We have been Slomin's heating oil customers for years. My issue began about a year ago and is still unresolved. We purchased a mini-spirit a/c unit from Slomins for $22,179.00 in late May 2024.This unit needed our electric system to be updated, this service was included in the contract and sub-contract by Slomin's with the guarantee of an electric certificate upon work completion. The unit was to be installed in early July 2024. After many delays the unit was actually installed in late August 2024 and the electric work completed in October 2024. We did not receive the electric certificate for the electric upgrade. We have called numerous times and spoke to customer service who assured us the certificate would be sent. During several calls I asked to speak to a supervisor. They will NOT put you through to speak to a higher up. I even reached out to the original sales person via email, no response. I guess once they get your money they are DONE with you. Fast forward to June 2025, the system was not working. Called Slomins to get the system looked at. The customer service rep would not let us make an appointment until we paid a $235.00 service fee. We pointed out that our contract clearly states in Section 11, that there is a warranty for the first year. Still she insisted on the $235.00 fee, stating that she had NO WAY of knowing what was in our contract. We put the charge on our credit card. When the scheduler called to book the repair appointment I spoke to her about the charge. She was able to see our contract on her computer and immediately put in for a refund. I also spoke to her about the electric certificate, she said she would look into it. The service man did come and fix it, stating a flange was over torqued during installation. In August 2025 I received an invoice from Slomins for $327.25, with no explanation for what it is for. I could not pull the invoice up on the payment portal without an account number and there wasn't account information on the invoice. At this point we were NOT even customers for heating oil. I called the customer service line again and was told it was for a service contract for the a/c unit. I asked for a copy of the contract, like they do for an oil burner service. I was told they do NOT do contracts for a/c service contracts. I said I am not signing up for a service contract WITHOUT BEING ABLE READ AND AGREE TO A CONTRACT. A few weeks later, out of the blue I was emailed a service contract with different levels for service and prices. However, all the levels said that repair would be at the discretion of Slomins. So, I could send them ranging from $327.50 to $650.00 for a service contract and they MAY at THEIR DESCRETION perform the work. I thought it was funny and decided NOT to take the contract. Especially, with their past practice of NOT fulfilling their end of our original contract we found the prospect of a service contract actually being carried out minimal at best. Last week I received a letter from Slomins threatening me with collections and to be contacted by their attorney if I do not send them the money for their joke of a service contract, I never agreed to. Perhaps if Slomin's took the time to get and forward the electrical certification as they did with preparing a ridiculous letter this would be a non-issue. Slomin's seems to be very confused. Be very careful when dealing with Slomin's keep contracts handy and make sure they fulfill their contractual obligations, because once they are done with you they are done and it is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to get even simple issues resolved. read more

1. Failure to disclose that you need a permit from Suffolk County to get an alarm system. If I had know I would never purcahsed Slomins security 2. Their sensors kept failing and 2 technicans came out and said the sensors I had was end-of-life, and they replaced it with ones that are more compatible which they would only replace as each one fails. 3. Service calls only work Mon-Friday, So lose a day's pay/take a day off from work so they can replace a sensor when it fails rather than replace all of the end-of-life ones. 4. They stopped servicing our oil-burner when it failed. We did experience a few service calls; either our burner was old, or the technician didnt fix right the first, and/or the second time. I has to spend $600+ dollars to have the plumber come and fix it. 5. Their website and policy promise delivery within 72 hours of confirmation for COD/one-time orders, with a $50 credit if not met.Three days later (Feb 5), I called for an update and was told it "may take 5 days." No firm ETA, no apology for exceeding their own advertised window. I called again recently (after more waiting), and the rep told me to "check the order online" (which shows nothing useful) and refused to provide any real information. When I politely asked to speak to a supervisor to escalate, they simply hung up on me.It's now been over 6 days since ordering (as of Feb 8), with no delivery, no proactive updates via email/text/phone, and no way to get real help despite multiple calls. I haven't read the reviews here yet for Slomin's Oil ...let me tell you stay clear of these crooks. The price looks good until you sign a "one time delivery only contract "... except you pay. Here is the scam; you prepay for 100 gallons minimum. When they deliver, as in my case, I get 88 gallons .Now before delivery I measured my oil level in the tank and I had room for over 120 gallons. So my first reaction is "I must have measured wrong, except I went back out and remeasured...mathematically I had room for over 20 gallons. Ok... they owe me 12 gallons on my prepaid account , or $31. It's impossible to get back in touch with them , but 3 weeks later I did... asked how we were going to reconcile the invoice... they agreed to reimburse ...3 more weeks go by, I get an envelope from Slomin's with and invoice for $99... minus the $31 they owe me.... It's for a cancellation fee...called Slomin's customer service...told to write to the COD Online purchase email....no answers...I referred this issue to the Pennsylvania Attorney General Office of Consumer Fraud. ...in the mean time I received another invoice from them, adding 42 cents in Finance Charges.... Though I've been a customer for many years and they always get paid, it's tough in the winter with oil prices the way they are. This year to get in the budget plan they wanted $1,000 up front. If someone needs the budget plan they don't have $1,000, duh! When I paid what I could on a $600 bill the balance was late I got a letter that can only be considered harassment and bullying. In NY landlords are not allowed to withhold heat from November to April yet Slomin's threatens to do this in a letter with all caps. I wrote to the CEO and cc'd two CFO's that the letter is rude because all caps is considered yelling and they could save money in ink if they print in normal 12 point type and pass the savings in to their customers. Of course I got no response. I will look for another provider and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

We have been customers for 30 years, first for home alarm/security, then oil. We pay the annual dues to have the system maintained, but the last year, they would cancel in the last minute. We needed oil last week. We called on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and today. We were promised delivery today, then, at 7pm we were informed that the "driver missed our appointment" and the fuel will be delivered on the next business day - Monday! Temperatures have been 10 and more degrees below freezing; consequently, we had to have the heat on. We have to take showers, but we won't be able to until Monday! SLOMIN'S annual revenue is 65 M! I am a senior citizen on a fixed income! I wish I would have read reviews before counting on them! Great price on heating oil. First transaction, no problems. Advised many people in my neighborhood to use this company. They provide a guaranteed delivery date before you agree to purchase. I ordered on Feb 3, 2026 with a guaranteed delivery by Feb 7. My credit card was charged as soon as I agreed to the purchase. I called customer service on Feb 6 to confirm delivery no later than Feb 7. I was advised delivery would be Feb 9 not 7. If I run my burner to keep warm during the coldest spell in a decade, I will run out of oil before Monday. I count every penny. Slomin's price is $1.66 less a gallon than any local company. Since last night, I've sent multiple emails demanding oil delivery today. Their answer continues to be, sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience. Your delivery will be Monday Feb 9. They are making no attempt to honor their guaranteed delivery date nor do they care that I am a senior citizen and will likely run out of oil. A service appointment was scheduled for today between 2 and 7. At 10:30 I get a text that Slomins is here. This is over 3 hours early, I had to leave first responders ceremony at my daughter's school to go home to meet the technician. That's time I can never get back. I can't replace the time I lost watching my daughter and her grandmother field questions. I was beyond furious, still am to be honest. I politely told the technician how unhappy i was that he was hours early. He said NOTHING! Not a word, now I know he just goes where he's told, but have some semblance of compassion and the slightest bit of customer service skills. I called the company to express my displeasure and eventually after being transferred multiple times someone halfheartedly said they made a mistake and did not show a window, that the appointment was for basically any time. The camera is horrible!! It does not record consistently. For example the camera only recorded today at 1:56 p.m. The past few days it records here and there. Also the company does not have a copy of any activity from your camera. They'll tell you, you can retrieve recordings from the cloud but that is useless if there are no recordings. I write this as my alarm panel is blaring and I can't shut it off. My plumber accidentally got my basement alarm panel wet and it set off the outside alarm. I called the main # and it took 10 minutes to get a live person. She was of absolutely no help. I asked to have a tech come out and repair the panel and was given an appointment 5 days later. We disconnected the battery to silence the outside alarm, but the inside panel has been chirping and going off constantly. It's like living in hell. I've been using Solmins for the past several years for oil delivery & service. Right now I'm finding it difficulty to get my boiler cleaned. Their appointments are so far in advance that when I have something important coming up on that day, I have to cancel their appointment, so right now I don't have any Service contract and I'm just, deciding whether or not to drop them and pay on demand oil delivery from another company because it cheaper since I no longer have a service to get my boiler clean when I need it. Adding to the litany of mostly negative reviews here. My experience was in early January 2023 in NY Metro area. Called to get a quote on oil delivery and boiler service to switch from current provider - very easy and efficient to do that and the rep that was sent over was friendly and professional. No complaints there at all. However, he barely looked at the boiler equipment (less than 30 seconds) and did not inspect the tank. Quoted me $4.00 a gallon for fuel oil as and a fixed price for service provided a signed a 1 year contract with a minimum of 600 gallons. I indicated I was interested, but needed to review my bills to determine my average annual usage and asked for a copy of the service agreement on the boiler to review inclusions and limitations. That's where it went sideways. He politely told me he could not provide any documentation - at all. All of their documentation was on his handled electronic tablet - I could review the oil delivery contract electronically right there on his tablet, but couldn't receive copies (electronic or paper) until I signed it and would only receive the service agreement via email after I executed it on his laptop. What????? You want me to sign a sign a service contract right here right now without the ability to read and review it to see what's included and excluded??? I then asked what the cancellation policy was. $500 cancellation policy plus whatever amount of oil minimum wasn't met. I asked him to show himself out. When I went to renew my boiler contracts, customer service was rude, and one of the company's bigwigs, someone named Chris or something like that, was boisterously unprofessional and screamed at me. We immediately called the service number and was told no one could come until the following day.I explained that my husband and I are both in our 70's and my husband has Parkinson's Disease.It didn't matter to them I was put on a list and basically there was NO emergency service for the night. For such a large company, there willingness to help you out is awful. They have been in my crawl space twice, and both times they have broke something. First they broke the doors leading to the crawl space and blamed it on termites. We had a termite company come and told us we had ZERO termites on the property. Then on Saturday they fixed our heat that went out(great) but in the process broke our air duct transporter. They denied our claims yet again saying it was in a bad location. they fix one problem to create another and take zero accountability for it. Wouldn't even compensate me for the extra oil i had to use bc they broke the air duct. But this is why they make it easy to look elsewhere. Second time this has happened within a span of 2 months. Ran out of oil this evening, a projected delivery of oil was supposed to have happened yesterday. Bills were paid for, no outstanding balances. House is now freezing without hot water, pipes will be freezing with potential structural damage. When I called the customer service department, I was met with the most unprofessional and rude representative named Kayla. She informed me that they do not deliver on weekends, but offered zero explanations as to why a projected date happened on the weekend. She also stated that the company do not have the capability to have emergency service technician to come and give me an oil delivery because "all the calls are full tonight." This is the same type of excuse I received several weeks ago with the same issues, this company is a bunch of scam artists and frankly I cannot fathom how this company is able to stay in business. I will be terminating this contract as early as I can because they are disgusting, rude, unprofessional, and criminal in their behavior as a commercial company. Very bad experience with this company. They completely delivered my oil to someone else's house. It took me about four days of back-and-forth for them to believe me, and understand the issue I had to go and measure the oil myself and stick the tank. I don't understand how that's OK we trust in company but over here we have to go and check if our oil was even delivered. I made it very clear to the guy that my surveillance camera did not catch any Slomans's truck coming by they still made me go and check everything by the book and I had a very hard time getting through very rude people for them to escalate the issue and get my money back somehow the 4 reps I spoke to there were so rude , implying that I was lying to them at no help at all . The worst! Really sneaky. They ask you for your credit card info and tell you that you won't be charged until after installation. I canceled within 24 hours of ordering and they tried to charge me for a month of service AFTER I CANCELED. Then they said it would take 3 weeks to reverse the charge. I don't normally look at our oil burner, but I was in the basement and noticed big green & white crystals around the pipes going directly into the burner front by the gauge and was concerned. I assumed it was some sort of corrosion from the copper pipes, and who knew if it was dangerous, so I called Slomins (516 area code). As I tried to explain what I saw, I made the mistake of saying we noticed the water in the shower doesn't stay hot as long as it used to (maybe you're in there 10-15 min before that, but it's an old burner). Well that's where the call went bad. She stopped listening and every response after that was to tell me to get a plumber based on what I said about the water. I told her I have hot water, and it's not a pipe that is 2 feet away, it's ON the actual burner. (I've seen a little green stuff on copper pipes-it wasn't that. This just looked wrong.) I wanted someone to actually see it, so they could tell me if I really needed a plumber or if their tech could repair it. It's on the burner, why wouldn't a tech be able to repair it? I offered to send a photo for the tech to just confirm that he/she couldn't do it, but she just kept saying to call a plumber. I replied, "No one has even looked at my burner, so how do you know I need a plumber?" My phone was cutting up, but she heard me well enough to tell me to go to the website and submit the photo there, and she said she was hanging up. I went to the website and filled out the form for a rep to call me. No one called. Day 2, called again, and she said, "based on what you said before about the water, you need to call a plumber." I said, "I have hot water. My concern is how the boiler looks, and I have a service contract. Why can't a tech come to my house to make sure it's safe?" She said your contract doesn't cover this. You need to call a plumber. I responded, "How do you know I need a plumber if no one has even seen what the burner looks like? I even offered to send a photo. Why can't I have a service call?" She told me again to call a plumber. Angrily, I hung up. I found a plumber that deals with heating, and he said I need a new coil--a repair that apparently an oil burner service tech can do. Since the oil burner is old, he gave me a quote for a new oil burner. Doesn't Slomins sell oil burners? I guess they don't care. Slomins has HORRIBLE customer service. Well, today I had a scheduled service appt with Slomins. I have been their customer for 24yrs. Today they send me the rudest, walked in with a chip on his shoulder technician named Brad. As I proceeded to tell him what my plumber said was the issue on the boiler and a broken thermostat, he responds with 'your plumber doesn't know homes' then says 'you've lived here this long and you don't know anything about the boiler'. My response was 'how do you talk to ppl that way and oh I wouldn't tell you you don't know how to put your own IV needles in'. And hence I knew he was a problem. When I go upstairs to check on the other thermostat, he goes into my den, without my permission, and is arguing about the broken thermostat and says 'what the hell did you ppl do I can't work with this'. When I said you're being very rude he says 'I'm leaving I'm not dealing with this shit'. He was in my home for exactly 10 min. He had zero intention to actually work. Let me just say that it took 45 min to speak to a supv, to report his behavior, it's 8pm and they have yet to send someone else out. Their service is awful. I will be replacing Slomins with another company. I will never be disrespected by anyone in my own home. If a technician acts like this in a home with me, how does he treat other customers, or other women homeowners? I have a 24yr account with no issues. He needs an attitude adjustment. We have been without hot water for 3 days and counting and no one can tell us when the system can be fixed. They are waiting on a part and do not consider our situation critical. My assessment of Slomins is a sad story. The home I live in, passed on to me, was covered by Slomins home heating for over 40 years. Personally, I added central air conditioning and the Slomins Shield to the services from Slomins about 18 years ago. Recently my oil tank, in the basement, developed a small leak. It had to be replaced. Slomins patched it successfully but they would not deliver oil with a patched tank. The good news was that my Slomins service contract would cover the cost in full provided I re-installed the new tank in the same place as the existing. When Slomins sent their tech to my home to take measurements, he reported that he could not get a new tank into my home and I had to have the new one outside at the cost of $1500 plus a permit to install it outdoors. I challenged Slomins on this and they basically accused me of being difficult and doubting their tech. In turn, I called two other organizations who came to my home and said Slomins does not want to install the tank indoors because it is more work than putting it outside, and both advised a new tank could be put in my basement. I called Slomins back to report this and this is when it got very nasty with their reaction. I immediately put a halt to that tone and employed one of their competitors to install the tank. Shout out to Domino's who did an amazing job, spotlessly clean and friendly. BTW, their heating oil is $2.00 less a gallon than Slomins charges. I've been paying witb the cost of oil from them for that tank they never provided. I did pay Domino's for the tank, but was pleased to do so. I also dropped my alarm service and A/C with Slomins and not a single apology to me for the trouble, nonetheless the duration I was with them. One word to describe how I feel about Slomons alarm system. regret! I have a lovely view of the sky instead of what I need to see.

I am not really sure how I should post this review! I have had Slomins Oil Delivery and Service contract for the last 5 years. In that period of time I have had a New Roth Oil tank (12/21) and a new Oil Boiler and Burner(end of 2022). Both very competive prices and top notch installations. I have had to have service for no heat 6 times since 12/27/22. Today has been the 3rd call in less than a month. My issue is the lack of customer service. Why should it take 24 hours for service to come and fix the system? I can not recall other companies that I have had in the past taking so much time. Oh and while I was on the phone with customer service I come to find out that there is a delivery hold on oil?? Luckily we have plenty of oil. I did not have a balance. Just not sure what direction this company is going in. When this contract is up we will definitely be exploring elsewhere. So I am somewhat perlexed as I had been very satisfied with Slomins in the past. Something change..... read more
