My son (14 yrs old) has Crohn's disease and Colon cancer and he needed to use the bathroom real bad. No one was at the front desk for me to ask if he could use the bathroom so I proceeded to the "public" bathroom before he had an accident. 2 minutes later there was knock on the bathroom door and the lady asked if I had a room there so I told her respectfully no I didn't and i explained the situation but she didn't care and told me I had to have my son stop doing number 2 and leave the premises so that's exactly what we did and they walked us outside like we were criminals and waited at the entrance doors until we left. You would think people would have compassion for a child like that but nope not here. I will be making a full video about it on my social media page read more

I wish I could give his hotel zero stars. We paid $160 for one night. We arrived at 11:30PM, we got our room 206 and the first thing was the light didn't work to the room. We let it go since we were going to bed anyways. Woke up the night morning to actually sunlight to see into the room. We had BLOOD on the walls and bathroom floor, the room was incredibly dirty, and cracks in thr bathroom walls. When we checked out I sent the pictures to the front desk manager who said they would contact me about a discount. No one ever called. So I called back and she said they were having a hard time refunding me because I wasn't a choice hotel member. Who cares, I'm still a customer. So today, they did call to offer $25 BACK! What a slap on the face for such a nasty ass hotel. read more

OMG WHY, WHY, WHY didn't I look at the reviews first?? My work has me staying at hotels 30+ weekends a year. This is BY FAR THE WORST HOTEL I have ever stayed at. THE MORON BEHIND THE DESK (TEE) DID 2 AUTHORIZATIONS FOR MY STAY. Looking at other reviews I see this is kind of the norm for this location. No one at the front deck could do anything about the problem because apparently Choice Hotels doesn't employ anyone with any knowledge or even common sense on how to take care of a customer. The manager of that location comically is the same dimwit that charged me twice! PLEASE - if you need a hotel, stay FAR AWAY FROM THIS ONE!!! I contacted corporate for Choice Hotels, and they were as moronic as the "manager" at the location. Didn't offer any help whatsoever with the exception of calling the hotel and talking to the same idiot that over charged me in the first place! You can see in the photo the 2 authorizations. Came through for a one night stay. Front desk clerk - younger African woman - totally rude as if she was doing me a favor. Then she got really bothered once I asked her to show me my room before I gave her my credit card for payment. I left her my ID, credit card and car keys so I could go see before check in. Room was humid and stinky. Beds seemed clean and with three pillows each (that's why the two starts) but the carpet was nasty. Breakfast was not good-the had the waffle maker and I thought that would save the morning grub but then the had ran out of syrup so they killed us twice. I'd go to another hotel if I had another one to choose. read more

I have to thank Sleep Inn & Suites for there hospitality. Last night after evacuating Southwest Florida we started calling hotels and they were all booked two hours from Jacksonville, FL. I called this hotel and they had the two rooms we needed. Do we paid by credit card not knowing the area or quality of what this hotel was. $99 for each room it was the deal of a century. Place was immaculate and right next to the I10 one of Florida's biggest highways. The convenience was an absolute miracle. The room was clean, the bed was sooo comfortable that we didn't want to get out of it. Continental breakfast was great. They even had "make your own" Belgian waffles and they were great. Coffee was plentiful and good, and there was quite a big selection of goodies and dry cereal. Thank you Sleep Inn & Suites for being there when we needed you. read more

Everything you need and nothing you don't. This place needs a refresh. When I am balling on a budget I have to review rooms based on a different set of criteria that I am used to. "Will I get stabbed here?". No certainly not. "Will I get crabs here?". NO, at least not from the bedding. Praise the staff here for keeping the place clean and pleasant. I am a Platinum/Premium Card Member of CHOICE HOTELS, and I reserved a room at this Sleep Inn in Jacksonville, FL for 1 night to attend a concert. The Front Desk Manager, Ms. Brandi Roberts, greeted me when I arrived and acted like checking me in was an inconvenience, and keeping her from something more worthy of her time. I ignored this due to her age (I am a former Front Desk Clerk for a Resort in Panama City Beach, FL...Now retired.) She requested I swipe my credit card on a tablet device at the counter. I did so, and asked for clarification on a couple questions. I believed I had paid for the room in advance and requested they NOT charge my credit card twice! She insisted the room was not prepaid. I checked out the following morning to return home, stopped for gasoline, and my credit card was rejected due to exceeding my credit limit. I enquired and sure enough, this hotel ran my credit card for my room purchase TWICE...exceeding my credit limit and leaving me stranded at a gas station with no cash, a denied credit card, and a dead cellphone because the plug next to my bed was dead leaving my phone at 2% power when I checked out! After explaining the situation to my credit card company over and over, being transferred again and again, I was advised to call the hotel to withdraw the duplicate charge, so my credit card could be reactivated with $125 available as credit. When I called, Ms. Roberts answered and shouted, 'That's YOUR fault for taking so long on the tablet!' I WAS AMAZED AT HER LACK OF COMPASSION, MATURITY AND PROFESSIONALISM!!! After many excuses, I advised if she was not able to fix this problem, get a Supervisor who can, because I am disabled with arthritis in my spine, and I was stranded and using the gas station manager's cellphone for the last hour trying to access funds for fuel to return home! She stated a gentleman was fixing the problem, give it 5 minutes, and call my credir card company. She said it was now in their hands. My credit card company advised the duplicate charge was still a pending charge, and the hotel had failed to retract the duplicate charge. A 4 hour ride home took me 9 1/2 hrs. due to the actions of this hotel. Ms. Roberts showed NO REGARD FOR MY EMOTIONAL, PAINFUL, HUMILIATION AND EMBARRASSMENT. Today is 3 days later, and my credit card is STILL SHOWING the duplicate charge, so I enquired only to be told this hotel has STILL NOT REVERSED THE DUPLICATE CHARGE LEAVING ME NO AVAILABLE CREDIT TO PAY A BILL THAT WAS DUE YESTERDAY! My credit score is 758, and this is a Platinum Card. So, I again contacted the hotel, began telling the Front Desk Manager my problem from Tuesday evening only to realize Ms. Roberts IS the Front Desk Manager and my only contact since Tuesday. She interrupted me and EXPLODED IN A RANT I HAVE NEVER, EVER EXPERIENCED FROM AN INDIVIDUAL HOLDING SUCH A TITLE TO A CUSTOMER!!! She then hung up on me to later email me hours later the most, unprofessional, inappropriate correspondence...STILL with no apology for my inconvenience due to their shotty, cheap equipment, NOW blaming the duplicate charge to an equipment failure! I have had to contact my Attorney due to this harrassing email, and I will continue to reach out to the appropriate upper management or Owner until this is resolved. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again! BEWARE should you consider this an option for yourself!!! read more

Not only was the experience terrible, I was denied services because of my service animal. I have extreme anxiety & depression after the death of a loved one...The woman sitting in the front desk called the owner and told us that we couldn't stay because my dog doesn't perform a task & she's not used for disability. Not only is this WRONG but discrimination!!! I had already paid for my room ($110) & had to wait 7-10 business days for my refund. So, now I have no money and NO ROOM. I specifically explained to the young lady that this is A LAW & I couldn't be denied service. The owner still denied me and animal. I called the authoritie, sat in the cold for 2 hours just to be TOLD THAT IS A LAW & YOU CANNOT deny ANYONE service with ESA OR PSD support animals. I feel sorry for people who have disabilities that aren't visible or animals who for calming an individual down instead of performing specific tasks!!! I will be moving forward with filing a complaint with the civil courts to get this resolve and to make sure this DOES NOT happen to anyone else. No one should be denied for having type of service animal or NON visible disability !!! Completely absurd !!! We really enjoyed the one night we stayed here on the way to vacation. The room was clean and comfortable, and had enough pillows and towels for a family of four. (I only mention it because that is not always the case when you travel on a budget.) We had a reservation, which was good because they were otherwise full. The free breakfast was the usual continental fare, but also featured sausage, biscuits and gravy. The dining area was clean and the news streaming was local, which was nice. Booked through Hotels.com for a steal. This will be our waypoint next time we're coming through the area! read more

Needed a room for two nights to attend a business training seminar. Had arrived by Amtrak, located in the middle of nowhere and rented a car from a small Hertz office, also located in the middle of nowhere. (The area is heavy industrial with nothing for tourists.) Room nicely appointed with good sized refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker. King sized bed was clean and comfortable with good number of pillows. Very good Wi-Fi, but open system, no logins required. Staff was friendly and helpful. Free Continental breakfast started at 6:00 AM. Several restaurants within a few blocks. read more

The hotel staff were really friendly at the front desk so this review is not about them. And I can tell the cleaning staff does a good job so it's not about them either. Whoever owns this hotel needs to figure out a way to make it smell better. It isn't something that can be blamed on the staff. It's a bigger problem about maybe the ventilation of the building or maybe people smoke in the rooms. As soon as the elevator opened a musty smell hit us. Then when we got into the room it was musty and I think it smelled like stale cigarettes. We got in late - slept and got up as early as possible to leave. This place has potential to be a pleasant stay but unfortunately the dank smell is too unpleasant to overcome. It was inexpensive so perhaps we should have known by the price - but this is not something a Glade plugin will fix. Maybe they need new carpet and curtains and could paint the walls or get a better ventilation system or something. Had a rough stay. First room was fine was about to head down to the lobby had another guest walk in to my room. Which happens we are human. After I grabbed BBQ from Bono's across the street. I sat down got most way through my meal and noticed insects about 7 of them crawling a various points as I was eating. (absolutely the most appetite loosing thing in the world.) My third and final point is after I got the room change my mattress or bedding made me all itchy all over felt like bed bugs but I kept looking for anything and I couldn't find anything though I swore up and down something was causing me that. The only thing good about this place was the girl behind the counter that helped me through all of that. If your looking for a place to stay just stay at the comfort suites or holiday inn a couple of miles away. read more

We had a very nice visit to this hotel! The rooms are a bit older and have some wear and tear, but the beds are comfortable and it has all the amenities that are needed. The shower was great and everything was pretty clean. The internet was a bit spotty at times, but nice that it was working at all (I've had some bad hotel internet experiences). The front desk people were friendly as were the housekeeping staff. One thing that happened was that the housekeeping staff came into the room while we were still moving our stuff out and started cleaning even after we asked her to come back in 5 minutes, she said ok and then stayed and kept talking and cleaning, which was a bit annoying. Overall, I would say that this place is worth staying at if you need to stop in Jacksonville. read more

I reserved my room for five days. I checked out after four. They charged me for the total five days, then an additional day, claiming this is procedure for an early check out. Let me repeat that. They charged me for six days on a five day reservation. They claimed my refund for the fifth day would process in five business days and my mysterious sixth day charge would disappear. The manager was not helpful since she was the one who did it. She claimed that if I didn't have hundreds extra on hand for their hotel processing, I should have paid in cash. Who pays in cash, anymore? She said I should have read the sign on the front door (they have put a lot of signs on the front door regarding all sorts of things) but I made my reservation through the internet and am a Choice Privileges member. How would I have read the sign on the door telling me to make sure I "had hundreds extra available in case the manager wanted to scam" me before making my reservation? She panicked when I said I was going to file a fraud charge with my bank. I'm guessing that this isn't really standard hotel procedure that no hotel but them does.The room was reasonably clean but the room service skipped a day for no apparant reason. The elevator and hallways are outdated, old, and worn out. The night we checked in, there were five cars taking up ten places in the parking lot, and when I went to go to my meeting the next morning, a large truck had blocked me in my spot. The breakfast was a joke, and they pack it up hours before they say breakfast ends. This is not in a good neighborhood so very often walkers who patronize the neighboring gas station for food will browse around the parking lot, looking in cars. Don't worry, the hotel has a sign outside about that, too. The problem seems to rest solely with management. Get rid of the rude thief and the place would likely run a lot smoother. Go a little further on I-10 in either direction or go into Orange Park on 220 and you'll have a much better and safer experience for the money you agree to pay! read more

PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE! On arrival, my taxi driver left with the warning to be careful of my person, and pointed out an in-process drug deal. Apparently the prostitutes stay at the hotel across the street. Solicitors surrounded the hotel. Not a good start. Entered the hotel. Desk staff was friendly and checked me in, but that was the only good thing that happened that visit. Lobby smelled of smoke and cheap disinfectant. I entered the elevator to get to my room and could barely breath for the smoke smell. Got to the "non-smoking" room. Room likewise smelled of smoke. Dingy, unclean. Dirty carpet. Very dusty bedside table, which appeared not to have been wiped this month. Broken fixtures, including light switch (thankfully lights still worked) and missing knobs on the temperature control. On returning to the desk, I was not offered another room, so I checked out. I cancelled the reservation through hotels.com and booked a room elsewhere. I phoned in to speak with Brittany Howard, the manager to get a refund. I was told I would have to speak with the owner, who never called me back despite 4 follow-up calls. Brittany gave various inconsistent excuses about why they would be unable to issue a refund. I finally gave up, and will be contesting the charge for a night I did not stay! read more
