As others have mentioned, the prices here are extremely high. A small Star Wars lightsaber candy was listed at $40, and a PEZ dispenser was $10. Bulk candy was priced at $40 per pound. I ended up buying some jelly beans, and about 25 pieces came out to $5.60, which is pretty unreasonable. Overall, I'd recommend saving your money and going somewhere else. At these prices, it's hard to see how this place will stay in business long-term. read more

Outrageous prices. They show a small cup of gelato for $9.00. This size of cup is usually a "kids" size in other ice cream shops. Then after saying what the heck and paying twice what I would pay at the other gelato place in town, I am served a cup that is half full! The girls working were not very friendly or helpful and the prices were outrageous. One chocolate truffle was $7.00. That's a truffle you can literally eat in one bite. Two truffles and two one-scoop gelatos were $30+ dollars. I wanted a candy bar but it was $9.99. Their prices were too high. I will never go there again. read more

Customer service was nonexistent, the cashier didn't utter a word to us & was engulfed in her phone the entire 15 minutes we were in the store. Should have been our first clue. Candy selection was immense with Jelly Belly's and the like in the self serve canisters. However, the candy was not fresh (the nice way to say it) and much of it was cheeky and stale (the realistic way to say it). $64 of subpar candy. Outrageously expensive, which I don't mind for quality candy. This place is not that. Huge disappointment. Choose something else in the street, anything is better than this spot. read more

All the reviews are right about the items being overpriced but sometimes that's just how shops are in a touristy area. Besides being pricey, the customer service is terrible. If it's empty on a Wednesday afternoon, it wouldn't kill your staff to greet us with a simple "Hi". I could overlook that but as I was checking out, the cashier said absolutely nothing the entire time until the very end just to see if I wanted a bag for my items. When I walked into SLO sweets on a crisp, chilly winter evening, I was expecting a homemade hot chocolate recipe made from a little grandma with fresh ingredients. Instead, I have been severely disappointed. I paid 5 dollars for a shameful excuse of a hot chocolate that came from a Keurig pod the hot chocolate did not taste like a little grandma made it with fresh ingredients. No no. It tasted like water with a hint of chocolate scent. I hate this place. read more

Visited 20 July 2022 After dinner we took a walk around the park area and ended up inside of SLO Sweets. If nothing else, the store is very nostalgic. There are an assortment of sweets and drinks from my childhood (I'm an 80s baby). We browsed the store but I didn't find anything that popped out to me that I'd buy. Some of my friends did buy sodas and Gelato but I didn't purchase anything. The waffle cones had some interesting flavours - orange Creamsicle, red velvet, & midnight vanilla, along with pumpkin spice, and regular. However, for the price $10 cone w/ 1 scoop, meh. I initially wanted a gelato cone. I tried the stracciatella Gelato but did not like it. It wasn't terrible but it has a too salty taste. The price did not appease me and the taste certainly turned me off from wanting to try anything else. The store is enticing but overall doesn't seem to be worth it. read more

Sups cute candy shop with a plethora of savory and sweet goodness. The layout is functional and easy to navigate any time of day. The have a cute table and chairs or two out front with the same theme as the entire building. You can find some great gifts for yourself and/or people in your life here. My sister got a terrible flavor of Lays (Mexican Chicken Tomato) as a gag gift for her best friend when we were here. Also being a classic candy stop shop they do have delights by the pound as well. So fill up a bag of dark chocolate and add some chewiness as well. S. Sweets also doubles as a cafe and ice cream parlor, so you might be here a while and actually end up grabbing a snickers... They are a little on the pricey side which is why I only got one box of dots rather than my usually three, but the service is very sweet and with care. First, I appreciated that they had a lot of sweets that I hadn't seen in a while. On top of that they had flavors of Lay's from Asia that I hadn't seen, even in Asian markets. I'm not one for sweets but I did buy those chips. On top of that, I've had their gelato which definitely has that premium that comes with a small town that's catered to tourists. Not the best, not the worst but a little on the steep side. Still the staff there has always been nice and I didn't realize that I was past closing time when they rang me up the last time I was there. This place has so much potential.... A candy shop right in the middle of a cute town square. Unfortunately, it fails. The candy looks OLD and unappetizing. The M&Ms (in clear dispensers) were cracked and discolored and looked like they'd been there for years. Dust covered much of the displays. There were some novelty items that looked like they had been there for 20 years. The generic boxed candy may have been a safer bet, but it was ridiculously overpriced, like $8 for a standard sized box of junior mints. There were also some really strange items, like "breast cancer awareness" toys (hard to explain, but they were off.) We walked out without buying anything, and saw many other customers do the same. If the current, stale candy is thrown away and replaced with fresh candy, this place would be great! read more

First, the young girl that was working the counter was a very 'unhappy' person. She didn't say a word to me during the entire transaction of my purchase. As I was leaving I told her she should really at least say thank you to which she let out a very loud sigh and rolled her eyes directly at me. Second, the store itself is very unimpressive and had a lot of open space. I've been to the SLO location and it is so much nicer. The Paso location has absolutely no character to it. I went in for a stash of jelly belly's... there were a few containers of my favorite flavors completely empty and 2 of the 4 flavors I did get were very stale and hurt my teeth. Broken speakers playing music. The TV screen in the back is broken. The candy is waaaaay overpriced. All the candy looks pretty old. The worker really doesn't seem to care but I don't blame them because you can tell that whoever own this place has zero care about this place succeeding. maybe at one time they cared, but it is clear that this place is falling apart...and I'm assuming it's going to be closing down eventually... The final straw was trying charge us $13 for the smallest bag of candy corn. Like any other candy store I've ever been in my life would've charged me $2-3 for that little bag and I would've been OK with it but $13 is absolute highway robbery. Very expensive (it's $5.99 PER PIECE- and they are just normal-sized pieces - of chocolate) and the chocolate didn't taste fresh to me. In fact, both of my pieces (one toffee, one almond bark) tasted like cleaning solution - as if someone moved the chocolate while wearing cleaning gloves or something! Another disappointing ice cream spot in Paso Robles. For a town with such an awesome restaurant scene, i'm really dissapointed with ice cream here. First we went to some sheep milk place that was terrible during the summer. Now, we tried SLO Sweets and it was not any better. Here's my problem. First off, one scoop of ice cream is $8. That is highway robbery. However, you can have 3 scoops in a shake for $10. Therefore, since that was a better deal, we went with that. The ice cream was not too good after tasting 2 of them, but it was fine for what we were looking for. However, the shake is terrible. It may be because they put NO milk in it. They just added some water (from a half open bottle) to the ice cream and mixed it. This was not good. Probably the worst shake I have ever had. I doubt this shop will be around for long, and justifiably so. Maybe I should rent the location and open a real ice cream shop. I think it would do very well!! read more

The dude and I came here as we were walking along the plaza on 01/11/21 and decided to come in and check out this store. We were not greeted when we entered as staff was helping other customers which is totally understandable! The store has a lot of goodies as pictured! They have a lot of name brand items that will definitely make your sweet tooth happy! They even had ice cream or gelato! It looked so delicious but we were too full to try it. But the flavors looked so amazing! The store was very clean and organized. I know this place is every kids dream and adults too! The dude found some Starwars things and we were looking for things to bring back to my nieces which we decide to get them some cookies from down the street. The dude and I enjoyed coming here and finding cool things! We didn't buy anything but we agreed we want to come back next time to get some things and try out the frozen treats! read more

I got two scoops of ice cream in a cup for $8. It was on a Saturday at 1:45 PM. The place wasn't too crowded and everyone was wearing their masks properly. I got their Cold Press Coffee and the Cookies & Cream. I really liked their Cookies & Cream. The coffee ice cream wasn't bad but wasn't my favorite. They also had four different kind of sorbets for people who can't have dairy. Their sorbets include mango, pineapple, strawberry, etc. They even have a couple of seats outside for you to enjoy your ice cream. Parking isn't too bad. Beyond expensive. Like crazy. We got 2 little bags (more on that later) and I added some jelly beans to my bag. It was $23!!! If you do the math: their candy is THIRTY FOUR dollars for ONE pound. It's like $8.50 for 1/4 of a lb (so 4 oz.) Also: a regular box of nerds (with the two separate flavors), not the movie theater /dollar store size one was $6.99 a basic candy bar was $4.99 !?! Are you nuts!? Also the pre-packaged Mike and Ike's were super stale. We ended up buying a box from Walmart the next day to make ok for it. ($1.24 for a 4 oz box. Not $8) So -- You can no longer pick your own candy amounts. They are now pre-packaged in little 3x3 inch bags. So you can't pick only a couple of each thing: you have to get their pre determined size, which sucks if you only want like one sour rope and some snow caps. We used to love this place and would visit it every Paso trip. Never again. I'll go to Walmart or a gas station. This place is highway robbery. read more

I bought a pound for 6.99 during Valentine's. To pay 12.99 for a small bag that was Valentine's candy is ridiculous. My bad for not having them take it off my bill. This Paso Robles candy emporium offers many different varieties of nostalgic and international candies, sweets & chocolates. There is also a multitude of items from lunchboxes & toys to memorabilia. At the main counter, they offer handmade chocolates and unique truffles. Flavorful gelato is available to sample to narrow down one's selection. There are several large dispensers that contain many different unique colors of M&M's, in which one can choose any quantity of a single color. Also available is a multitude of flavors of Jelly Belly brand jelly beans and merchandise. A nice selection of bulk candies, unique flavors of cotton candy, taffy and marshmallow treats are available. One will see many retro sodas that one hasn't seen in years - Bubble Up, Moxie, Fitz's and many other old school choices. In addition, they sell unique flavored soda pops. Toys and novelties from yesteryear are on hand. Movie memorabilia from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Minions, Disney characters & others, fill many shelves & areas throughout the store. One thing lacking in the store is the displays were not very well organized, or items not presented to their full advantage. SLO Sweets deserves kudos to their staff which greeted every person coming in the store. Upon leaving, each customer was thanked in a friendly manner, for coming into the store. DO NOT go in here with your kids!!! From the outside (and even the inside), SLO Sweets is an adorable candy shop that looks like the perfect vacation spot to grab Andy with the kids. Who doesn't love visiting a candy store while on vacation, especially as children? But this place is a TRAP pure and simple. The prices of this place are shocking and laughable to the point where I legitimately questioned if I was don a prank show. And once you're in a store like this with your kids... you can't really explain to children, "We have to leave without buying anything because the prices are too expensive..." So you're stuck buying something! You may be thinking to yourself... This guy is overreacting... it's a tourist destination... all prices are inflated! I totally get that... but this was laughably next level. Some prices that stuck out in my mind... a Ring Pop. One ring pop... 7.99 for a TWENTY PACK at Target was 6.99 here. For ONE ring pop. A tootsie roll pop, which is .25 cents nearly everywhere you go (3.99 for a giant bag of them at Target) was 7.99!!! For one! A Pez dispenser... ONE dispenser (2.50 anywhere you go) was 9.99!!! A CHEAP CHATTERING TEETH toy, under $2 anywhere you look online was $15.99!!! A Santa pet dispenser in a box was $20!!! I could go on and on... this place is probably the biggest obvious scam I've seen anywhere. A total trap whose business model is to either trap unsuspecting parents who fall into their web with their children, or maybe they think drunk adults won't notice after a day of wine tasting....
