Niki Bates is the Best! Thanks to The Lodge at Palisades…read moreCreek for supporting guide Niki Bates in her support of The South Fork Initiative, an organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing the South Fork of the Snake River. I bid on and won a day of guided Flyfishing on the South Fork donated by Niki Bates because she cares about this beautiful river and fishery. Our day started with a bang as 2 minutes after launching the boat a huge lightning strike forced us to pull over and wait for the storm to pass. It rained on and off all day but that didn't stop us or the fish. What a day of fishing! Niki put us on fish and knew just where to keep the boat so that our casts would be most effective. My son and I had a blast catching a lot of fish and a lot of very nice sized fish! And best of all, 75% of our catches were on the big dry fly! Whether it was the salmon fly or the golden stones, watching those cutthroats rise like a submarine to engulf the fly is an experience unmatched in any other fishery. We enjoyed Niki's knowledge, professionalism and overall commitment to having a great day on the river! I can't recommend her highly enough and recommend that you jump at the chance to fish with her. What a day! We'll be back to fish with Niki!!

The cabins give you a sense of being away and alone, but spoiled with beautiful surroundings and amenities. We love meeting other guests and hearing stories about their fishing and adventures - no one is a stranger there! I am not an expert anger, I am a novice at best, but every year I feel a bit more accomplished as I learn something new with each trip on the river. I can thank our fishing Guides for that! This year Josh and Cruz were awesome!! It bears mentioning that everyone was great, a shout out to all the staff who make this such a wonderful place to visit, and a special thank you to Charles, Tonia, Shayde and Justin who always make us feel so welcome!

Best dinner experience (delicious dinner, welcoming vibe, excellent service from waiter Tyler and…read morethe entire team) of our entire Grand Teton-area trip was at the Flying Saddle restaurant tonight. The management clearly cares, we were stuffed and happy, and the prices were still fair! Little sampling of what we ordered -- lobster stew (I literally reached in and got an entire claw for the first bite), trout amandine (gorgeous meaty double fillet), braised beef, ribeye steak with crispy onion topper -- all entrees served with plenty of vegetable and potato side. Very well-prepared cocktail according to my husband, too. We felt special, ate special, and will be back tomorrow. We're also staying at the hotel and could not be happier. Thanks all!

We loved learning that the in-door pool opened at 7am. Plenty early enough for us to still get on the road early for a leisurely drive through the Grand Teton in the morning. Our room was nice. Since we are elderly and our room was on the second floor (no elevator) , it was very convenient to have a room close to the stairs. We were amazed that there were no USB ports at all in our room. Who doesn't provide USB ports? The front desk staff were very helpful in providing information on nearby businesses where we could buy USB charging ports for our iPhone charging cables and our portable batteries. We enjoyed all the other amenities in our room. We loved the facilities themselves. The restaurant was outstanding! We were greeted enthusiastically as soon as we crossed the threshold. Our server, Jamie, was superb in every way--her demeanor, her knowledge of the food items, her interest in the fact that this is our "Birthday Road Trip" and her quality service. We are so glad Jamie raved about the Huckleberry lemonade and encouraged us to try it. That lemonade was delicious! The food was outstanding ! The portions were so large, as much as we hated to, we couldn't finish those huge steaks or all of the corn appetizer. The garlic mashed potatoes and garlic beans were delicious. What was especially beautiful about the beans is that they were cooked just right. Jamie served us bread with what she explained is their signature whipped mascarpone cream with honey . It was so very good. We loved being in the restaurant and lingered after our dinner. We loved the ambiance, the service (Jamie helped us celebrate our birthdays), the music playing in the background, the room temperature and the fire burning in the fireplace. It was a wonderful dining experience and we hated to have it end. Looking forward to breakfast in the morning.

It's very close to Palisades Lake; a huge expanse of blue water surrounded by breathtaking scenery courtesy of the Teton Mountains. If John Denver were alive, he would probably come here often. The restaurant is actually called "Brenthoven's." The menu is immediately eclectic and gives little hints that the chef- who also runs the bar- knows what he's doing. It's a favorite among backcountry pilots- the reason I was there- and is not only a great little restaurant, but is also a happening bar with an unlikely, interesting clientele. There were 6 of us for dinner, and I have to be honest: nothing was even close to mediocre. All the dishes were simply out of this world. Delicate flavors, bold swaths of color, perfect preparation, world-class presentation. It was amazing. Highlights: The pumpkin soup is like nothing I've ever had. Forget what it's called. Just know it's one of the tastiest little cups of anything you'll ever have the privilege to eat. The Cod Parmesan is the star here. It's a delicate, souffle-like concoction, with a beautiful light cod flavor and a perfect texture. The Parmesan adds JUST the right amount of counterbalance to the cod, along with a myriad of other ingredients. This is the stuff of dreams. I'd fly to Wyoming just to have this. The steak (Rib-eye) was like butter and with enough flavor to satisfy an Argentinian escaping from a vegetarian fat farm. Just excellent. The salads were fresh and crisp and the bread was just--baked. I'm told the drinks in the bar are extra strong...for what that's worth. This is a world-class gourmet restaurant hiding among the cowboy-pseudo-western trappings of Wyoming. Don't let the location fool you, the Nordic Inn could be numbered among the truly great restaurants in the West. It was that good.

This was my first time staying in an honest to goodness Conestoga wagon, and it was truly luxurious. Not words I ever imagined typing. Pulling into Moose Creek Ranch was not immediately remarkable, but beginning to walk the grounds, I felt the persistent mountain breeze, heard the babbling Trail Creek, and saw the peaceful natural surroundings and well-manicured grounds all commanding my recognition. Then there were the comfortable environs of the ranch buildings, inclusive of the cozy lodge room, a game area, and a spot for breakfast, all with a chill music soundtrack wafting through. The staff were friendly through and through. We took advantage of a trail ride with Biscuit, our wrangler, the morning of the 4th of July, and enjoyed his capable, humorous guidance through a forest trail near the Ranch, capably tailed by Rooster the resident corralling canine. And now back to the Conestoga wagon. These things boasted bunk beds and a king size, with a full bathroom, small sitting area, pre-stocked mini bar with room for your own items, plentiful plugs/USB ports, and a highly capable mini-split AC system. Ridiculous (in a good way)! If the original Westward Ho movement had these things, Manifest Destiny would have hinged on thread-count, and we'd have never made it past Ohio. These things would be the Airstreams of the 1800s. Loved the experience. This might be the experience you needed, even if you didn't know it.
