Checking in was easy, we were dropped off by our ride share right in front of the lobby doors. We were greeted right away and were given a full rundown, with maps, which I really appreciate. We walked to our cabin and although I didn't request a "creekside" cabin, the one they gave us still had views of the nature walk and creek. This was quite amazing when we woke up early one day for a tour (which we also booked through the hotel) and there was a family of otters in the water. Swoon!!! The room was lovely, decorated in a rustic, Western way. It was very clean and smelled nice. The bed was super comfortable. We like the size of the bathroom and the nice flow of hot water. I will agree that there was a little wear and tear with some wallpaper but I see that all the time, even at "fancier" places than this one. We had an issue with our toilet but it was fixed within an hour. I will say the biggest complaint I would have is the three windows on the wall across from the bed. I thought it wouldn't be a problem for us since we were visiting in the off season but wow does the sun beam down on you through those three little windows. We didn't eat here except for the free breakfasts because, again, off season. I loved the little buffet they had! There were rotating specialty items and an omelet station on weekdays. The food was good for a free breakfast buffet. The people working were also so kind and friendly. We utilized the hot tub and the sauna two of our three nights. We thought it was lovely and had a great time. I will definitely stay here again when back in Jackson.

The attitude that they were doing me a favor was quite unexpected at the hotel price point. Shuttle is available but unless you tip the drivers don't expect much availability. Overall, the hotel is overpriced. I will not stay here again. I expect better service for what I paid. Lastly, I asked to speak to a manager and was told "the manager is busy". The inspiration for The Wort Hotel was Charles Wort, a homesteader who arrived in Jackson Hole in the 1890's. Staking claim just outside modern day Jackson, Charles and his wife had 2 sons. In 1917, Wort bought 4 lots in downtown Jackson, Wyoming. He used this as a corral adjacent to a livery stable. From 1932 to 1940, the family operated what is now Signal Mountain Lodge in Grand Teton National Park. Through the sale of this facility, the family financed construction of their dream; a luxury hotel in downtown Jackson, WY. Original construction costs were approximately $90,000, and the hotel officially opened in the late summer of 1941.

All I knew about it was that it was located in Grand Teton National Park. Driving to it you realize you're very isolated being that it is located about 20 minutes from Jackson. The cabins are part of a greater operation. They share the grounds with Dornan's Pizza and Pasta, grocery store, wine shop, and gift shop. I'll review each individually in this review. The cabins are duplexes that are grouped together in a small circle and are named. We stayed in Osprey. Each has a small porch with a charcoal grill for your barbecuing pleasure, and an ashtray if that's your thing.The decor is comfortable and inviting. The only part of the cabin that has carpet is the bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, stove, and oven with basic cooking apparatus. The living room has a sofa bed and two very large comfortable chairs. There is also this thing called a telephone, but there isn't a tv. The wifi signal is strong and we were able to stream movies with no issues. The Snake River and Grand Tetons are behind the cabins. The view can be pretty incredible depending on the weather. It rained and snowed most of the time during our stay. If you don't feel like cooking, Dornan's Pizza and Pasta is a short walk. The food is pretty good. I had the vegetarian Stromboli and the Mrs. had a pizza. The restaurant also has a bar. If you want booze, there is a wine shop that has a really good selection of wine, beer, and hard alcohol. The prices are pretty reasonable. FYI-Wyoming is one of those states that has archaic liquor laws. Booze can't mingle with regular groceries. There is also a small grocery store and deli that makes incredible sandwiches. I suggest grabbing a sandwich to take with you when explore Yellowstone or the Grand Tetons. If you need souvenirs, Dornan's has that covered as well. You can even buy gas at a rather reasonable price. As accommodation prices go, Dornan's cabins are lower compared to the rest of the area. You don't get the glitz and glamour that is Jackson Hole, but you get peace and quiet. The staff were all very nice as well.

These cabins are located just outside the south entrance to Grand Teton, in a little village complex that includes a gas station, grocery store, liquor store, and a couple of restaurants. The cabins themselves are very comfortable, definitely an upscale feel, similar to what you'd find at Jenny Lake, but for half the price. One and two bedroom options are available, and each includes a full kitchen, dining table, bathroom, and living room with a pull-out sofa bed. There are only 12 cabins total (8 one-bedroom and 4 two-bedroom). If you're planning a trip, book early because they sell out fast.

I woke my family up to see There is a game room which my son loved hanging out in so he can play chess with other guests The food was tasty. We had a cook out for one of the dinners along w line dancing which was fun. There isn't much action past 830 and you can't get room service or a drink past 9pm BUT, it isn't that big of a deal since it's so quiet here. The only thing that is a little annoying is that the system they have is an iPad based one. If you aren't used to having to use that for TV/Media there can be a slight learning curve. It's not that big of an issue and all in all that is a minimal thing. This place is very special and I highly recommend!
