Our 8 foot tall glass exterior door had the metal strip with the door handle completely pull off the glass. We researched a replacement at Home Depot and the cost for the door alone was 4,400 dollars. We called on the weekend and they arrived on Monday! In order to understand my review, you must first understand me. I am meticulous with details and am a perfectionist by nature. I don't usually expect providers to be the same way but Michael at Slider Door Guru is! Let me explain. Initially, my sliding door took: the might of Hercules, the will of the little train that could, and the courage of a firefighter, to open. Over the years, the track had become seriously worn; as a result, we just expected to have to buy and replace the whole door and screen with a completely new one. My whole family HATED having to open it because of the effort it took to get it open. We knew we needed an expert to help us. Luckily, we stumbled upon Slider Door Guru! Michael assured me that a replacement wasn't necessary and that he could fix ours. After wrestling with the stubborn slider for several months, I had my doubts! From start to finish, Michael was patient, informative, professional and available for any question that you have for glass, sliding door fix, repair and or replacement. Our encounter started by asking how much to make our sliding door open more easily. He gave us the quote and was going to schedule it but our initial actual hope was to get a newer dual pane glass sliding door. He asked questions and asked for pictures of our existing single pane door. He unfortunately said that it looked like our sliding door frames were too old since they were the original slider that was here since 1972 to be able to accept a newer type of sliding door. We were of course disappointed but accepted that it could not happen. (BTW - A new total sliding door remodel was not possible due to a patio roof so close to the existing sliding door frame) We said thank you and would get back to him to schedule adjusting or fixing the door rollers and the lock. A couple days later, Michael wrote to us saying that he saw a sliding door frame for sale like the one we had but it looked like it had old dual pane panels and that he would look at them to replace the old panels with new ones. Long story short, he bought the sliding door panels, put new dual paned low-e glass in both sections, new rollers and installed these NEW doors in less than a 1/2 hour! He adjusted the lock which did not work well before, cleaned the new glass panels and now it looks and works great! He even fixed two other sliding doors that did not lock or roll very well. Now they all roll well and lock like they should. They all work perfectly! Michael is an awesome, very personable person who works fast, efficiently, meticulously and definitely does what it takes to please his customers! I couldn't be happier with this company. They were super responsive, on time, efficient, knowledgeable, and skilled. I have an ancient (1957) steel Arcadia door that I'm not sure has ever had the rollers replaced - at least not in the last 25 years. They just replaced the rollers and retrofit a new handle for me because the lock on my old one was worn out. The door now opens with one finger. I am amazed and inordinately excited about it (after having to lift the door two-handed to open and close it for the last couple of years), and it cost a 10th or a 15th of what it would cost to replace the door.
