Don't buy it! It is such a waste of money! My husband and I bought a Sleep Number thinking it would accommodate what he needs in a mattress and what I need. This mattress has caused both of us back problems. We both wake up in the middle of the night in pain, and we have yet to find a comfortable number. My husband has to change his number every time he switches positions, and I wake up when moving positions because ny back is stiff and REALLY hurts. I am in the process of playing phone tag to warranty or exchange this junk, either way I'm stuck having to get another sleep number because I have their base. It is the most comfortable mattress WHEN you can actually set it. But like lots of UI software, they MORONS at sleep number have ruined the UI trying to be Cute and creative. And now I cannot even set the sleep number value as all it lets me set in the auto setting, where the "smart" (actually Dumb Ass) bed sets it for me. It run off and on all night and wakes you up. What TOTAL Neanderthal thought that was a good idea. So after spend $$Thousands I guess I need to spend an extra $100 to get a "simple/stupid" remote that will ACTUALLY do what I want it to do. ADJUST the bed setting. Sleep number, WOKE up, or WAKE up, and forget the glitz and glamor and concentrate on the core value of your bed. EASY to set. We like our bed, BUT with a split king at the top only, we are TRAPPED into buying Sleep Number sheets. We woke this am to a foot long shred by my husbands shins. The sheet's are 1 year and less than a month old, but the warranty is only good for 12 months. The sheets are SUPER expensive and they won't do anything about it. We are more than disappointed in the sheets and forced to buy new ones at full price, knowing they won't last... I am adding to this after I shared this. I spent over 1.5 hours on the phone, mostly on hold. I waited 3 hours for a call back, but never got it. I finally reached Raven, the representative that helped me out and gave me a new set of sheets. We bought a top-of-the line split-top mattress, and the top separated pretty quickly. So, send it back, right? That's why they have that amazing return policy. Yeah, except that you can't return the base, which is thousands of dollars. Yeah, yeah, that's in their terms and conditions, but it's not what the salesperson tells you in the store. The salesperson makes it sound like it's a no risk decision. It's shady. Plus, the split top didn't start separating until after the trial period. And Sleep Number won't help. So, now I sleep on the equivalent of a twin bed that's separate from my husband's twin bed. It's awful. Don't buy from Sleep Number. read more

Really really really unpleasant sales experience. We headed to this location this past weekend because we were in the market for a new bed and had never tried sleep number. It's pretty high pressure sales, in a really obnoxious way. Our sales guy dictated to us the three beds we'd be looking at (despite several more models in the store). He skipped the base model and when I asked to start with that for comparison sake, he spent the entire time telling us how awful their base model is and that most people return it. Uh.....not really inspiring confidence in your product there, dude, and I really hated that he was obviously directing us to higher priced models right away. He hovered over us the entire time, which is really annoying, and my husband and I could not talk together without him interrupting. Obviously, the more padded version we tried (of the three we were allowed to try) was the most comfortable and that bed ends up being over $5k. Super high pressure to use their bed base, and skeevy sales tactics of saying "We can give you $1000 off" and when I pressed for detail on the $1000 it's actually because part of that is free delivery. Uhm, if I'm spending $5000 on a bed you'd better give me free delivery. We just went to try it out, had never tried a sleep number previously, and so we said thanks and that we'd think about it. The sales guy immediately started pressuring us super hard to buy right that second, having spent 20 minutes in the store, and when we kept saying "no we want to think about it" he started saying things like "I thought you said your bed was causing you problems now though" and "Your just going to try other spring mattresses and you already know what those feel like so thats a waste of your time". I'm sorry, but I'm not dropping $5k on ANYTHING without thinking about it at least overnight and it was SUPER annoying that this dude did not respect that. Side note: Of the beds we were allowed to try, that $5k bed did NOT feel like a $5K bed. It was SUPER basic padding that felt cheap and wasn't terribly comfortable. When the pressure was lowered to a spot that was comfortable for me to lay on my side, it was TOO soft in my hips (no regional adjustment for pressure) and I felt the air mattress inside, which also just felt cheap to me. We ended up spending a little less at another mattress place and getting a hybrid mattress that feels luxurious, which I'd what I'd expect at that price point. Overall, the beds seem cheap (although I wasn't allowed to try them all) and the sales pressure was just over the top. I'd never go back or consider Sleep Number again. read more

I bought my first sleep number in 2003 and still love it to this day, so after buying a house and needing to furnish a guest room, decided to put the old one in the guest room and treat myself to a new one. I will say the store sales person was great and really patient with me taking a long time to decide on a bed. The reason for taking a long time is because the beds have completely changed from what they used to be and are not nearly as comfortable. With a guarantee of their 100 day return policy, I finally chose one. First problem, after I made the purchase decision, I was informed of the no return policy on the base but assured the warranty is solid. Then my bed is delivered and I find out I need to register the base with a completely different company. The next day I discover the button on the side of the base that is supposed to put it into your saved favorite position doesn't work. Combined with a very irritating app that forces you to reload pages and drill down into menus when you're half asleep, it's ridiculous. The store salesperson told me that the remote controls are just on back order and that my name is on the list for one, however the delivery guys tell me that they're discontinued. I called the store and asked about it again and was reassured I would be getting a remote. Sales person also said someone would call me about the button not working. I waited and no one called, so I called them, got transferred all over the place, then sat on hold for an hour before hanging up. At this point I'm so frustrated that I call my sales person again, who arranges again for someone to call me. They finally call a few days later and schedule a service tech appointment. Fast forward a couple of weeks and they come today, only to tell me they can't fix it and I would be getting a call from customer service to arrange having it swapped out. Oh yeah, and they also tell me the remote controls are discontinued. After they leave, customer service calls and tells me that I have to call the other company for the appointment to swap out the base, that they can't schedule it for me. I've been sitting on hold with that company now as I type this for an hour! This is all compounded by the fact that I haven't had a good night night sleep since I bought this thing and customer service is the worst I've experienced anywhere ever! Oh yeah and the whole decision to buy a new bed was based on the premise that I could get a new pillow top for my existing one that I was moving to the guest room. Customer service told me it was $258, so I moved forward. A week later I receive the wrong item - a foam insert instead of the pillow top. I call customer service and they tell me the pillow top is $1000. When I bought my first bed in 2003, I raved about it so much that 5 family members, 2 coworkers and 3 friends ended up buying as well. I will be sure to tell them all now that will need replacements soon to look elsewhere, along with anyone else who's looking. It's a shame that customer service has gone from great to horrible and the bed is not comfortable, but if I send it back I'm stuck with a $2000 base that can't be returned, and from what I'm reading in other reviews, also can't be used with another bed. What a total waste of $4500! This is a follow up to the reply from the business owner posting a link to the in home trial policy. It is no help to post this after the purchase has been made. The issue is that the no return policy on the base is not disclosed to the customer until after the purchase decision, and it's written on the back of a piece of paper the customer is signing and skirted over at the store as not being a big deal. Throughout the whole sales and selection process at the store, the in home trial policy is presented as a no risk factor for such a large purchase, and it's very shady to present this exception in this manner after the purchase decision is made and the final papers are being signed. By the way, I ended up hanging up with customer service for that other company your rep handed me off to yesterday, after sitting on hold for 90 minutes. It's completely ridiculous that Sleep Number's customer service couldn't schedule this appointment while I had them on the phone, or contact that company on my behalf since I bought the thing from Sleep Number, not the other company. I've had the bed for all of 4 weeks and a faulty product was delivered by Sleep Number, not them. Also note, it was AFTER delivery was made that the delivery driver gave me a product registration card to send in to that third party company and I guess that's their way of saying I need to go through that company to get resolution on my problem. It's ridiculous and your standard response to all of these complaints acting like you care is not helping. What would help is to actually start providing quality customer service like you used to! read more

We just went today, so obviously haven't received our bed yet. But I wanted to review the store/sales staff itself, the bed review will come later. We were fortunate, I think, to go on a slower day. We had a fantastic sales person, Kathryn, who let us take our time and really get a feel for the bed we wanted. We came in looking for a specific bed, just needed to lay on it for a bit. She never pressured us to spend more than we wanted or steer us in a direction we didnt, although she explained the basics and told us about other things they offered. We are so excited to receive our bed and will not hesitate to refer friends to the store. We had an excellent experience with Kathryn, thank you, keep up the good work! 1st update to talk about shipping: Amazing! We bought this bed on Sunday and were told it could probably take a couple weeks for delivery. We bought the S1, so home delivery without setup was an option, one that worked better with our work schedules. Well, despite a crazy storm over the summit, it arrived on Thursday! Way ahead of expectations! Hats off to UPS, making that incredibly fast delivery. Excellent packing, two easily movable large boxes. Took both of us to carry each box upstairs, but neither was heavy. DONT BUY FROM HERE! The beds suck and they give you 90 days to return. Problem is they won't take it back the bottom part that is. And it's nonrefundable for the bottom half and costs $2000. Also returning the bed you only get half back for the mattress. So I'll save you your money THE BEDS ARE HORRIBLE NOT COMFORTABLE AND ARE WORSE THAN COMMON CAMPING AIR MATTRESSES. They make their money by keeping half on returns which their are a lot of and that's not how a company should work. Sleep number sucks the guy that said sell the base on Craigslist sucks. This review is based on several things first off the lady at the show room did a great job. Nothing against her or the Roseville store that I purchased my bed from after the first night. The bed wasn't what we expected it to be. It was a luxury air mattress Felt like I was sleeping on one from Walmart so they have a 30 day trial. We knew right away me and my wife this wasn't the bad for us. We contacted our sales person which she asked us to give it three weeks. We don't have three weeks to try it out, I explain to her we did not have that much time and we'd like to return it so she told us to call customer service which we did. The customer service is horrible first off I want to talk about the delivery of the bed it was four hours late with a young man coming by himself, so I'll as the customer helped him take out the old mattress we had and bring in the sleep number bed we explain this to customer service why would we be charged $249 when I did the job they told us they could not refund us the delivery fee, which is ridiculous then they told us it was another $249 for restock so altogether now I'm throwing away $500 on the bed that I got stored in an extra bedroom right now because I had to go purchase a new bed these beds are made for maybe certain people not for me or my wife the customer service is the most hot horrible customer service available or dealt with the business. Some suggestions I would go with his RC Willey for a bed mattress firm. This is my true experience. I would never seen anybody their way. read more

Purchased an i8 bed and a base, upon delivery realize that the bed is nothing like what's in store. You feel the foam in store you don't at home. Complained from day one but was told to wait it out and I did. Had them come out numerous times for things breaking/ or not working correctly but still held out hope the bed would one day be comfortable like the display. I recently hit day 100 and decided I can't do this anymore, the bed is not what it is advertised and I have had to many problems that still persist with the base. They were willing to return the mattress and I would be stuck with the base which is fine. Come to find out that everything good on the base feature wise is ran through the air pump and cannot be used without a sleep number bed. That is shady!!!!!!!! Sleep number seems to be one of a growing number of companies that will gladly sell you an expensive product, then refuse to provide you any kind of decent service when their product breaks down. Check this out. I paid over $10K for a sleep number bed in November. I was assured if there was a problem there'd be someone available to fix it. INSTEAD the first time there's a problem with the bed I find out the truth. There are no local service people. Service people are dispatched by a central company as available. And guess what? These service people have NO parts. They eventually come out and troubleshoot the problem, THEN order parts and come back later. OR if you don't have patience, or a spare bed, you're welcome to try and troubleshoot it yourself. IF the install left you "caps" to test with. If NOT you gotta wait 3-5 days for those to come in the mail...amazing, really. If I could give sleep number 0 stars I would. Take my advice, don't by a sleep number bed. EVER. read more

Installers were phenomenal!!! ... clean and curtious, Set up the frame and asked if I was ok with how it's gapped off the wall/between furniture etc, walked me through the set up and all the features... I'm not the easiest guy to please, but I made sure to buy the gentleman lunch and left a tip well earned... the only advice i have for someone looking to buy a complete set up with multiple items... definately buy in advance and be prepared to wait a couple months read more

I called and the voice said due to unusual volume of calls it would be 45 yes 45 minute wait? I guess there are lots of problems. So I chatted via their website. She put me on forget. I websited them several days later. They said they could not find me. Oh wait we found your husband. Tell him to order replacement parts. Really? And what would those be? The worst product backed by even worse customer service. If possible, I would attach the truly stupid IM exchange. Well, first Chris said he was sorry and would call. So I private messaged my phone number. Today he says he can't call personally but could I leave my address ( on Yelp) so he can find my account. Do yourself a favor. We visited the Roseville store knowing just what we wanted which was the I8 we went in talk to the Kirwin who was awesome we tend to joke a lot and he just rolled with us. We got what we wanted was delivered on the date we planned they called the day before and let us know what time and that they would call before they got here. Smooth sailing and we absolutely Love our bed . Yes it was pricey but we had bought other beds that just didn't last so as the old saying goes you get what you pay for. Not only were we lied to but the first most expensive bed we bought was horrible! Then they tell you 90 day trail but do t tell you there's a stocking fee of $250. Plus not everything is exchangeable or returnable like the base and control. After complaining to customer several times they exchanged some of our items but with a charge. The second bed wasn't that great either. We got the two separate split cal Kong's and they don't stay on or close together. Quality has gone way down. We purchased our first Sleep Number in 2004 and my son still has it. I wished I would have kept it! read more

Well I'll begin by saying Ive never experienced such great customer service, and yet at the same time been so frustrated and let down. When interacting with service reps, it was great. That said: 1) We had arranged our lives to be available for delivery where we were then told that very day wasn't going to happen. It was over a week after that when it finally came 2) Do not pay the $200 delivery fee. We did, then luckily a few days later saw a special for free delivery which they happily applied. Delivery consisted of them building the mattress in our room. One might think thats a possitive...but watching them literally stuff a mattress cover with foam strips and two air mattresses had me asking myself "Why on Earth did we just pay $3,000 for this?" 3) My wife and I both tried for over 2 months to find comfort and it never happened. One morning I almost called out from work because my neck was tweaked. 4) When scheduling the mattress return, the soonest date was over a week and a half out. We paid $200 to have them come in, grab it and go. 5 minutes and they were gone. I'm pretty sure they made us wait until they could pair our pickup with a nearby delivery. I saw their truck parked down the street from us for over a half hour after they picked up our mattress. Perhaps they make their money in delivery/pick up fees. After everything was said and done, we paid $448.83 out of pocket ($190 was the cost of the protective matress sheet...yes... $190) This experience really was all smoke and mirrors. We found a Novaform matress on Costco's website on sale for $800 and its been a night and day improvement. read more

We bought our queen sleep number at the home fair a year and a half ago. We were told that we were getting a discount -- but all said and done - it was almost $5000. OK -- a ton of bells and whistles -- night lights, massage and timers - really not needed but we were led to believe that all of the sleep beds came with these features. One remote - not all that comfortable - and now the sleep number won't adjust. I was told that it would be $190 for someone to come and trouble shoot. The bed is under warranty - that much for a service call? I would never recommend this bed and I would get rid of it if it hadn't been so expensive. read more

I have to say the service at Sleep Number was great and so was the salesman. But the bed has been delivered and all I can say is I HATE IT. I have cried and cried about spending this much money on a bed that is horrible. You try and get it soft and all you do is put yourself in a hard hole with bubbles of air pockets at your head and foot. Also when you sit or lay on the bed it is very hot and you start to sweat. We bought the complete king split. I can't put the head up without hurting my back so I do what I did before and put pillows against the headboard and sit up straight. If I could return this whole bed system I would but of course you can't return it all so we will still be out a lot of money What a waste, please look around before you buy a Sleep Number. read more

I agee with Gayle-Ann. This bed is NOT comfortable, I often wake up in pain despite attempting various different settings. The bed will only raise the very top or the very bottom, adding pressure to the taillbone if it's fully raised. You cannot raise the knees as illustrations show. I added a thick pillow-top which makes it bearable though I do often have to sleep on 3 pillows as well (head, back and knees). It should have 2 separate settings but when my husband lays down it creates a pit that I am constantly rolling into. I don't know if this is because his number is softer than my setting or just a fault in the bed. ALSO, they sold us on the frame that is supposed to keep my cat from the mechanisms underneath, and this makes the bed 3 feet high. I need a stepladder to get into bed. Now, since it's not a defect, I need to pay an independent contractor to have the bed lowered. And my cat can still get under the 4 inch gap. In fact, without the frame/cover, I could crawl under the bed. It's crazy. I haven't had any help from the store or the customer care. I have cried over this, my biggest regret. read more
