First visit to Slims. Got there around noon on a Tuesday and shortly after I was seated there was a waiting line for seating. Looked like most of the guests were locals. Simple concrete block building that reminds me of the old Florida restaurants of my youth. My kind of place. The service was great, My server, Patty, made sure my iced tea was always filled when I was ready. The tea was very good. I tried my usual first visit to a BBQ Restaurant selections. Next time I will try the pork and chicken. I ordered the Lunch combo plate with St Louis Ribs and Brisket. For sides I got the green beans and cole slaw. The ribs were cooked to perfection not over or undercooked, with great flavor. The brisket had great smoke ring and was tender, flavorful and the slices were very good. I also used their spicy BBQ Sauce. It was very good on both of the meats. They also have a sweet BBQ sauce that I didn't try. Now the sides. The Cole slaw was good, but it is a little sweet for me. Now, the green beans. My mama would say, they were undercooked. Not crunchy like I have had in some restaurants, but not cooked like how I like them and how I cook them at home. The meal also comes with toasted garlic bread. If you like good BBQ, and are in the area, I recommend you give them a try. My husband ordered a taco salad with brisket (we did not realize there would be a $7 up charge for certain meats) and I asked for a loaded potato with pulled pork on it. I used to order this often back where we lived. It was called a pig in the patch. It was delicious and I ate every bit of it! The place was filling up but the waitresses were on top of their game! From the moment you walk in, you are greeted warmly and feel very welcome. Not a huge menu, but it would seem they have mastered all that they do offer. The turkey plate was delicious along with some of the best fried okra I have every had. Its very a very down home feel and the ambiance is like you are eating in someone's kitchen. My husband and I gave this place a go due to a recommendation! The food is a bit pricey for the location but the sides were really good. All of the barbecue itself was a bit dry and bland and the waitress even mentioned that the sliced meat was more bland which was kinda shocking that they know that and acknowledged it...The sides and dessert however were great. Service was awesome and the place was cute for the area. I doubt we'll be back because the barbecue was just a bit dry and eh for the price but not terrible. Seems to be a local hotspot though so to each their own! No serious complaints we can just barbecue better at home. read more

TL;DR We went on a Saturday evening at 6PM and they were sold out of everything BBQ. Apparently it happens every Saturday, so avoid going to this business on that day. Longer version: we were promptly greeted on arrival and seated within a few minute. It's a simple space made of wood table and benches. Service was friendly and quick. But after we were served our drinks, the waitress told us they were out of most BBQ items, only sliced meat left. I would have liked to bed told that as we arrived. I came to this restaurant to get BBQ meat and they don't have it. Since we were already seated and having drinks we decided to proceed with what was remaining. We told the sliced pork and beef, both were well cooked but very bland. One of us got the chicken which was a bit more interesting. I found my fries to be a bit undercooked. We had a recommendation from Rick the captain of the Airboat tour, to try this place for lunch. It was WONDERFUL! We had the ribs, perfect smoke ring, just enough tug, homemade sauce. BBQ beans, coke slaw, burgers, and smoked turkey on grilled Texas toast. Justin one of the owners even brought out complimentary burnt ends for the table! Lacey, our server was a step ahead of all of our needs, before we even knew we needed them. My brother even bought me a bottle of sauce to take back to my smoker in Michigan. Delicious food and amazing service. Went to this local BBQ with a group of 11 people from all over FL, and no one was disappointed! We had ribs, shrimps and brisket and it was all good. Back in the area again. Two stops this week at Slim's. This is an amazingly friendly place with great food. Yesterday we had at the table chicken half, two meat combo and sliced turkey plate. All the meats are good and the slaw and beans are excellent. Today I broke the mold and had a shrimp chef salad (yes I had a physical last week and have some things to improve) which was huge with 12 grilled shrimp seasoned so nice. The others were able to have brisket or another two met combo. Tea was endless and service was great. Extremely friendly and seem to know lol the regulars by name. Ate here with my brother and his wife as we were passing through town during lunchtime. It is a nice Florida style BBQ joint with a friendly staff. The decor is very southern and is what you would expect. The table we were sat at was nice, and it was clean as were the menus. The restaurant as a whole looked clean and was comfortable. The food prices were very reasonable. We ate the lighter fair offerings they had at lunchtime, ranging from $7.99-$10.99. I order the spare ribs, beans and slaw. The ribs were very delicious with just the right ammount of smoke. The beans were amazing, having small pieces of pork throughout. The slaw was exceptionally delicious with sweetness that balanced the smokiness of the ribs, and tang from the beans. All in all it was a great meal with awesome food, and a fast friendly wait staff. We stopped at Slims as we were driving on 70 through Arcadia. It's an old Florida barbecue restaurant with picnic tables inside. The staff was super friendly. My wife and I got the combo plate with brisket, ribs, and pork. We also got the Friday okra and baked potatoes sides. the combo was more than we could both finish. The brisket was amazing. The ribs were dry rub with a hint of pepper very good barbecue. The garlic bread was awesome !! We brought home the orange cheesecake try it. read more

My wife had ribs and I had a burger. Both were good but the ribs were superior. I had fries and slaw. The slaw was great and the fries were hot and crisp. This is a small place and we were lucky to get seats. If you are affected by hard wooden seats, make sure you get a booth with padded seats. The food here is OUTSTANDING! The Cole slaw I could eat a whole bucket full of it and the ladies who answer the phone and cash you out are all nice. The pulled pork sandwich with the Cole slaw is chefs kiss. It's my go to order. And you can't go wrong with a slice of their key lime pie. I have only done take out so I can't say on their sit down service but the one time I picked up my order, the inside of the restaurant was nice and cozy. Smelled great in there as well. read more
