Staff friendly and shared lots of fun facts about Sticky, whose HQ is in Australia. Recommend if you're in the area.

Sticky USA is a wonderful find in Paso Robles. As a previous online customer, I already knew I…read moreliked their hard candy and was surprised to learn they offered free appointments to watch the candy making process, in person. I and 5 others in my family got to watch an entire batch from start (sugar just cooked) to finish (cut warmed candy). Have you ever wondered how they make such pretty, detailed pictures in miniature bites of hard candy? Craig and Tanner were both a joy to learn from! They shared so many details of candy making, from how they think about the 3D design of a piece, to how they deal with air bubbles, how they make troughs for the color additions, and so much more. They were extremely friendly and fantastic hosts! As we watched them form the letters, and the picture, it was amazing for me and my kids to ask different questions as they worked. And then they stretch the huge roll of candy down to the proper tube sizes, BY HAND, and hand cut it all too. AND one of the best parts, you get to try the candy when its still warm, which you can never do when you buy it in a store! The whole process was a bit over an hour for the design we saw (a tombstone for their Halloween mix), and was engaging from start to finish. This is truly a memorable experience that my family will cherish, and one that makes you appreciate the hard work, careful artistry and design that goes into these hand-crafted pieces of candy.

We stopped in at Kelli's and ordered a mocha. Despite their shop being filled with customers, service was quick and we were outta there in about 5 minutes. They have lots of goodies to pick from, but this was an emergency situation - we were in and out. I will definitely stop in next time and take my time to look around a bit more.

They have a good selection of sweets, and a lot of flavors of salt water taffy. It's also somewhat of a gift store with little trinkets and souvenirs. The selections of truffles candies were really nice. So many to choose from as they all looked so good. Not sure if they're made on site or delivered to. Also the selections of jelly beans were impressive. Picked up one of the strawberry truffle and raspberry truffle. Both were quite nice and not overly sweet. It's a nice little shop that does offered a lot of sweet and coffee drinks. I alway forget that they have a good selection of rice crispy treats which is one of my favorite. There was a bin full of them right where you pick up your drinks.

We popped in to grab a small cheese plate to take along to our wine tasting, and it turned out to be such a great decision. Everything was thoughtfully curated--the cheeses were exquisitely paired with locally produced accompaniments like olives and nuts, which really elevated the whole experience. It was so good we completely forgot to take a "before" picture... but trust me, the empty box at the end says it all--total satisfaction! Simple, delicious, and perfectly suited for a wine country outing. Such a great treat!

But if you're planning a visit, build in serious buffer time. We stopped in on Memorial Day and, with several parties ahead of us in line, didn't place our order until nearly 20 minutes after arriving. By the 45-minute mark, our food still hadn't come out for two paninis and a soup. What made it especially frustrating was watching parties who arrived after us get their cheese orders and drinks served before anyone had even started assembling our sandwiches. It was clear the shop was understaffed for the holiday weekend, with one person managing the counter and another in the back prepping. We ended up asking to take the sandwiches cold just to get out the door, only to have both stuffed into one small bag, sloppily wrapped. The soup, unfortunately, came out lukewarm regardless. None of this felt malicious. The shop has an unhurried, artisanal quality that's part of its appeal, but that can't fully account for the gap between the experience and a nearly hour-long wait for a simple lunch order while others moved ahead of us. Come for the cheese, come for the atmosphere. Just don't come hungry with anywhere to be.
