Stopped here for lunch after picking up a box of peaches on our way to Arizona. The positive yelp rating made it easy. This is a quaint well established shop with great pastries( blackberry and cherry danish was fabulous), and sandwiches. The BLAT was excellent. Friendly home town atmosphere and food you just can't get at a chain. Clean restroom. Easy parking on the street. Cute town center. We will make this a regular stop on our return trip home from our yearly summer vacation in Colorado. read more

We stopped by this super cute bakery as we were heading home to Denver. I was in the mood for a sandwich and opted for the veggie - probably one of the best food choices I have ever made!! The hummus was delicious, the veggies were perfectly fresh and the sprinkle of dill was a great touch! The staff was also very friendly!! We stayed in Palisade overnight on our way to Denver and had breakfast at Slice O Life. All pastries looked delicious and it was very difficult to choose! I ended up getting the Chocolattine, the berry cup and the peach scone, all heavenly. Ended up going back for lunch too. read more

While making a long road trip from Nashville to Las Vegas, we got hungry around Clifton, CO. When we looked on Yelp to find a place to eat off the 70, I saw great reviews for Palisade Cafe, so we decided to stop there. When we got there it was still closed because it was a little early, but there was this bakery right next store ... Slice O' life bakery, so we went there. I have never been in a better bakery in my life. The cookies, dessert bars, pastries, were absolutely to die for! We ended up buying a box of assorted goodies to accompany us the rest of the way to Las Vegas. I think my favorite was the peanut butter bar, but there was a cheesecake type confection that didn't make it too far down the road. The prices were so low it defied belief (I am from Los Angeles, so they may not be low to folks not used to high prices) each item averaging around two dollars. I swear I would consider going all the way to Palisade CO just to go back to that bakery! read more

We stopped in here after our 3-hour drive to Palisade, and again the next morning for a fresh cup of coffee. The coffee was delicious and smooth and I had a veggie sandwich, which while not anything fancy, had fresh veggies (including ripe tomatoes) and lots of cheese. We took home a small loaf of banana-peach bread. Everyone we talked to was delighful. I would absolutely recommend on your trip into Palisade. read more

Slice O Life Bakery is Palisade in a nutshell. It's sweet, a little quirky and it always feels like home here. Every winter they close for a break and the locals experience withdrawals from their heavenly baked goods. The assortment of goodies in the bakery case is always changing, but ask the Slice Girls what's new or won't be around tomorrow and they'll tell you. Came in for a breakfast burrito and when I ordered one they told me it was in the refrigerator behind me. That should have been my sign to walk out. I was instructed how to heat the burrito in the microwave myself. Wtf?? $5 for a burrito I have to heat myself in a microwave? I'm sure the baked goods are fine, but I won't come back here. I'd rate this the best bakery in Mesa County. Not only do they have truly original, fantastically delicious, fresh-made baked goods using local product, but Slice of Life is hands down the most reasonably-priced bakery in the area as well. We routinely oder the Mexican Mocha cake for my birthday, but have to order it a month early and freeze it because Slice of Life closes from Jan-March and my birthday is in January. But it's well worth doing to get a real, down-to-earth cake made by someone who really cares about using the best ingredients and turning our products with a truly home-made taste. read more

The goodies here are so delicious, Mary and her staff are incredibly friendly, warm, and the atmosphere in this small-town bakery is nothing less than perfect. If you're expecting a quaint, surprisingly excellent stop look no further. I had to move away and when I was pregnant with one of my kids I made my husband drive for hours to take me here and eat because I missed the food so much. This bakery is excellent. read more
