There were four of us that day. We had just finished the first stop on our wine tour when our guide said it would be 25 minutes until the next location opened. "Hey, do you guys like pie?" Was his question. I assume that was rhetorical, because we gave him a resounding "Yes!" We were welcomed in and got a full rundown of all the wonderful things they make. The case and freezer had many selections. This was when we heard a new term to us, "pie shots." Tiny two-bite pies in a variety of flavors. My husband and I got a six-pack and my brother-in-law and sis-in-law also got a six-pack. We went outside and enjoyed our treat at the table on the porch. We brought the remaining with us to have throughout the day. I especially liked it because we could try a bunch of flavors. This was a worthy stop. read more

Great spot! We stopped by while biking on the Fruit & Wine Byway on a very hot day. We were immediately greeted by a friendly employee who asked if she could refill our water bottles with some ice water. Such a nice gesture! We got a breakfast hand pie and it was delicious. This has to be the worst tasting pies I have ever had. The key lime was a weird color and was terrible. The chocolate cream pie was equally just as bad. The crust on both was hard and not what a pie crust should be like. I think the recipe needs to be revamped for the pie crust for sure and for the pie fillings as well. Don't just make pies for the sake of saying you have a pie shop in Palisade . Make a great pie or at least a good pie. Please do some taste testing of your pies every once in a while . This is my favorite stop in Palisade by far! If you love homemade baked goods and pies, this is definitely a stop you should put on your list when in Palisade. So many different pies to choose from. Fruit pies, cream pies and even savory hand pies. The pie shop has small pies, large pies, and small pie shots-which are basically like little mini cupcake size pies. They have ice cream and places to sit outside if you are interested in staying to enjoy your pie a la mode! They also have these awesome jars of cookies, even several flavors of gluten free cookies. The owner is super friendly and shared information about her pies so passionately. I enjoyed an apple pie and a chocolate chip cookie from the Palisade Pie Shop. If you are in Palisade, you have something peachy; after all, this is a peach lovers' paradise! After visiting Anita's other store, I came to this place to have a slice of pie before Id head out to my winery hunting. And yup, I did get me a peach pie. What else, right? I was shocked to find out that this pie shop only has 3.5 stars on Yelp. To me, it's got all the elements to have at least 4-star review. It's got a nice/cute/quaint ambiance inside, great selections of cookies/pastries/pies (a slice of my peach pie was only $4.5) and their quality ingredients and great outdoor seating areas to name a few. And it's surrounded by peach orchard after another. The two ladies there were very accommodating and courteous. I guess this store simply needs more visits by Yelpers from big cities like Denver. Wonderful people, wonderful service, so friendly and helpful. We're from out of state and found this awesome place using an app we have for camping. Really. They are out of town a bit, but not far and so very worth the very short drive. AND then there are their awesome pies. OMG! They are wonderful! We had a peach/ strawberry pie. I know it sounds weird, but it's to die for. So if you're coming down I-70 or US 6, take the time to pull off the highway for a bit and do yourself a wonderful favor. We were driving from Los Angeles to Denver and decided we had to have a peach pie. I know Palisade is famous for peaches so we scoped out a place. It's a quaint charming little house and as soon as you walk it, the incredible aroma of freshly baked fruit pies welcomed us inside. A delightful lady emerged from the kitchen and greeted us warmly. We got 2 slices of peach pie, one ala mode and coffee. It was love at first bite!! I've never tasted anything so buttery, fresh and delicious. And to add to the charm it's served on actual China plates with a real fork. Not paper plates with plastic utensils. We ate peacefully in the patio outside, gazing at the surrounding peach tree orchard. The lady came out once to check with us to make sure everything was great, and it was! My wife and I stopped at this business (Palisade Pies) at the recommendation of others. The pies were expensive but we decided to buy a couple. The clerk selected the two varieties from inventory we requested and packaged them for us in a plastic bag. The next day, after returning to Denver, we discovered one of the pies had a significant amount of mold on the crust. I called the business and gave them the purchase info and date code on the bottom of the pie tin. Was told the owner would call back soon to discuss and remedy the issue. Three days later and still no call....and this is the off-season (Oct). Another follow-up call was not enough to prompt action. Fortunately the product was paid for with a credit card so we'll get a credit regardless. I understand unintended things happen in business and always try to fairly work with merchants when problems come up. This place has a lack of customer service at the very least and perhaps much worse issues. Inspect your merchandise before paying for! Better yet...find another local merchant. read more

We passed this place and thought we would try it, especially since the peaches in Palisades are so good! We arrived at 4:40 (they close at 5) and it was very apparent that the lady (possibly owner) did not want to be bothered. Complete attitude towards us and pointed us to a rack that had small pies to go. We were hoping to have a slice of pie with ice cream, but again she couldn't be bother (or friendly for that matter). Super friendly pie store (don't you love having a pie place in town??). You can eat in at one of a few tables, eat out on the small patio, or take home. Pies are available whole or by the slice (they will cut open any pie for you!). They also make "hand pies" that are very delicious (especially if you like pie crust - you get more on the hand pie than on the slice). Their fruit pies use Grand Valley fruits whenever possible. This is how local they are - I asked if the cherry pie used their cherries. They looked a little chagrined and said - no, the cherries are from my uncle who lives about a mile away. That is LOCAL to me! I will admit that I haven't tried their cream or cheese pies yet. I have not gotten past the wonderful fruit pies: cherry, caramel apple, peach, peach rhubarb, strawberry rhubarb, peach and triple berry. Every one is a winner. I can give no higher praise than to tell you that my mother in law (a pretty good pie baker, herself) praises the pie crust here - and says the baker has "a lighter hand with pastry than I do". This is a woman who I have heard complain about anyone else's pastry for more years than I want to tell you. So, MIL gets pies and especially the hand pies everytime I go by Palisade Pies. And - here is an added bonus. The best milkshakes in the valley. Secret ingredient - heavy cream added in to the shake. This is a luxurious treat! And there are cones, scoops, root beer floats also. And - as I said - very friendly people. This is a family run place and you will get to see mom, dad and kids around. Mom is the baker - dad is the grower. But everyone pitches in! read more

Really disappointing experience. We'd met Kelly of Palisade Pies at a local holiday fair and were so excited that she was willing to make us a Rhubarb pie, my husband's favorite but something that can be hard to find. We took her card and several days later, called to order the pie. The phone call alone set off some alarm bells for me. Not very polite on the phone, hard to follow, not very professional, never took my name or my number. We agreed (and I reiterated several times) that the pie would be ready for pick up 5 days later after 2pm. My husband and I live nearly and hour away so we needed to arrange the pick-up for when we would be in her neck of the woods. I hung up the phone concerned and uncertain that this easy plan would not come to pass and sadly, I was right. Five days later, my husband and I showed up to Palisade Pies as agreed and he was so excited to finally have a rhubarb pie. A friendly gentleman who was tending to something in the back came up to help us, but was unable to find our pie. I had that sinking feeling in my gut; given how the phone call alone went, my intuition about it all was coming to pass. He then went to find Kelly, who had taken the order by phone. She came to the front to tell us that no pie had been made. ARRGH. Apparently there had been an issue with the heating that day and because of that, she was unable to make the pie. We understand that things go wrong, but SO many things could have been done to remedy the situation. Had she taken my name/number, she could could have called to tell me that morning rather than have us drive all the way to her for no pie. She could have perhaps not waited until the day of to bake the pie. She could have offered us anything for our trouble, rather than charge us full price for the other few things we picked up there to purchase with our pie. At the very least, the bare minimum, she could have APOLOGIZED, which never happened. Not once. This was the most shocking and disappointing. She spent the entire time we were there ranting and raving about the problems there with the heat, ranting to the man in the store, blaming it on someone else, etc. It was just awful. On principle, we didn't want to buy a thing at that point but living in a remote area and this being our one day out to get all supplies for the week, we bought a few things there. But no 'thank you', no 'I'm sorry', no 'please let me give you something for your trouble'. Nothing. Nada. We love to support independent businesses but it is so, so disappointing when your experience with them is this bad. We are new to the area and were hoping to be long-term patrons of a wonderful, local pie place. Sadly, we won't be back to this one. read more
