the O2 side of the house. If I were only rating their oxygen service, this would be at least a three-star review. They get another star for the efforts of our main respiratory therapist, Jesse, who was spot on. She provided the best care she could for my patient within the limits of her organization. Unfortunately, Jesse's scheduled month of PTO came at a critical time in my patient's care, and her backup was neither helpful nor competent when I visited their office for assistance. Here's where those stars not only get erased, but go uber-negative: 1) One of the biggest obstacles you'll face is getting the runaround from the front desk drudge. What she doesn't know about respiratory therapy could fill the Grand Canyon, but she's an expert at storytelling, always to the detriment of the patient. She has no qualms exaggerating to Medicare about the services AHP is providing to the patient for the $1,000 monthly ventilator rental fee. She's not a respiratory therapist and she has no clue as to the equipment or actual supplies you're using or their required maintenance intervals. She is an expert, however, at manipulating facts, jumping to conclusions, blaming the patient and/or caregiver, and casting aspersions on YOUR knowledge. She claimed there was no valid ventilator prescription, when, in fact, there was. She fabricated a need for a "supplies" prescription when confronted in Medicare conference call. In effect, she positions herself as a denial-of-access gatekeeper to required supplies and services. That means more profit margin when it comes to all-inclusive "Frequently & Substantially Serviced" items such as ventilator therapy. Her own respiratory therapist said she was wrong. 2) When it came to compliance downloads from the SD card for the machine, I never had turnaround faster than a week--even though I hand-delivered the data card to them each time and was willing to wait. I was told each time that "the computer" was being moved (twice). The first time, the SD card was mailed back to me in a standard letter envelope, with the outline of the card imprinted on the envelope from mail processing. Now mind you, this card is being monitored for usage by insurance, so 1/4th of the month's usage went unrecorded for compliance purposes. 3) Dealing with AHP by phone involves routing the local number through a national call center, where they argue internally and with you about whether they can service a ventilator patient. Having visited the Austin office several times, there are plenty of people available to answer the local phone directly. Instead, it is yet again another subterfuge which ultimately leads back to the front desk of the Austin office for non-resolution. When the national call center does decide it will help, there are numerous dropped balls, and you have to keep pursuing them doggedly for action. They have no problem denying a request from their back office and not communicating that to you until you call again to check on order status. 4) I have no fewer than 11 telephone numbers stored in my cell phone from various branches of their organization, simply because they are that horribly disorganized. I'd have more, but I stopped storing them and started simply recognizing calls by area code. Hint: Calls from 615 area code are for oxygen delivery scheduling. Each route scheduler calls from a different 615 number and seems genuinely surprised you'd return a call to their number. 5) Another major issue is AHP's lack of response to electronic communications, even when HIPAA information is not at risk. I have requests from February that have not been addressed. The backup respiratory therapist told me she doesn't read her email often, one more hallmark of the zero accountability at AHP. I truly pity the high needs patient who comes here without an advocate, because they will definitely be under-served by AHP's pathetic customer service. You have to constantly fight a battle with this organization for what little service you can wring from them. And that's a pity because these are some of the weakest and most vulnerable patients that they're victimizing. Hanlon's Razor be damned, their malicious acts made the three months we were with them sheer hell. OH HELL NO! NOT RECOMMENDED EVEN FOR YOUR WORST ENEMY! read more

They charge me for supplies I never got and ignore me when I contact them and said that I never ordered them or received them and then they sent me to collections. There is a lot on the Internet about this company and fraudulent billing. read more

1 Star is far too generous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely the worst decision for my health that I have ever made! I did not know the unimaginable stress that came with dealing with these scam artists. I started getting supplies that would randomly show up, last March (2020) I tried to call to get these to stop and to send them back, due to COVID they stopped answering phone calls and couldn't possibly manage to return anyone's messages. I called every month up until today with promises of making my account right. It has been a year and 1 month of sending items back, they credit me for 2 and send me the rest back and charge me for them. At least the back and forth for 13 months straight has resulted in my bill going down from nearly $400 to $200. This after promising to credit me back for supplies that were not ordered by myself, signed off by my doctor nor items I use. Magically all of a sudden today their excuse was that my doctor signed a lifetime Rx for the machine and supplies. Laughable considering they refused to provide me with a copy of it, the fact my doctor recommending the machine was a different doctor than the one I see for my progress (whom I haven't seen since 2019 due to COVID), and the fact that I no longer see that doctor who checks my progress because we moved and I have yet to find a doctor who will see me for my sleep apena as of yet. What is really upsetting is that I'm younger in my 30's willing to stand up and say that this company will not force me to pay for supplies I didn't order, receive, and couldn't use, but what about the elderly patients who don't know any better. These people are crooks! If you like fighting with a company that will lie, cheat and steal then American home Patient **Now known as Lincare** then they are for you. Don't be surprised if you get billed too much, end up with surprise bills, supervisors that will not return calls, RUDE customer service agents, etc... You have been warned. American Home Patient, AHOM.com, is not worth dealing with. They do not return telephone calls and they have a habit of bouncing you between their national 800 number and the local office. I spent almost three weeks trying to set up an American Home Patient account. Most recently, Heather in AHOM's Austin office refused to listen to my requests, just rerouted me to their national office. Angela in their national office just hung up and Louis on the 2nd call to the 800 number said only the local office could help and refused to lift a finger or pass me to a supervisor. Since neither the national nor the local AHOM office was willing to help or return calls, I suggest you find a more responsive company. read more

My insurance company directed me to this company unfortunately and I have already let them know about their horrible service. My doctor sent a prescription for a new CPAP face mask and it took three months for American Home Patient to get this in the works. Then I was told just to call the supply company who could send me the mask. Of course, that wouldn't work since I didn't know the exact mask or size that would fit. After making two appointments (they cancelled the first appointment after I had already arrived) I was fitted with a mask. It has been totally unwearable and unusable due to the design of the mask - hard plastic to press into your face as you sleep. Then I received bills for two masks, then bills for two more masks including a dunning letter for the first two - I had only received one total. DON'T EVER FREQUENT THIS BUSINESS - GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH AMERICAN HOME PATIENT (LINCARE). read more

It has been over 2 months since I was told that I had to go and get fitted for a new mask as the one I have used for over 20 years has been discontinued. As of today, the new mask has not been ordered and I was told that I had to order my own supplies. While on hold, to order supplies, AHP called me back to say that they gave me the wrong information, and that I had to come back and get fitted for a mask. At this point I lost it... I had been there in April to be fitted for a mask. Kim stated that the new mask had not been been entered into the system yet so I could not order it from the supplies department as a RT needed to order it. Every call over the last two and more months someone was to call me and have not received a call. If I can get future supplies from another company, I will change without a hesitation. I agree with other review comments - loathsome! American Home Patient Austin is the worst provider I have ever dealt with. They are basically not responsive to patient needs. My oxygen regulator went out Friday afternoon and I called, called again on Saturday, called again on Monday and today is Tuesday. I was told that they couldn't deliver a replacement until Thursday. I told them if I died from oxygen starvation my wife would sue them. read more
