I ordered Sling with the sole intent of using it to watch the BYU versus Utah game. A few minutes before the game began, I went on and pushed record for that game. Later that evening, I came back to watch it, and it had not recorded the game. So, cancel my Sling and get a full refund. They have no phone number, and their chat is ridiculous. I tried five times to connect with a human, waiting for a combined total of over an hour. Poor service!! Poor quality. Poor value. In theory, sling is the perfect first service you'll join when you decide to "cut the cord". It's simple with only two package options and I think whichever one you choose you'll get enough content to make it worth it. But this company is shady for new sign-ups. When I signed up I was supposed to receive a a dvr and an indoor antenna for local stations. It took six weeks before I received my equipment and that was after pushing their "chat only" support for answers. Of course these potential delays were never mentioned at the time of ordering. In fact, their first email to me was that I would be receiving a shipping confirmation very soon.. As for the actual streaming experience Just know that you'll never get the great channel guide and DVR integration with ANY non-cable / satellite service. It will take time (and some frustration) getting used to Sling's TV guide. You'll learn to deal with their annoyances over time. Setting up the indoor antenna and dvr was painfull and I basically only get PBS and FOX because of distance from the main station towers. I'll need a more expensive antenna to get CBS and ABC... In summation, Sling gives you the basic channels that you loved on Cable at a substantial discount. Three stars is fair. read more

It's like the ghetto cable TV company which can be workable if you're cool w/ that. But the false advertising of channels available is bs, plus there's a bunch of glitches you eventually get used to. I have to keep disconnecting because the sound goes out (wish I could post a video sample) or icons aren't showing or freezes, tiles, etc. Has a TV guide schedule which is great, you can set Fav's with. I've got the Blue and Orange pkg, has some local channels, some cable tv channels and a ton of garbage channels but can be filtered out if setting Favorites up. Comes w/ waaaay more garbage channels than the pkg shows. Most airings are East Coast time and some West coast time, super annoying being in the West - it's only workable for me if I pay more for DVR storage. Lots of commercials that cut into the show at the WRONG time, plus show parts are cut out probably due to the added commercial insertions (figured this out when watching the beginning show when it starts w/ 'last week on...' w/ things that were NOT shown the prior week. Commercials obviously inserted rather than at the planned time originally set). Sling is a pain in the *** but once you get used to it it's workable. FALSE ADVERTISING on channels they claim come w/ the Orange & Blue pkg (some examples below). I liked Sling but I guess they decided they did'nt like me and cancelled my automatically paid monthly service with little notice. Th email they sent me the day prior (which I did not know about and later), said I had to "resubscribe". After several attempts with a message (every time) to the effect that the attempt did not process, I find several $1 test amounts applied to the same credit card I have been using, all along. This is a unethical and scammy company auto restarted my subscription a year after I cancelled it and then refuse to refund me for 4 months of fraudulent charges made by themselves. Signing up with Sling TV proved to be a costly mistake. I signed up for the trial month ($29.43). I decided to not use SlingTV, and went with YouTube TV for service. I cancelled my SlingTV account a week of two later using the On-line cancellation. The next month, I was charged the full monthly rate for service ($58.85). I called SlingTV, after receiving the CC bill, and was assured the account was cancelled; however, this turned out to be a few days AFTER SlingTV had charged me for another month service ($58.85). I called SlingTV again and the service rep said my account was only cancelled after I called them, and they will not refund any of the service payments, even though I have never used the SlingTV service. . So the moral of the story is when you cancel service with SlingTV, CALL them and make sure it is cancelled, and have them remove your CC info from their billing system. . read more

I was a customer of sling for years, and decided to start using a VPN for added protection and they would not allow access to the service for other devices in the household. After contacting the support line a few times with our support solutions, basically saying I was not able to use the service with the use of a VPN as they wouldn't know who and where would be using the account. I should be able to use the account as I see for a I am the one spending the money for the service. I signed up for SLING BLUE plus ORANGE services because I wanted to watch the Baltimore vs Kansas City NFL game. The game is on a couple of different analog TV channels but I can't get analog TV in my area. So I signed up for SLING. It turns out that SLING doesn't offer the game. So I tried to cancel my subscription on the same day I signed up. Even though I did not use any of the Sling service they say that they will charge me for one month of service anyway. I communicated with their customer service and they state that they will charge me for one month regardless if I cancel two minutes after signing up. That is just BS. So, just a heads up. Be careful that you don't lose $60 just to find out that Sling service does not provide you with a certain over-the-air TV service. The sling studio streaming system worked until eight months after purchase, could not get any support before the warranty ran out, it requires constant rebooting, etc. slipping offline repeatedly! The support is practically non-existent, and the key factor is the "camera links" needed to make the system operational are on "back order" and cannot be purchased anywhere (12-16 weeks projected delivery time).! With out these devices the sling studio "hub" is nothing but an expensive "paper weight! I'd suggest going with black magic system, there are no "camera links" required, and you can get support,etc! Ok, so I'm a geek with time on my hands. What other way spend my time at work than to watch my Tivo my Slingbox. Oh yes, I'm sure you've heard radio ads for the Slingbox, and it's all true. The Slingbox streams your TV/Tivo to your computer over internet. You can stream your TV to your laptop or even your pda. (but it looks like they're going to charge for pda client at the end of april) The video quality is pretty good; not as good as your real TV, but it's good enough. It's streaming video, what'd you expect? But to get full use of the Slingbox, you should have a few things in place. 1. Tivo. Getting a Slingbox just to watch live TV is not worth it. You can fully control your Tivo without any problems. It even gives you a Tivo remote GUI so it's just like sitting in front of your TV. 2. You need a home network with an static IP address with at least 300 kbps upload speed. The SlingPlayer connects to your network at home via static ip and anything slower than 300 kbps degrades the picture quality. 3. Need access to port 5901. By default, the Slingbox streams over port 5901. read more

Sling TV service is terrible. They make it almost impossible to talk to a live person. They want everything done online. They do not prorate billing and continued billing for the NBA package after the season ended. I tried to cancel online and the NBA league pass section of the site would not let me deselect the service. I had to do a online chat to cancel. I did the chat on June 18th. My billing cycle started on the 17th. One day before. They refused to refund and charged me another full month. That alone seems like a scam. Supper easy to sign up, super had to cancel. But the real scam is that they are not offering me any services at all for the extra charges they refuse to refund. The NBA Season is over and the channels they are still charging me for have no content on them! They are blank screens. I shouldn't have to cancel. The subscription should have ended when the season was over. Sling is a poor value based on cost to content of new competitors. And their customer service is absolutely horrible. I am a new customer to Sling and did the 3 months prepaid offer and got the indoor antenna and air TV for $99 only to find out after going all over my house that the indoor antenna would not work. I called the customer service line and asked if I would be able to send the equipment back and receive a refund as the antenna did not work in my house (I live in a mobile home so visibility to the network antennas is poor). Apparently it is in their policy that you "agree" to that refunds will not be issued since it is a prepay service. The rep that I spoke to asked if I checked if I needed an indoor or outdoor antenna, when I mentioned that was not listed anywhere, she said I needed an outdoor antenna. I asked to speak to a supervisor as it is poor customer service to not acknowledge a refund especially if the offer details didn't state to check what type of antenna needed in your area. The supervisor walked me thru 5 different links (from the offer details) on how to find out if my house needed an indoor or outdoor antenna. Why should the customer need to go thru all these hoops to see if the offer is applicable to them. It should specifically state in the offer details to "check here if your address needs an indoor or outdoor antenna". Since it didn't I am now stuck with a $99 bill and equipment I do not need. I can't believe what poor customer service Sling Media has. I cancelled my subscription on 8/24 and they billed my CC for another month on 8/26. So far, I've been on the phone for 46 minutes. The Customer Service Rep refused to refund me stating that my cancellation was the same day of renewal and that my CC charge was showing up 2 days late. I waited another 20 minutes for am appeal to a supervisor. Apparently, they only have one on staff for the evenings when we have time to deal with this stuff. He decided to credit me back my $29 but only after waiting on line for 55 minutes. I don't think I'd use this company again. Their survey consisted of one question "Did your problem get resolved?"
